Robb & Elissa in the UAE - 2017! Dubai & Abu Dhabi!

Recommended Posts

While having the pleasure to go to Ferrari World last week. The big one, the mighty one, was closed due to annual maintenance, which was a shock.

To be fair, it is on the park website, and it has been for quite some time as we looked into this prior to our trip. Maybe the ProTip next time you plan your travel is to check with the park to make sure if a major ride you are looking forward to is actually open during your trip? And then if you can re-adjust your travel plans, you can do so when said attraction is back open.

After our visit to Ferrari World we did a quick lap next door of Yas Waterworld Water Theme Park! This quite possibly may be the best themed water park I've ever seen! The center of the park is a huge iconic building with slides coming off of it, the entire park is incredibly well landscaped, and even the supports for most of the slides have rock work and theming around them! The park also uses an impressive RFID wristband system to reserve rides, play interactive games, open your locker, pay for food & merchandise, etc. I feel like Yas Waterworld almost sets the bar for water theme parks!

Oh, and did we mention there was an actual roller coaster right in the middle of it, too?

Here's some photos & video. While unfortunately, we didn't have time to ride any slides on this visit, we rode the coaster and took a nice tour of the park! Here goes...

Bandit Bomber is a nice "family suspended" coaster that travels around the park. We didn't use any of the water features for obvious reasons, and the park was nearly at closing time and that's why there aren't many people around the park...

Next door to Ferrari World is Yas WaterWorld, one of the nicest themed water parks in the world!

The theming at Yas WaterWorld is absolutely incredible! Not sure I've seen this much attention to detail in a water park!

This is how impressive the attention to detail is... even the slide supports are themed with rock work! Amazing!

An RFID wristband is used at Yas WaterWorld for many guest services like front of the line access, photo pass, payments, lockers, etc...

You'll find interactive elements around Yas WaterWorld that are brought to life by tapping your RFID wristband!

The centerpiece of Yas WaterWorld is the Grand Pearl and many of the slides come off this structure.

So impressed with how well themed this park is! The water parks in the UAE are easily the best in the world!

The backdrop of the giant pearl looming over the wave pool looks fantastic!

And keeping with the theme of the giant pearl, there actually is a "pearl diving experience" you can do at the park!

Here's a look at the park map so you can get an idea of how big the place is.

And of course they have a giant "water play area" for kids...

SKLOOOSH!!!!

Loved that the cabanas were all themed to Arabian tents! They are climate controller and are fully catered by the park staff! Everything you need at your fingertips to make your day even more enjoyable!

Overall though, the park has a wonderful collection of slides that include a wide variety of thrills and fun!

And the theming and attention to detail around every corner was amazing!

We absolutely LOVED this park! Next time we visit the UAE we will budget even more time to do a full day here! And with the Warner Bros park being built right next door, maybe even spend a few days in Abu Dhabi!

Thanks again for reading! We will be back with another installment soon!

Oh yes, be sure to POST YOUR COMMENTS!!!

(we took the time to write the report, the least you could do is say something nice about it!)

Controversial opinion, but I really think Jebel Drop, the green slide next to the blue speed slidefrom this picture:

img_8882_0.jpg

Is more fun than the Leap of Faith. The way it dives through the rocky scenery and how it just zooms through the tunnel section gives such a rush.

Liwa Loop (the park's AquaLoop slide) is tons of fun too, but the lines for that are INSANE. I love how for their funnel slide, Dawwama, Proslide put in a water coaster section before the funnel. Great combo.

I adore this place. It's a shame you couldn't ride any of the slides, I really think you missed out on something great. Still glad you had fun on Bandit Bomber though!

You have to remember that we have been to a *LOT* of water parks in the world, and this was a shorter UAE trip for us this time around, so it wasn't possible to hit everything. We chose to at least go see the park rather than skip it entirely. Next time we will have a whole day to visit. We didn't "miss out" on anything. We did the trip exactly the way we wanted to.

Yeah you're right. But unfortunately that was a planned business trip and we thought we go before ramadan. But as I can see it was closed during the entire trip. So better luck (and information) next time. Dubai was still rather enjoyable

The next couple of updates will have to be done in parts because there is just so much to talk about!

This was our first visit to IMG Worlds of Adventure in Dubai, and while we had seen quite a lot about this park online, we weren't *exactly* too sure what to expect in person, and let me just say that we were all completely blown away by our visit to the park!

IMG Worlds is billed as the "World's Largest Indoor Theme Park" and I can most certainly believe that both in terms of space inside the building and high detail level of theming. The themed areas are very interesting as this park has a "Marvel Comics" themed land, which apparently the deal for this land was done BEFORE Disney bought the rights to Marvel. That being said the area was VERY well done and some of the rides were even on par with Disney attractions, but more on that later.

Anyway, as you read through the next couple of reports just think "World's Largest Indoor Theme Park" and "lots of super cool stuff!"

Here goes...

001.thumb.JPG.4ba9410766ea40fe739acf571e9e8305.JPG

Here we are!!! We have arrived at IMG Worlds of Adventure in Dubai! The World's Largest Indoor Theme Park!

002.thumb.JPG.e650f82be6cb6e1464b2219424f8d5c1.JPG

Upon entering the park, you can tell the place has a very "clean" feel to it. We like this. It makes the park feel a bit more upscale.

003.thumb.JPG.8ef44645fe97aca99372e842908e73d4.JPG

The lighting and sign package everywhere was really impressive!

004.thumb.JPG.46bf07ce6f87cc29f591338eea69ebac.JPG

As was the decoration around the park! It was great being in here before anyone else as I love getting these pics without any crowds!

We took a quick lap around the just to check out some of the themed areas. This haunted house was a lot of fun!

006.thumb.JPG.8c11e23e882cce7b444c1689290a7103.JPG

The "Lost Valley" area was a really great dinosaur themed land!

007.thumb.JPG.108563e9880228951664304c51d3fd45.JPG

Yep, lots of dinos! lol

008.thumb.JPG.77f5c0591ccd599e3a211b37ce24f64c.JPG

Here's a quick look at the Marvel section, but we'll get back to this later.

Tony Stark's Avengers tower! (It's actually a restaurant with AMAZING steaks!)

010a.thumb.JPG.96053120a06ef72c2cb551f57b4711ea.JPG

The Thor ride is a themed top spin...but like the rest of the Marvel area, we'll get back to this...

009a.thumb.JPG.b6ee31d12a698d45292061739bf5456d.JPG

This morning we'll start out in the Lost Valley area and do some filming on Predator, the park's Eurofighter roller coaster.

010.thumb.JPG.f03b56c4d3bf8549d9ffb0ea0e189091.JPG

Yes, even in Dinosaur times, they still drank Mountain Dew! (What do you think REALLY killed off the dinos?) :p

011.thumb.JPG.135d27c59de7a58c74ea1b2210b136e8.JPG

Time to ride! Are you guys ready?

Take a front seat ride on Predator!

Looks like everyone had a good time!

011a.thumb.JPG.c51bed8c261e92f35156094b2b9f2f58.JPG

We wandered back up to the front so the park could officially open now!

012.thumb.JPG.e9cba3371c8f16bfdcdcdda44a7ac3c3.JPG

After a cute little song and dance by the park's opening team, IMG World's was officially open!

013.thumb.JPG.3d830d84e78a45fcf85aba29fb7fbfab.JPG

Hey look! Gumball from the Amazing World of Gumball came out to say hello!

014.thumb.JPG.4a9c21a9b06d2d3288dd9fc4d4fa339c.JPG

Kristen is a huge fan of the show so of course this made her VERY happy!

015.thumb.JPG.c4be25e5bd2c517056435ab66061dd5d.JPG

Next up with the Spider-Man spinning coaster!

015a.thumb.JPG.6c2d26bcb7655ce41322e6e48af6b95e.JPG

While we know the park is all indoors, this ride was sort of "indoors and outdoors" in the sense that it never goes "outside the building" but it goes outside of it's "show building" and out into the midway areas.

016.thumb.JPG.dfe4d27d03ba5ce2786b50e80216f39f.JPG

This is a GREAT RIDE!!! Quite possibly my favorite (or really up there) of all the spinning coasters I've ridden!

017.thumb.JPG.680b8bfb9e32ee607230eaf81208e880.JPG

The queue is very well themed...

018.thumb.jpg.7614f4b1cc116526af50ffa6d227d2fd.jpg

And as you move along the ride you'll see some familiar characters!

Check out a full POV of this awesome coaster!

019.thumb.jpg.4aa92810cb64086f87e9dd1118b571be.jpg

The entire ride looks great!

021.thumb.JPG.33e2b31369b05eb4dd9ee1d66163c234.JPG

The entire area looked great! Some of the Marvel stuff reminded us of what you'd see at a Universal park, some of it more like Disney. It was an interesting mix, but we liked it all!

[/twitter]

020.thumb.JPG.14184012c0ea2c95e6669a08c4c76845.JPG

Even the coin pressing machines were well themed!

022.thumb.JPG.0c1c03e3a23601382fe9963df2aad217.JPG

We were treated to an amazing breakfast by the park! Turns out, the park is owned by people in the culinary industry and they take the park food VERY seriously!

023.thumb.JPG.94b9be4f94cf64f79544796c3bf9022e.JPG

Let me just go on record right now saying what we ate throughout the day was some of the best park food we've had. Epcot level of quality!

024.thumb.JPG.b8f3e30fbe593712e78267ece5f14d94.JPG

Some more theming around the park. This is the Chinese restaurant.

025.thumb.JPG.42a7f342c2059879202e4dc3ec70f878.JPG

Let's go check out the Lazy Town area! Some of you may remember this "physical education" based show.

026.thumb.JPG.969a7320bad866395fef23648a6987ec.JPG

The area consists of a ropes course, restaurant, and a Lazy Town show!

027.thumb.JPG.f455ace634140a523edb2f5563c75f78.JPG

There you have Sportacus and Stephanie!

045.thumb.JPG.b0f34e39368d65ba834c582473c93489.JPG

Lazy Town also has one of those "kid powered towers" and these are a lot of fun AND a great workout, too! (Sportacus would be proud!)

028.thumb.JPG.874768a94efd896c3994211be4b6d089.JPG

Kristen getting all suited up for the ropes course!

029.thumb.JPG.a0afce0ee4a30c5f3904ec5074ca726e.JPG

Time to go get lost on the course! You guys ready?

030.thumb.JPG.de5c439415b76865692b5665e75b398f.JPG

This ropes course was HUGE!

031.thumb.JPG.01b274fc32f02afeb1b01b5303fbebca.JPG

It actually had some VERY challenging obstacles.

032.thumb.JPG.6c653a928d4b48ec2a9da395f8d59ff9.JPG

When you were up high, it FELT very high off the ground!

033.thumb.JPG.63bd73c3784d9458bb96eed42c84fa49.JPG

This may be the only ropes course I've seen where you drag yourself along in a bucket! lol

034.thumb.JPG.a5dca4538b7e93f8e409b5b550830a60.JPG

Hey look! Stephanie and the Lazy Town citizens came to say hello!

035.thumb.jpg.681224c2145716959d09ee7e13f9c662.jpg

And yes, we did go check out the show!

037.thumb.JPG.f09b8f43eb966a05c2c4ea2be42ba6d0.JPG

Since the Cartoon Network area was close by we checked out some of this land as well...

046.thumb.JPG.e4edfcade080070038e12aef34915012.JPG

Hey look! A couple of the Ben 10 characters! (Not the ones in the middle!)

038.thumb.JPG.355686d31b163c6f292da55a95474465.JPG

Again, this whole area was clean, nicely done, and looked great!

039.thumb.JPG.bc9d82cabbe409b84666ccc5251f5309.JPG

Yay! Powerpuff Girls!

040.thumb.JPG.2bb5e3306d9eb9b2b3055462217b93c4.JPG

This was the park's Zameperla Air Race and with a very cute theme!

041.thumb.JPG.bb2d6047c61cc13221becb278680f1cd.JPG

The REAL Powerpuff Girls are the ones riding!

042.thumb.JPG.d09a7d85e24ddedf856afdaf96c375c9.JPG

Wait, no... the real Powerpuff Girls were never this ugly! :p

043.thumb.JPG.469c98042c2b74a474aec8ed481b648a.JPG

If you haven't been on an Air Race, they are super fun rides and they spin a LOT!

Here's a little bit of ride video for you...

036.thumb.JPG.288a1d811a4235ef50cf371479697ab5.JPG

And with that, we'll end this first part of the report with a group photo with Lazy Town! More to come soon!

Thanks for reading! We will have more Dubai updates soon!

Very cool. I'm always impressed by everything in Dubai--it seems like all the tourist places try to outdo each other, and the competition pays off for guests. That Air Race theme is great! I'm not normally a fan of spinning or flipping rides, but those Air Races really are great. Looking forward to the Marvel update!

Pictures look great! Definitely on my list if I ever make it out to the UAE!

Something I couldn't really tell from the photos is how busy the place was. What kind of crowds did you see?

While we were there, not very busy, at least not until later in the afternoon/evening. UAE parks tend not to be as busy during the day because they like to avoid the heat, even for an indoor park, but we saw "light crowds" in the evening hours. We also went at a time of year where the parks don't get that crowded. But not really sure if there is ever a time of year at the moment where they get that crowded!

I'm absolutely loving this TR. Every update has something new and the attention to detail in your writing and the thorough pictures really explain the experience to those of us behind a computer screen! Thanks for that, Robb! I'm curious to know how loud it is inside IMG with all the rides running. Do they have things separated and sound proofed enough where it's not too bad, or does it sound like Cedar Point's midway at all times? That ropes course looks absolutely incredible.
