thomas2
The famous German racecircuit Nürburgring will build a coaster for 2009 as part of their masterplan. It appears to be a X-car from Maurer Söhne. There isn't much information yet, but there are alot of rumour on European themeparksites that this coaster will be a recordholder and beat Kingda Ka in terms of speed! Masterplan Article EDIT: according to onride.de, the decision has been made, the coaster will be built and have a top speed of over 200 km/h Click Edited October 31, 2013 by jedimaster1227
lil jimmy norton
I'm too lazy to check, but how fast is 200 km/h in mph?
King of Ka
^Just a shade over 124 mph. Sounds cool. When I first heard about the X-car coasters, they seemed like some of the coolest coasters ever. I haven't heard such great reviews, though. Acero
I heard it was going to be closer to 130 mph, because on another source about this it was reported to have a top speed of 214 (appx 130). But really my question (which I posed in another thread) would be the type of system Maurer Sohne would use to achieve this launch and the time rate of the launch. ParkTrips
I'd rather take a ride on the ring.
IwantRevenge
so now they're like Suzuka Circut with a park and a race course. Seems kinda gimmicky, i mean you'd think Nurburgring has enough speed.
TheStig
I'd rather take a ride on the ring. Agreed. EDIT: Holy crap, best ride ever! ITS FERRARI THEMED!
PURE
On page 3 of the master plan link, it shows the layout of a "race coaster." Layout looks like a typical Intamin rocket with a tophat. Except this time its going to be faster and (perhaps?)taller than the previous 2. Yay.
Shockwave
I'd rather take a ride on the ring. I'll nod to that. This ride will be good for publicity stunts at the all the big motor races, and could keep people happy when Rock AM Ring's line-up goes a bit sour at some stage during the festival. Tanks4me05
Actually, it will tie to TTD's top speed - One kilometer is 0.6 miles - multiply 200 by 0.6 and you get 120.
SharkTums
^ 200 kph = 124.274238 mph 214 kph = 132.973435 mph Good try though.
Groteslurf
I'm looking forward to this coaster in any case. The Nurburgring is quite close to Holidaypark. These two combined will be an excellent daytrip from where I live.

Airtime&Gravity
Wow, very nice, but given how much trouble Kingda Ka was, I'm surprised a larger one is being built. It looks like the complex is in for some big changes, but the coaster might seem out of place if there is no park around it.
TexTitan01
I'd rather take a ride on the ring. Uhh...YA. Give me a Caddy CTS-V and an hour of the 'ring and I'll have WAY more of a good time than on a coaster. For anyone who knows what a CTS-V is, and if you agree it is the shiz, give yourself five stars
italianpnoy112
If you click on the Article you'll get to see what type of coaster it is. Hover over the (i) and a Maurer Sohne X-Car will appear. If anything it's probably not going to be a typical Intamin acclerator.
thomas2
© Parkscout / Nürburgring Source For those who don't speak German: The coaster will be built by S&S and will have an acceleration from 0-217km/u in just 2.5 seconds

christianscoasters
I used one of those online translator things and here's what I got...Hope it helps: New load business at the Nürburgring is world premiere Of 0 on 217 km/h in 2.5 seconds - in this acceleration valued even a Fomel-1-Fahrzeug pulls the shorter. The experience unique worldwide from 2009 at the Nürburgring. Larger picture faster of 0 on 217km/h than every race vehicle: The "Racecoaster" more authentically could hardly be it. The strain before the start, that adrenalin, that climbs, if the traffic light jumps on green and the body that is pressed under the acceleration into the seat. So a racer must feel - and so become himself also the visitors of the Nürburgrings feel if the spectacular load business, in the specialty jargon "Coaster" named, that guests catapults on 217 km/h. To the comparison: A Formel-1-Bolide does not create this in 2.5 seconds, but rather almost twice as long needs out of the state. Direct along the start and home stretches of the Nürburgrings this trip becomes the unique, real and persistent experience. Nowhere in the world passengers can shoot let themselves directly next to a race track on such speeds. After the entry of the passengers, that results in a railway station in the new Indoor-Attraction, the Coaster heads for parallel its start point to the start line and goal line on the real Grand-Prix-stretch. The vehicle accelerates of here on 217 km/h, goes 480 meters along the race track and bends then in a sharp to the left curve off. The route leads back through the Boulevard and ends again in the railway station. Eight persons find at the same time simultaneously place in two Vierer-vehicles. Altogether 1.2 kilometers are traversed. A quantity adrenalin inclusive. Manufacturer of the load business is the firm S&S Power that prevailed in a worldwide public announcement procedure. "S&S Power is in the field of the compressed air of operated Coaster worldwide one of the leading businesses and controls very much experience", explains Dr. Walter Kafitz, principal director of the Nürburgring gmbh. "The manufacture of the single components (u. a. vehicle, wheels, steel) is subject at the same time the German TÜV-standard, the German industry standard (DIN) as well as the Europes standard (E) and is operated almost exclusively of in Germany and Europe übernommen." The acceleration with compressed air enables the highest speeds, is certain dependable, and consumes little energy. Larger picture until 2009 emerges is in the Eifel a new experience world all around the motoring the Coaster a building block of the project "Nürburgring 2009" that is up-to-date in the building phase. So a Boulevard, that weather independent and all-year usefully several offers unites under a roof, emerges along the start and home stretches: Noted worlds of leading automobile-manufacturers and accessories-specialists, a new Indoor-attraction (as a mixture out of Science-center, museum and experience world), a Kartbahn, an Indoor-arena as well as an Eventhalle and a Welcome-center. In addition a modern head platform with 5,000 places and business-Lounge emerges. A new four-star-hotel with 160 rooms, the "motoring-Resort" in the vicinity of the Offroad-park as well as the experience gastronomys "villages Eifel" round off the total offer in the region. To the spring next year an all-year leisure time center and business center will become in this manner out of the most successful race track of the world all around motoring and mobility. Already now attracts visit the Nürburgring annually ca. two million visitors into the Eifel, the approximately 100 motor sporting events and 200 other Events. Airtime&Gravity
Wow...another one of these horrible rides is being built? There is a reason only two(excluding Powder Keg) S&S launched coasters have been built, and this ride probably will be as bad as the two already out. Now, if something can be done about the roughness and the painful airtime, then this might be good. While the gp will love this ride, it just won't be as good as a launched coaster of this size could be. However, I'd still ride if given the chance as that launch should be amazing. King of Ka
^Agreed. For such a fast coaster, it's a shame that they chose a company whose others have been so painful. Hopefully this will be the exception to that rule. And who knows?, this could end great. It's still nice to hear there'll be a new 2nd fastest coaster in the world.
