P. 796 - Ride closing 10/30 to remove launch and install chain lift!

Recommended Posts

Just seen the first two parts of the Mystery Mine story. Exiting stuff indeed! What a cliffhanger! Who needs Lost eh

Seriously though, its great that Dollywood are making the extra effort in regards to telling us the story behind the 'Mystery Mine'. Looking forward to seeing the next installment on Friday.

edit:

Where as before the concept art picture on Screamscape was tiny, the image is now bigger and clearer. Link is here (scroll down to 2007 news).

Exiting stuff? Is that a UK term that we stupid Americans don't know?

Just kidding Dude! Yes, it is very exiting stuff.

I think the part in the video with the track might be the track leading to the "broken trestle" or outdoor/vertical drop section. I hope it will turn out like Journey to Atlantis in Florida, only with a longer coaster portion.

I also hope there's some slow scenes with some good scenery. They have released that the ride will drop into a mine shaft filled with animatroncs and special effects so I'm sure the ride will have lots of coaster elements, can't just drop and stop.

I find it interesting that while reading the very back of the ACE news publicaton for may-june it features a title "The latest pair of gerstlauers make americans whine 'wheres ours?!'". Then it goes on to say..."C'mon, lets get one built over here already...they can still call it a Euro-fighter even if it's in north america."

Hummm...

Yes it is to be a gerstlauer i was looking up there bobsled coasters and i found this. The videos at http://www.dollywood.com/mmine/default.htm

Give me a suspicion that it is not a euro fighter but a bobsled coaster with an elevator lift. I first came across this at http://www.gerstlauer-rides.de

While looking for pictures thier bobsled coasters for an NL coaster. I found this and BOOM here we are.

120 feet is really tall for a bobsled ride, and the old cocept art picture that came out before the mystery mine site shows a very steep drop. I still think this will be a eurofighter.

yeah 120 is tall for a bobsled coaster but look at it like this...whats the difference between a eurofighter and a bobsled coaster...just the name and what it does lol. And another thing while it may have a 120 ft drop the coaster can only be like 40ft tall. The location of this thing is on a hill so the supports dont have to be 120ft tall!

Oh, dont get me wrong, it could very well be labeled as a bobsled coaster and you know what...I was thinking and on this video it's all but confirmed that it would be a bobsled style coaster! But then again dollywood maybe looking at capacity and the euro-fighters have different seating arrangements which leads to mroe capacity and it doesnt have to have inversions to be a euro fighter...man this is getting confusing as much as the cedar point crap lol lol! However your right there is a coaster that has a somewhat mine car look to it see...

Thank you very much jarmor. But the key question you should have asked was "Does it have a More-than-vertical drop, oh say around 95 or 97 degrees?" But very useful none-the-less. Thank you!

^And where exactley did you see this animation?
