man Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 ^^They better! I already have 4 as well. I have 4 but im useing 2 on my computer for random things (drum thing, mouse, and for this super cool game called super mario wars). I am acctually glad im getting an extra controller.
CommanderLock Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Are those controllers cheap? Because seeing that an extra PS3 controller is $50, a wireless 360 controller is $40... Â I didn't get a Wii yet because A)The 360 and Gamecube are hogging all the outlets I can find. B)Metroid Prime 3 isn't comming out till Q2 2007. Brawl? Fine...but MP3 is what I want the Wii for. C)Gears of War was WAY too amazing to miss out on. Plus, half my friends have Xbox Live, and then there's Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars...etc. D)After all I money I've spent on 360 accessories, I'm saving up for two wired 360 controllers, and save the rest for a Wii/Prime 3/(Brawl?).
matty_bhoy Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 just a question...since i only have wiisports for now i was just wondering when u pay gamecube games can u use the wiimote or do u have to use that oter basic controller with the D-pad and analog sticks and stuff....i really want to play something else!!!

Extra remotes- $40, extra nunchuks- $20.  If you get a Wii, unplug your Gamecube, you won't need it as the Wii plays GC games.   And the controller question in the next post, the Wii has outlets for your Gamecube controllers, so that is what you play your GC games with.
Sir Clinksalot Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 ^^ I'm pretty sure you will need the GameCube controller to play GameCube games. Â Has anybody played GC games on the Wii yet?? Â Maybe it's because it's so new, but we have decided to keep the GC out with the Wii and PS2 for GC games. The port where the GC controllers go is kind of in a weird place. Â I wish you could connect your GC controller to the WiiMote like the Classic Controller does.
OzCatter Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 When you use the Wii as a Gamecube, it turns off every part of the Wii part, and it acts as if it's a Gamecube, you even have to manually turn it off at the system
mmousefan Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 So this is my Wii story:  I wanted a Wii since the first time I saw it on tv and here on TPR. The chnces on getting one was like 0, none, no chance, 0%, cause game sistems are banned from my home. The only sistem I actually have had was a Super Gameboy and a Gameboy color Well then I started talking to my parents about the Wii and how it was really different than other sistems, how you had to move yourself to play and how its wasnt just another "sit and play" sistem. To my sourprise mom agreed to pay half of the price if me and my brothers payd the other half. Yay I was so excited!!! I was actually going to own a Wii!! After that it was only time for wait until they started selling them here in Mérida. With some research I founded that it was going to be until February at Sams club or Costco were its going to be first sell. At a price of $475 dlls. really expensive, but I had some more time to save. Just a week ago we were at the mall and when I look in the direction of a little electronic shop I saw them. they had like 20 Wiis one on top of another. I was like in shock. The thing that sourprised me more was the fact that people just kept walking beside them and no one noticed them. Of course no one had an idea of what they where!!!! If only they knew the long lines you maked in usa to get them!!! Well then I aproched and asked for the price. Are you ready??? They were priced $550 dlls!!!! and the games $80 dlls!!!! I was like WTF, cause I knew the american prices and how they where soo much cheaper. My chanses of getting one were like 0 again cause it was too expensive. If I could only get one at USA, well I just have to wait for next year when I get to Orlando and then I buy one.(thats what I thought) And then hope came again. One of my best friend was going to spent New Years at Big Bear California. Of course this was an opportunity that I coudnt pass. I asked him if he could buy a Wii for me. And he said YES. I was so happy again. Then I just got the money from mom and my brothers, changed for dlls and yesterday I gaved it ti him cause he traveled today. So if everything goes well next wednesday Ill have my first game sistem ever and its going to be a Wii The best thing its the price, for only $410 dlls I should get the Wii, extra control, extra nunchuck and two games, yay. Im only hoping that they are not sold out  I have only two quuestions now: 1- Where is more sure for him to get it? target? walmart? mall? So I can tell him to go there. 2- My game wish list was like this (#1 the most wanted and #5 less wanted but still wanted) #1 zelda #2 Rayman #3 Elebits #4 Monkey ball #5 Trauma Center Should it stay that way or should I change the order, cause remember im tryind to get like the best games there that are so cheap. Im also looking for games that can involve all my family to play. Tnks all for reading  Joel "best wishes for the New Year" Saury  yay post #250

rollermonkey Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I'll be getting a Wii once the supply chain fills out a bit more. I'll never camp out for a system again. (PS2 - 18 hours, but I got one.)
Primogen18 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Joel, Im not sure how your luck will be at finding the system let alone extra controllers and such, but all those places (as well as local game stores such as EB or Gamestop) are good candidates. Perhaps call ahead and see when they are getting in shipments of systems around the area. Also, Wii comes bundled with Wii sports, which im sure will be perfect for the entire family, especially if you do get ahold of some more wiimotes. Rayman looks to be great for that as well. Zelda is a GREAT game and does use the Wiimote pretty well, but is only one player. If your main thing is your family, Id go for Rayman first since it looks like tons of fun and itll get your family involve. If you can get 2 games, grab Zelda as well. Â Also if you have DSL, Id reccomend the Wifi plug as well later down the road. As you first console, you can concentrate on Wii games first, but with the Wifi plug you can download some great games from past consoles such N64 or Super Nintendo that you may have missed over Virtual Console. Â I hope you get it and Im sure your family will love it! Good Luck!
Moose Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I'll be getting a Wii once the supply chain fills out a bit more. Â I am with you. I just hope its sooner rather than later.
Masked_Maverick Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Me too. I can't remember the last time I wanted a game system this bad. I am seriosuly considering trading in my 360 for a Wii.
robbalvey Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I'll be getting a Wii once the supply chain fills out a bit more. Â I am with you. I just hope its sooner rather than later. I was at our local Target about 20 minutes ago and a bunch of people (about 20) were standing around because there were some Wii's that were about to get pulled off a truck. Â While I'm not one to stand around with the masses in order to get something, at least they do seem to be coming in and a pretty consistant pace. Â On a side note, there were 4 PS3's just sitting there that no one was interested in. Â I really find it shocking that there doesn't seem to be the interest in PS3 as I thought there would be. Â --Robb
CaseyFish Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 ^Robb I think that one thing that made the Wii really popular within the past two weeks, are their great commercials. I mean they actually show game play and how it works in the commercial, and I really think that appeals to the older crowd, as with PS3 they have a beat up baby doll crying...WTF... Â Casey
Sir Clinksalot Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 ^^ I'm surprised by that too.  Even the Sony Fan-Boys are wanting the Wii. Nintendo sure has a hit on their hands with this one.  I found this pretty funny:  Woot Sells PS3? Wii, Wii!  So, hey, check it out: there’s this awesome new gaming system that we just can’t stop playing. Too bad it’s so hard to find in stores – we guess they just didn’t make enough of them. It’s called the Nintendo Wii, and holy mother of Zelda, is it ever a blast. If the Wii is cool with polygamy, we might ask it to marry us.  The controller – so easy! No more intricate push-this-twice, pull-that-three-times trickery, just easy waves of the hand. The console – so cute! It actually makes our gaming room look better, unlike the bulky, ugly consoles we could mention. How does Nintendo keep the price so low on that thing, anyway? And the games, good Lord, the games! Not to mention those adorable avatars. We’ve already created virtual versions of the entire staff, so we can beat each other virtually-bloody instead of actually-bloody, like we usually do. The only problem is that none of the nose options are as big as Jason’s actual nose. But that’s a minor quibble.  In fact, we love the Wii so much, we want to give a Wii to everybody on our payroll. To fund this Wii-for-the-People program, we're selling this Sony PlayStation 3. The SIXAXIS wireless controller is basically the same complicated gazillion-button-style controller you know from past PS models, but at least you won’t be fighting Grandma for gaming time. Along with the usual roster of ho-hum games, the PS3 can play CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs, and the 20GB hard drive can store music, videos, and music videos. It’s certainly, er, rather full-figured, for those of you who want a lot of heft for your money. And its HDMI capabilities give you polygons and frames-per-second out the wazoo, if you prefer that stuff to having fun. Best of all, for every PS3 you buy, we can buy Wiis for two of our employees. So when you get frustrated by those intricate combo-button moves, or bored by the underwhelming game offerings for the PS3, keep the spirit of the season in mind. Remember all those happy Woot staffers whose lives have been changed by their super-fun Nintendo Wiis, paid for by you. Heartwarming, isn’t it?   * shipped today via FedEx Next Day with Saturday delivery. Rural and snowbound areas may cause delivery delay out of Woot or FedEx control. Warranty: One year  Features:  Plays video games and stuff  And this picture. If you can't tell what it is, it says Wii Rox spelled out in PS3 boxes. Â
Masked_Maverick Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Actually Robb the lack of interest for the PS3 doesn't surprise me one bit. First of all it is over priced ($600 for a premium system?) Third most expensive system in history if memory serves me right. Over Hyped and from what I have seen with the launch games (save for Resistence) so far are lackluster at best. I played both a PS3 and a Wii and I was not only far more impressed with the Wii but had a lot more fun with the Wii than the PS3.
mmousefan Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I hope you get it and Im sure your family will love it! Good Luck! Â Thanks Allan, Im really keeping my fingers crossed that my friend is going to get one for me.
Florida420 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I got my wireless router today, so now I am officially ready to go. I'm online right now doing the now infamous Wii post. It's easier than I thought it would be, the word complete thingy really helps out ( when I remember to use it ) One question though, is the resolution always a little bad? or is it because I have an older tv? Is there any way to adjust it? I'm kinda having a hard time reading the web sites, although this is the first one I went to.
the sound Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 ^^They better! I already have 4 as well. Â I'm pretty sure it will, but Wii Play isn't that fun. It is useful to help you get used to the Wiimote, but the games are a bit boring after one or two go's at them. Â Although, the table tennis is fun
Angry_Gumball Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I'll be getting a Wii once the supply chain fills out a bit more.  I am with you. I just hope its sooner rather than later. The lack of interest of the PS3 is so true. I saw 3-4 of them on the 23rd in a crowded electronics area...and they sat...and sat...Yay Sony...great job! And just above the 4 PS3's, there was a sign that was saying "Due to the shortage of PS3s we won't be expecting any until after the holidays. Sorry for the inconvenience." I found that rather funny as they just sat underneath.  I must add on that playing Motostorm with "T3h s1x 4xis!!11!" motion controls, and then playing Excite Truck, I found Excite Truck far better. And for those who care for graphics only, the game does a decent job, so close to Next Gen graphics.
Masked_Maverick Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Can someone please explain what the differance between the Wii's controller (forgot the name for it) and the "six axis" is?
Wes Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Ummmm...the SixAxis is the wireless controller for the PS3. It's basically the same as the PS2 Dual Shock controller with some basic motion sensing capabilities built in. Â The Wii Remote is the wireless controller for the Wii. Â Not that hard to understand.
Angry_Gumball Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I was actually thinking along the lines of Six Axis referring to maybe it's gyroscopic sensors and the axis it has. My friend was telling me that the motion sensing is designed to just enhance the controls so as an example: you're racing and you're using the analog stick like you've always done in the ppast. Usually, people tend to turn the controller the direction they're turning thinking it's doing something...the motion sensors would enhance the controls and probably make it more responsive to turning. Wasn't the motion sensing capabilities a last-minute decision during E3 when the Wii was unveiled?
spaminacan11 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 ^Yes actually, they were. It didn't make Nintendo fans too happy either. It is no where near the same though. The sixaxis only picks up the turning of the controller, it can't detect where the controller is pointing. It really only serves a purpose in racing and flying type games. Personally, I think it was a bad call by Sony to do that because they had to sacrifice the rumble feature. Yay for all of Sony's stupid mistakes!
Angry_Gumball Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I guess it was a good thing they strayed away from their Boomerang controllers. Someone would be bound to make a hard left, chuck the controller thinking it's a boomerang and hope it will return to them as it smashes thru a window, hit a friend or anything else. I miss the Sony days of PS1...that was a classic.
