Knoebels Discussion Thread

I do kind of wonder if there is going to be a new flat ride for next year since AtmosFEAR was announced right around this time last year. If not and they decide to feature FT as the new ride, then that's fine by me and it would probably save them money for 2015.

I doubt they will get a new ride having just opened Flying Turns maybe a kiddie though. I'm sure they plan on heavily marketing Flying Turns.

What is their normal 'addition' schedule? Do they add something every year? Even if it's something small, or do they take breaks? Personally I don't see them having to add a lot as it's such a complete park.

I don't think they have a set schedule but, for the past couple of years it seems like they tried to add a ride every year, even if its a kiddie ride.

Stratosfear

Flying Turns

Black Diamond

Fandango

Kozmo's Kurves

Wipeout

Flying Tigers

Looper

Don't know if this is typical of amusement parks, but Knoebel's asked longtime visitors on Facebook what ride from their childhood they missed. Maybe they will try to bring back another ride from yesteryear.

Knoebels is in fantastic shape currently - even more so now that Flying Turns has opened. Unless an opportunity presents itself I don't see them adding any major attractions in the near future, but you never know.

The park used to have a family steel coaster called "Jet Star". That would be my vote if I were able to vote since I'm not a longtime visitor and only knew about Jet Star by referring to the roller coaster data base.

Otherwise, keep everything you got!

I agree, with so many Schwarzkopf coasters being removed from parks, it would be nice to see a US park add one of their coasters since some are listed for sale on those used ride websites.

I'm still hoping for a refurbished Knightmare to appear...

Knoebels doesn't really need anything right now but I'd love to see them add a moderately sized Starflyer. I think that would be really popular at Knoebels.

I've thought about Laser too but more as a pipe dream than anything they'd actually do. Then again they just built a Flying Turns coaster so I wouldn't put anything past them.

Hmmm...rides from the past that they don't already have? That's a tough one!

Here are my choices:

* Rotor

* Another dark ride or fun house

* Zipper

* Kangaroo

* Double ferris wheel

It would need to be quite heavily refurbished!!

I like the idea of a wooden mouse. They're fun and I think it would fit with the atmosphere of the park.

I would also love a retro arcade with old pinball and classic 70's and 80's arcade games. I was a little disappointed that the arcade that I peeked looked like they had modern video games.

I still have yet to go swimming in the old school Olympic pool with the high diving boards and slides...those look awesome!

If there's one park in the US that could pull off a Fun House it may be Knoebels! I want a spinning wheel and everything!!!

I agree, but I think Dick Knoebel said a few years back that he had no desire to build and maintain a walk through attraction. Although I never rode them, bring back the flying cages.

^ that would be cool for a retro arcade like Cedar Point has. But honestly, when I am at Knoebels, all my quarters go to FASCINATION

I like the one's at CP, but the last time we played games there, half of them either weren't working or they just gobbled up your quarters without actually letting you play the game. I felt bad having to go to the attendant every ten minutes when the machines would malfunction.

It would take a very dedicated person(s) to keep a big collection of old games like that running.

I love that huge arcade at Cedar Point, their collection of pinball machines is really impressive.

I think a Zamperla or SBF Visa Starflyer ride would make a great addition to Knoebels. The views from 100 or so feet up would be awesome.

They already have one of those. Except theirs doesn't swing or spin, and it drops like a rock as soon as it hits the top.
