J man Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I went to the grand canyon a few years back with my church. We camped down inside for a week. It was really fun. I liked all the waterfalls they have down there.
nannerdw Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I have been to both the north and south rims of the Grand Canyon, and I've been down part of the Bright Angel Trail, so this all looks really familiar to me. They really shouldn't tell people not to feed the squirrels, since some of the animals are probably so used to being fed human food by now that they would not know how to survive by getting their own food. As for the Sonic, that could be anywhere, so I'm not even going to guess.
haux Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I didn't know Page, Ariz. had a Sonic, but I haven't been there in about five years. Methinks Flagstaff, Ariz., but where would you be going from the worst city in Arizona?
TheGreatOne Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Methinks Flagstaff, Ariz., but where would you be going from the worst city in Arizona? I'm pretty sure Nogales wins that argument. Their slogan is: Nogales: Our City actually does smell like ass and Taco Bell fire sauce.
Homer Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Nevermind about my Page, AZ guess. I checked Sonic's official site, no locations in Page. Guess that drive-in place in Page was an A&W after all. BUT, theres a good chance they were in Flagstaff. Looks like there are quite a few Sonic's around there. So, now another guess, they are going to Petrified Forest National Park to look at 2000 year old hard wood .
rollermonkey Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I see Robb is still wearing the skeleton gloves he bought at Nasu Highlands. We are all waiting for clues, Robb! Take your gloves off and take some pictures already!

I went there two years ago and there was more then just hard wood, but not a lot more stuff
robbalvey Posted January 16, 2006 Author Posted January 16, 2006 Ok, everyone.....Here is the LAST clue before we post the final update tomorrow.... Clue #1 - We've got a nice "Vue" Clue #2 - "Engine" Clue #3 - "Cliffs" Clue #4 - "It's funny!" Clue #5 - "Buffet!!!!!" Now, with this photo, it should be obvious where we're at....well, the state at least! Good luck! OK, TPR....where are we?
lapseofreason Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Yay for LAUGHLIN! I haven't been there yet but plan to someday. Hope you guys win some freaking money! -Amanda "I love casinos" V.
BarryH Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 They are at the Colorado Belle Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, NV. I don't think they are going to any amusement or theme parks this trip since they have Elissa's pappy Mr. White along for the ride. The Colorado Belle Hotel and Casino: http://www.coloradobelle.com/ According to Mapquest.com, north of Laughlin, NV is Las Vegas. There's also the Mojave National Preserve to the west. Since they went to the Grand Canyon, perhaps they are looking at natural wonders this trip?
TheGreatOne Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 perhaps they are looking at natural wonders this trip? Well, they didn't visit me in Phoenix...so that can't be the theme. -Bryan "One arrogant S.O.B." Wood
dougr Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 They're going to Schnepf Farms? http://www.rcdb.com/pd982.htm
Blazen_AZN Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 either on your way through laughlin or las vegas... They were just in Las Vegas... So I'll guess Laughlin. Woohoo! I called it!... I dunno what the final destination will be though... I'll work on the clues... EDIT: Are you going to Winterfest '06? January 28, 2006. This regional event will be sponsored by the South Central ACE Region and will be held at Six Flags over Texas (Arlington, TX). ACE=BUFFET? I was originally thinking that this trip would be themepark less... but i dont see much past laughlin...
Millenniumguy Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Blazen, if memory serves me correctly they are no longer ACE members so how can they go to Winterfest? Besides Texas is far from California. Hmm, Nevada, let's see Area 51?
Blazen_AZN Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 ^^ it was just a guess... But laughlin is RIGHT on the Nevada-Arizona border... yeah, they're not ace members... but heck i dunno what you have to do (or be) get in... but i think i'm way off anyway...
texasgiantrules Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 OMFG I LOVE LAUGHLIN!!! I HAVE FAMILY IN BULLHEAD CITY RIGHT ACROSS THE BORDER IN ARIZONA!!! the colorado belle has really good steak...buffet-i ate there for thanksgiving in 99!go to the golden nugget they have animatronic parrots!!!!!
disneygurlz2s Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Wait a minute.... 250 guys that look like him have to be rescued each year?? Where the hell do I sign up for that gig???????
maliboomer Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 ^ Well, the poster does tell you to 'Get Wet'.
Nrthwnd Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Um, I'm not really sure, after re-reading thru most of this thread, but - Is This Contest Over Yet? And who won??? Or isn't it over yet? Just being a curious bear, that I is.....
robbalvey Posted January 21, 2006 Author Posted January 21, 2006 Yeah, the site going down kind of put a damper on posting the rest of the pics. Sorry. I'll post our pics from the end of the trip tonight. Trust me, there were quite a few funny ones in there! --Robb
Nrthwnd Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 ^ Thass ok, fella. I just wasn't sure if I'd missed something before and after the 'black out', heh heh. Well, you still could post the second set, if there isn't a winner....yet???
rollermonkey Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Ooh, ooh! I know! Robb and Elissa are in Valencia, CA, resting after the ordeal of moving the entire TPR site to a dedicated server! YES! I want my piece of fluff, Robb!
saturday97 Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Just wondering if you have fixed the pix, I am still getting little red x's...
sfmmFREAK Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 the pics work fine for me. can't wait for some MORE
robbalvey Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 OK, first off, let me totally apologize for not getting these posted. The site going down for 2 1/2 days and then having to spend about 5 days getting everything on the new server really put a wrench into any updates we were doing. So anyway, where were we? Oh yes...... And our trip finally ends....where else? McDonalds!!!! I hope this final update was worth the wait! In this town, Panda Express "gourmet" chinese food is like an upscale 4-star restaurant! Damn, we're going to miss Engelbert Humperdink! "Take all the dam pictures you want...." "A really big shew." SHEW?!??! WTF is a "shew?!?!" Ahh, we found our entrance to the casino! OMG! This buffet even has FAST PASS!!!!! $5 buffet??? How do they make any money in this town??? NEED! MORE!! FUEL!!!!! "Blue goes for a pit stop....." (announcer voice) "...it's a close race.....And red takes the lead!!!!!" But dad says "I think I'm going to bet on the chariot races! I'm putting fifty bucks on the one in red." Elissa says "Time to do some more gambling!" Wally would do just fine in Laughlin! This is the closest we got to any roller coasters on this trip. The people in this town like to keep things simple....REALLY simple!!! Well, at least there was a micro brew here! Ahh, another sign of quality! This is the Laughlin version of the "Bellagio Fountains!" But hey, they have Wheel of Fortune here and Elissa actually won us a buffet or two! You know any place that has lots of "boat and trailer parking" is going to be a quality place! ...or more like the "truck stop" version of Las Vegas! Laughlin is an interesting place. It really is the "ghetto" Las Vegas.... And for those of you who guessed "LAUGHLIN" you were RIGHT!!!! Then we were on the road again and we asked everyone to guess where we went next..... And we were very respectful of nature. It was very beautiful.... And we took this visit VERY seriously! Our first stop was the Grand Canyon National Park (Park....get it?)
