robbalvey Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 What's up with this??? Better look.... (from RCDB) Umm...what the hell are these trains?!?!? --Robb
BarryH Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 It sure is funky. I'm too sleepy to caption it. My diabetes medication is making me sleepy.
arrowfanman Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Yea--the NL competition we just hosted on Coasterforce was to "reinvent the boomerang", thus causing me to have to find pictures of essentially EVERY boomerang! Lol...so I saw that one a couple months ago. Pretty crazy, and while some people don't like the look, I actually do.
niiicolaaah Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 hmm, that's pretty cool looking. At first, I was contemplating whether the headbanging would be any better but on second look... the restraints look pretty much the same as regular old boomerang ones.
rollermonkey Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 They look pretty good to me! It does look like legroom has been reduced, though. Off Topic: ^Zaneymon, that anime is too funny under your sig!
Jew Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I guess they left their train stored in Van Nuys for too long.
hyyyper Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 i believe these are the new KumbaK trains, KumbaK are some ppl from vekoma who started for themselves, they also made the new trains for The Efteling's Python: http://www.rcdb.com/ig897.htm?picture=18
Jeezus Juice Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Those wouldn't by chance be the new "KumbaK" steel coaster trains are they? I think they may have also been used on a vekoma corkscrew somewhere...weird. They do look pretty funky though. -Don EDIT ^ Homeboy beat me to it!
kenshinmac Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Hey at least it doesn't look like my knees would be killed by the seats in front of me. I gotta give them a congrats for that. Heck those look cool too...
Scaparri Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Yeah, I noticed these once while hopping around rcdb. I'm not sure if they are really cool looking or really dumb looking. Either way, it looks like a better ride than the old trains.
coastered Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Those trains aren't new Kumbak trains, but the new Vekoma looping coaster trains. Here is a pic i found on there website
rollermonkey Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 ^ + ^^ Nope, RCDB says they are the new Vekoma MK1211 trains. I see why you feel they look like the KumbaK trains, though.
Shockwave Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Ooh, very contemporary. Gravity Max has a different style of train to the usual ones as well I believe. Wonder if they make the ride any smoother though? To be fair, they're on a almost brand new Boomerang so it shouldn't be really bad.
viking86 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I might be wrong, but isnt that the first Boomerang with magnetic brakes? Im pretty sure I read that somewhere.
BarryH Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I bet that Robb and Elissa are planning a trip to Finland, just to ride this weird Boomerang.
peteb Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Here's a picture from Vekoma's website of the MK1211 trains.
kenshinmac Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Here's a picture from Vekoma's website of the MK1211 trains. Hey it is that just without the nose cone thingy... Weird...
peteb Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 That nose kinda reminds me of an anteater; I think I'd tell 'em to leave it off too. What else is interesting are the new wheel assemblies that look like they have individual pivots connected to each other with a tie rod. I wonder if these run a lot smoother than the old Arrow or Vekoma trains.
ncf Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I was supposed to ride it last summer but we went to Särkänniemi instead This year I'll definately ride it as I go there for Thunderbird!
SharkTums Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Does anyone else find these trains hideously ugly!?!?? I HATE THEM!!!!
waterviper Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Yes they may be ugly, even as ugly as TTD trains but they also may be smooth!!!! Maybe thats the new coaster trend the uglier they are the smoother they are! Guess you just have to go ride it to find out!!
