Jon Sabo Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I think that was cool that they actually open the restraints for you. Either that was for a media photo-op or part of the normal operation (and because the ride was new). Perhaps Chris can add to this, but I would suspect that the Japanese employees are more helpful and friendly in creating an nice environment for its guests and they probably do that as a courtesy for their guests.
thomas2 Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 This thing keeps amazing me. The trains look so much better then X's and they look really comfortable. That video is just awsome Man I gotta go to Japan
Ed Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 Hot. <3 That video shows how absolutely immense this ride is.
haux Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I hope S&S can update X's trains with this style. These seem a bit more comfortable.
coasterguy618 Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 IMO, it looks better than X. I hope someday I get to ride a 4-D.
SharkTums Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Hmmm... I guess I'm going to have to go against everyone (I know, big shock!) but to me the ride looks REALLY similar to X, much more than I thought it would be. Also, don't know if it was the filming or not, but it already looks almost as rough as X is now...not as smooth as I thought it could be at least when it opens. Well, I guess I'll find out next summer!
chaos Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Well, when the train was leaving the station, the camera was shaking a lot too, so I won't judge the roughness of the ride until I get on it myself someday. (or until you guys give all of us a review of the ride when you get back from the Japan trip)
X147 Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 The test seats for EJ are still at X under the storage track. If anyone notices, on the pillar where the head rests are, theres a box in the middle. Im not to sure what that box is, but its 100% identical to the test seats that were used on X, because at one point, S&S did test EJ stuff on X a while ago, and they used some parts from the train that was in rehab at the time. Im gonna snag a few pics for you guys tomorrow.
rollermonkey Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Someone asked what the big fin sticking up from the trains are for. (Where the X's are on X.) The flat gear that is part of the rotation mechanism slides up inside that cover when the train rotates. It's purely decorative covering so you aren't looking at the gear teeth. Although it would keep water out of the mechanism while the train is right side up, too.
socalMAN123 Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Wow, that looks amazing! This is probably gonna be way better than X. I just probably won't be able to ride it for a long time. ---Brent
Archie_1990 Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Wow, looking at the photos of X and Eejanaika. I've got to agree with SharkTums. The only (ONLY) difference is the full-full, which replaces the hill on X. These coasters do share more in common than how they are unique. There's only 4 differences. It's still going to be a great coaster with the full-full. I though the screens on the trains were DVD's. X 1. Station 2. L Turn 3. Lift 4. Dip 5. Vert Drop w/ rotation 6. Inside RV Turn w/ rotation 7. Hill with Flip 8. R Turn 9. Half-Half 10. Outside RV Turn w/ rotation 11. Half-Half 12. Brake Run Eejanaika 1. Station 2. R Turn 3. Lift 4. Dip 5. Vert Drop w/ rotation 6. Inside RV Turn with Flip 7. Full-Full 8. Overbanked L Turn w/ rotation 9. Half-Half 10. Outside RV Turn w/ rotation 11. Half-Half 12. Brake Run w/ rotation
peteb Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 EJ seems to be a lot smoother that X; just look at the seat position with respect to the chassis; on X there is a lot of backlash movement, even out of the station. Look at the train with respect to the track and background and it is tracking pretty smoothly. I like the big electronics box on the trailing set of wheels.
rollermonkey Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I noticed that car and wondered about it. Is it the opposite of a zero car or does it serve a completely different function? Does X have that thing?
SLUSHIE Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 X has that, it just doesnt have a huge computer sitting on top of it. http://www.rcdb.com/ig750.htm?picture=27 The reason its there is because of the way the cars are designed. Its the same as all the other cars it just doent have a car attached to it.
Mr Stratosphere Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Now those random Black Headrests that were on one of the trains for X make sense!!!! They were test headrests for EJ!! To me they didnt do much they were just cushier.. To me X will always be the best no matter how many 4D coasters they make just because it was the first. Just like so many people love Magnum XL 200 just because it was the first to break the 200ft mark and the same for Millennium.. John
arrowfanman Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Also, don't know if it was the filming or not, but it already looks almost as rough as X is now...not as smooth as I thought it could be at least when it opens. Well, I guess I'll find out next summer! To be fair, that POV was bumpy when the train was just meandering to the lift or cresting the top of the lift! I he couldn't hold it well during those parts, I cant expect much during the fast, windy parts where your twisting every-which direction. I think the filming had a large part to do with it. -Jahan P.S. Although, I dont think it will be quite the same in 1-year's time.
X147 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 ^Noooo, those black headrests are park of the X train...and are still there. To cheap to paint yellow thats all.
Freefallbestrideever Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Looks great, i just hope i can ride it in my lifetime, but i still prefer Xs Laker colors And what was the deal with that huge thing at the end of train? I also noticed it doesn't have the wheel covers like X does and not as many cars.......
Mr Stratosphere Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 ^Noooo, those black headrests are park of the X train...and are still there. To cheap to paint yellow thats all. Actually they are totally different than the headrests that X already has.. Clearly they are test head rests, compare them to the headrests on EJ http://www.themeparkreview.com/solace04/solace38.jpg http://www.asovini.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=63&sid=32d8fa89a690acf73e2722210ac7e603
suave1226 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I still dont understand why the train rotates in the turn before the lift and on the brake run. Seems kinda stupid to me almost like someone who was designing the ride wasnt paying attention. Oh well the full full looks great but if you look at the video can it really be counted as an inversion. It just seems like the people are just sideways when their in it.
Ed Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 Maybe the bit before the lift is to get people used to the cars rotating?
haux Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Actually they are totally different than the headrests that X already has.. Clearly they are test head rests, compare them to the headrests on EJ They're not so much test headrests as they are just an earlier version of them.
X147 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Actually they are totally different than the headrests that X already has.. Clearly they are test head rests, compare them to the headrests on EJ They're not so much test headrests as they are just an earlier version of them. To get some things straight here: The equipment that was brought by S&S to be tested on X for EJ was ONLY the pickle fork. The seats (harness, headrest, etc) are actual X seats that were attached to the EJ frame. Thats it. The black headrests that are on the X train now are the regular head rests, that were repadded, but not painted. Nothing of EJ is on the X train right now. Yes, the EJ stuff is still under the storage track, in a crate. I took a picture, but it was at night. Ill post em up later.
iZak Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I wonder if SFMM stays open, if they would plan on refurbishing X with the dropping floor? Also, now it seems that S&S has worked on the trains a bit...Perhaps the two that are in "rehab" now could be refitted or replaced with the new design? Just a thought...
okinawaboy11 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Uh, why does EJ have the computers in the middle the two seats? Does X have that and I just don't know?
