It's still just a five year deal.  Unless they've always done five year deals, they could be evaluating what to do with the IP going forward.

The contract had a 5-year extension clause that they chose to utilize.  This contract was initially agreed upon in 2017, so "still just" an 8 year deal.  Nobody said anything about them "re-evaluating the license" then because it's a stupid idea driven by click-bait and division-inducing philosophy.  Don't encourage it.

You can dream all you want, but there is no rational reason to believe that SFEC is actively considering not continuing to have Peanuts-themed kids areas at Legacy CF parks at any point in the future.

Why are people quoting The US Sun as a credible source?

I  don't know why people quote  any media outlets as completely credible sources.

Not to derail this conversation about passes. Seems like i missed something that people keep saying Peanuts characters might be leaving  cedar fair parks? I rad that they own the rights till 2030 for now?

Not sure if i missed something else.

You didn't derail. It's the SF corporate thread and you have every right to bring up any topic relating to SF as a company. Even I'm getting tired of my own posts about the legacy memberships, just haven't been able to get a satisfactory answer. No worries

So last post about the food on legacy SF memberships until I simply try it out sometime next year and see if it works. I was as an ACE event at SFSTL and asked management at the lunch. One person flat out told me he had no idea if it was carrying over or not. The other (a very long time employee of the park) simply repeated the "all pass add ons" will be usable at all parks. Problem being this isn't an add on. It was included as part of the membership upon purchase of the membership. I know for a fact not everyone with a membership has the same food offerings, it depended on when you bought it, so.............that's where I think the confusion is. I really don't think they know and it will be a matter of just waiting to see if it is accepted or not.

Six Flags has officially announced the sale of seven properties to real estate investment firm EPR Properties:

https://www.sixflags.com/blog/looking-forward-a-new-chapter-for-six-flags

At Six Flags, creating unforgettable moments has always been at the heart of everything we do. Every twist, turn, splash, and scream-worthy drop is driven by one mission: bringing joy to millions of guests and families year after year. Sometimes, staying true to that mission means making thoughtful decisions about where we focus our energy so we can keep delivering the thrills and experiences our guests expect.

Today, we’re sharing an important update about the future of Six Flags—one that strengthens our foundation, sharpens our focus, and supports long-term growth across our parks.
Streamlining Our Portfolio to Focus on What Matters Most

As part of our ongoing strategy to optimize and strengthen our park portfolio, Six Flags has entered into definitive agreements to sell seven parks to EPR Properties. These parks include:

  • Michigan’s Adventure (Grand Rapids, MI)
  • Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston (Galveston, TX)
  • Six Flags Great Escape (Queensbury, NY)
  • Six Flags La Ronde (Montreal, QC)
  • Six Flags St. Louis (St. Louis, MO)
  • Valleyfair (Minneapolis, MN)
  • Worlds of Fun (Kansas City, MO)

This step allows us to concentrate on the Six Flags parks with the greatest potential for innovation, expansion, and elevated guest experiences. That means by focusing today, we’re building the foundation for a stronger, more exciting future.
What This Means for Our Guests

First and foremost: guest experience remains a top priority.

EPR Properties will partner with experienced operators—Enchanted Parks for the six U.S. parks and La Ronde Operations, Inc. for La Ronde—to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. Here’s what you can expect:

  • All seven parks will continue normal operations through the 2026 season.
  • All 2026 season passes and active memberships will be honored throughout 2026, including multi‑park access.
  • EPR retains the right to use the Six Flags brand through 2026, which means you will continue to see the same names, signage, and experiences during this transition period.

In short, that means uninterrupted fun. Learn more in our FAQs at the end of this blog.
A Thoughtful Decision

We understand how meaningful these parks are to the communities they serve and to the guests who have grown up visiting them. Our teams at these locations have created countless memories, and they are an important part of the Six Flags family.

We are confident in the future of these parks under the care of EPR and its operating partners, who have strong experience managing parks of this scale. At the same time, this decision allows Six Flags to invest more deeply in the parks with the greatest opportunity for growth and innovation.

I think the thing they did wrong was to be located on land that became more valuable than all the other assets of the park ?

Wow I wonder how many rides will have their name changed to something else!?

I would have to assume all the DC themeing will go, easy enough to change the name of a coaster or flat. The question is what about Justice League? That would have to be a complete ride re do

Six Flags has announced that the sale of the six United States-based parks to EPR Properties (who will partner with Enchanted Parks to operate them) has successfully closed. The sale of Six Flags La Ronde in Montreal, Quebec is expected to close later this year.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: FUN) (“Six Flags” or the “Company”), North America’s largest regional amusement park operator, today announced the successful closing of the previously announced sale of six of its U.S. parks to EPR Properties (NYSE: EPR) (“EPR”), marking a significant milestone in the Company’s ongoing portfolio optimization strategy.

The six U.S. parks now owned by EPR are Valleyfair (Minnesota), Worlds of Fun (Missouri), Michigan’s Adventure (Michigan), Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston (Texas), Six Flags St. Louis (Missouri), and Six Flags Great Escape (New York). The sale of Six Flags La Ronde (Montreal, QC) is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, following the satisfaction of applicable closing conditions and receipt of required approvals.

“This divestiture reflects Six Flags’ disciplined approach to portfolio optimization and the decisive action we are taking to concentrate our capital and operational focus on properties with the greatest long-term growth potential,” said Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly. “This portfolio refinement further positions Six Flags to execute more effectively in 2026 and beyond, and I am confident in the opportunities ahead as we continue taking steps to drive improved operating performance, margin expansion, free cash flow generation, and earnings growth.”

EPR intends to partner with Enchanted Parks to run the six domestic properties. EPR will retain the right to utilize the Six Flags brand through the end of 2026, subject to certain requirements, and no significant impact on guests is expected during this transition. The parks will continue their regular operating schedules, and all season passes sold will be recognized through the 2026 operating season, including multi-park pass privileges at other parks within the Six Flags’ portfolio.

So disappointed to see the news of restructuring (again) and the return of park presidents to some of the big parks (SFOG & SFOT included)

but absolutely crushed to hear that Six Flags and Jeffrey Siebert have parted ways.   A huge loss to Six Flags regardless on which side the separation initiated from

He did SO much to improve not only SFFT in his years there as park president - but so much to improve the regional properties in the past year

he will be truly missed and I wish him the best in future endeavors

The merger fucking sucks.

this honestly has not much to do with the merger.

he's taking personal time, and it's his choice to step away.

he told me it's an amicable split, and referred to this as a "pause in his career" and that he'll be back in the industry in some form after a break.

(and yes, I believe him because he did tell me more details that aren't for public consumption).

Maybe he wants to move to New England and run our park. Very curious about what's coming next for SFNE and the rest of the "leaderless" parks... Always thought we were a big moneymaker for the company.

I'm gonna laugh when Herschend buys Fiesta and Dorney and he's in charge of Dollywood.

Somehow I highly doubt that he would accept a position with Herschend that didn't have him staying in San Antonio, like "specified in the contract" staying in San Antonio.

Kbrylczyk is referring to a current rumor regarding SFFT & Dorney

(for the record, I don't believe it)
