"You should go on the Carowinds one it's taller and faster and no shoulder harness."

At least they didnt say "OMG dont ride the one at Carowinds, it doesnt have any shoulder thingies it isnt safe."

I've heard similar things. For example EVERYBODY in my school is convinced because "you come out of your seat." I also know someone who says that Apollo's Chariot is dangerous because someone got hit in the face with a bird. This is also the same kid that told his friends that Flight of Fear is made of wood.

Oh yea forgot to mention when I went to Scream Park in Brooklyn this past Saturday I got on the Zenobio these two young girls sat on the other side and while the ride was going one yelled this thing is flipping upside down. I just laughed out loud.

Well, Fabio did get hit in the face by a duck on it... so he's kinda right... though i don't think you have to worry about that if you're not in the front seat

On Robb's pov of Pyreneese, some guy was complaining that all inverted roller coasters were the same. The only original one is the slc at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Yup the dozens of slcs are no way the same and are all original.

A year and a half or so ago, while waiting in line for Top Thrill Dragster, a lady and her husband told me that it was closed earlier in the day because the "rubber bands it uses to launch weren't stretched out entirely" and that's why as the morning progressed they slowly allowed more and more rows to fill up (those who have been to TTD know its common in the mornings to only run the first few rows). This allowed the rubber bands to warm up and stretch out slowly. I really thought she was joking, but I quickly became aware she was dead set on believing TTD uses rubber bands (or even something elastic) to launch. My buddy, who is by no means an enthusiast, even had a laugh at that one.

That doesn't make it dangerous. And it also isn't a reason to tell people not to ride it.

I agree, I'm just stating the facts. If somebody's stupid enough to think that its too dangerous to ride because someone got hit in the face by a bird, then there's really not much left you can do to convince them to ride it.

Um, I've been hit in the face by a bird just walking down a sidewalk, so...no big deal.

A comment on Robb's I305 video:

"You should go on the Carowinds one it's taller and faster and no shoulder harness."

Stupid GP that think they know everything about coasters.

Thanks for making me want to look at that video to see that comment.. I feel like banning everyone that has commented on that video now

On a video of a Main Street pianist at Disneyland, a now-deleted comment likely asked whether it was at Anaheim or Orlando (though the title said Disneyland, it's a somewhat fair question). The reply was just awful; not because it was a GP theme park fail, but because it was also an epic geography fail:

its disneyland in america not orlando

The fact that they have nets up on either side of the first drop to prevent geese (not ducks) from flying across the track makes the ride a wee bit safer for riders these days.

*From a gp that commented on one of my friends' statuses about the Glee episode shot at SFMM* Keep in mind that this guy lives in the same state as the park.

Okay, did they like go all the way to California? Or is there a Six Flags in Ohio? Lol

Actually, there are TWO SF parks in Ohio! King's Island and Ceder Point!

Movieworld post a picture/video of an overseas coaster every week, this week they posted a pic of Son of Beast.

Some comments:

Why can't Australia have coasters like this?
This ride is closed. Was the saddest sight to view such a spectacular coaster no longer in use though! Perhaps u could also feature other KI coasters like Firehawk (a 'lying down' coaster) - love that US has standing up, lying down and rotating fwd coasters!!
Is that at movie world?

This isn't really a stupid story, just kind of weird and freaky.

On Timberwolf at Worlds of Fun, back in the late 80's or early 90's, two girls switched seats during the ride - probably just before the first drop, and one of them fell off the ride. My friends and I were talking about the incident while we were in line for the ride in 2002, and the lady in front of us told us she was friends with that girl. It's pretty weird, but she was telling the truth, and I felt pretty bad for bringing up the tragic story in front of her.

How is it tragic? They switched seats...is it possible to hand out the Darwin Award to two participants?

Ooooh boy. While I was waiting in line to get into SFMM today before the gates had opened (Only spent about a couple of hours there), this family behind me was a GP goldmine. Some of their comments went like this:

*Looks at the sign that says "Six Flags Spring Break Presented by Nerds candy"* "Six Flags Spring Break? Is that a ride?"

"I heard there's a Six Flags Ceder Point somewhere in Ohio"

*Looks at map that shows categories of thrill* "Which ride is Moderate Thrill?"

On the

I always get freaked out on rides like this. What if the cart falls into the water D: You drown..

Surprisingly, this person has 15 likes. Then, this person respondes:

Dont be scared and the cart is safetly attached to the railings the only problem with rollercoasters they break down sometimes

I didn't know the track is called railings.

Edit: I also noticed this post.

So.... they took Big Bad Wolf out of Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA and moved it to another park?

 Its generally a good idea to NOT trust park employees to know ride facts.

That reminds me of a ride operator on Medusa (SFDK) who said it had sand-filled track when I said it had sand-filled supports. Seriously, how can you put sand in track?

Posted

^Not so sure about Medusa, but I know that B&M tends to fill both their supports and tracks with sand to quiet the "roar". So there is a good chance that that employee is actually correct. But again, I don't know about Medusa specifically.

I think the track in Medusa is filled with sand to quiet to coaster, but most B&M coasters don't have that.

is stupid by itself, but some of the comments are possibly even stupider. For people who can't be bothered clicking the link, its a POV of Goliath at SFMM titled "Biggest coaster drop in the world"
