Rct3man777
At Hersheypark someone behind me in line said that Lightning Racers cost 5 Billion dollars. LOL, I don't know very much about coaster prices but I know THAT is definatley wrong! Isn't the most expensive in the world like...120 million? [Then again, this included themeing, technology, etc. The ride itself would probably cost what...30M?]
sixflagsguy5
Usually wooden coasters go anywhere from $3- $7 million. Steel coasters vary, but a B&M is usually $12- $20 million. The most expensive were the two strata coasters and I think the coasters themselves were around $25 million and the theming/ queue was more. Rollerman87
When I was at SFoG (no not a batman story) a few weeks ago I was in line for Goliath watching that Top 10 Six flags coasters thing on the TV and they show SM; ROS, but they show the first drop and then its off and onride footage are clearly a different track, what looks like Ninja from SFMM to me. So anyway this convo happened. Guy: That ride is huge (after seeing first drop) AND it goes upside down, WE HAVE TO RIDE THAT! Me: That ride doesn't go upside down that footage is of a different coaster, see the way the track is made up and how its different? Guy: What are you talking about! The tracks are both red and everyone knows looping coasters have different tracks for drops and loops! Me: (turning around rolling eyes) Yeh I guess your right... First, which ride are you referring to? If it's the ride I'm thinking of, then wow, how'd they mix a coaster with the track below you with one where the track is above you? dammie16@vt.edu
Sorry its the superman in SFA, Maryland so MF style track against arrow/vekoma style track EDIT: I may be wrong in which coaster is Ninja in SFMM maybe I'm talking so I'll say it was like Ninja in SFoG to clarify. rgb60
I overheard this conversation while waiting in line for Phoenix this past Saturday night. Guy 1: So is this ride fast? Guy 2: Well, there's no magnetics involved, it runs totally on momentum. Me thinking: I guess we're backward here in PA. We don't have any of them launched woodies. MisterP
This March in line for POTC at Disneyland, I heard a middle-aged woman say to her preteen daughter, "The Pirates movies were so popular that Disney made this ride..."

Manny In England
^^ There's some truth to that. The movies were so popular Disney attacked the classic by putting robots of the movie characters everywhere.

PhantomNick
This was years ago, while enjoying a day at Kennywood. I was in line for Thunderbolt when I heard the following conversation behind me: Son: "Dad, what's THAT big green roller coaster over there?" Father: "That's the Steel Phantom's Revenge" Son: "Oh. It looks cool. Why do they call it that?" Father: "Because there was an older coaster called Steel Phantom and it had loops. Then they took out the loops and had all that track straightened out and painted to make this new ride. It was a real tough thing to do since it was cold outside when they were having to bend all that steel!" I didn't have the heart to tell him that the old track was scrapped. Besides, my friend and I were laughing too hard!
MisterP
^^ There's some truth to that. The movies were so popular Disney attacked the classic by putting robots of the movie characters everywhere. I am a huge Disneyland fan and I think that whole thing is blown out of proportion....three Depp figures that are actually very cool (and two of them don't exactly stick out, and the third is where there was nothing previously...). The water effect is very cool. The only thing I miss is the old ship captain's dialogue ("strike your colors, you bloomin' cockaroaches!"). To me, that could be the only legit complaint...but Barbossa is a cool figure too. I am as much of a purist as anyone, but riding the new version this spring, I thought it looked as spectacular as ever... Then again, I am very far from a DL "regular"... NASA Guy
Man Standing Outside Vortex, looking at this view: This Ride Goes Upside Down, Right? Men in Line for Flight of Fear: Man 1: Is this ride safe? Man 2: Well, people have died on it, besides that sure! Man 1: How Many? Man 2: 6 Man 1: Wow, that's a lot for a Coaster like this! Man 2: I know, you can expect at least 1-2 deaths, that's pretty standerd. But 6 is one away from the 7 deaths limit!
