Several years ago a few days after some gay event was held at Kings Dominion, one of those letters to the editor appeared in a newspaper not too far from where I lived. The person who wrote the letter made all these wild claims that had taken place at KD as a result of this event such as people were walking around the park ( and riding the coasters )...in the nude !!! How a little girl was molested by a bunch of gay men in the restroom near the Shockwave...how the Richmond, VA city police were called to KD and over 100 gay men/women were arrested for "crimes against society"...etc...

About a week or so after the letter was published, KD wrote a letter in response. Lets just say Kings Dominion was not very nice to either the letter writer and the paper for even publishing such a thing without checking the facts to see what was true ( of course none of it was ) and how the paper should be ashamed of themselves for "spreading totally false rumors !!!".

I really don't know what ( or if ) KD did towards the person who wrote that letter since KD could had sued that person but I am pretty sure KD did go after that newspaper though. For about a year or two after the letter was published I noticed a number of Kings Dominion ads had appeared..some were full page ads !!! Before any of this, KD never did advertise at all in that paper.

So my guess is that part of the settlement the paper ran all those ads for KD...for free.

I love it when people call names by the wrong name. And not anything small, but I'm talking a completely wrong name. For example:

-Wicked Twister (CP) = Twisted Sister

-Blue Streak (CP) = The Racer

-Millennium Force (CP) = Magnum Force

I heard someone call the Racer (KI) The Beast once. I got a kick out of that one.

In the middle of Seattle, my aunt who had come to visit Washington was walking around with us, and this begger was like "Excuse me m'am, do you have some money? I'd like to get a chicken sandwitch at Subway, please. I don't have any money, so can I have some please? Just a little bit." "*sigh* Fine, here's $5." It was kinda freaky....

^What this has to do with GP or coasters, I dunno. It doesn't seem praticularly weird or stupid to me either.(except that in Israel $5 is alot to give a begger but I don't know what its like in America, or how much these sandwiches cost)

^Heh... What you said has a funny point as long as you don't overthink it.

I think the example would be best in waterparks... rollercoasters people bother to remember often, but even I as a park enthusiast have trouble keeping in mind waterslide names.

I've heard someone ask the opperator for a ride say 'When's the rain gunna' stop?' I chuckled to myself thinking how stupid! Also, I remember walking up to Nemesis at Alton Towers, a girl said, 'OMG! The bottom of the train on that roller coaster fell off. Look, you can see they're feet!' - I slapped myself on the head. (Not literally)

^ Your wait is over!

I'm Currently in the school library and just 2 minutes ago, when I was looking at oblivion pictures, someone behind me said just that. I did explain it to him and he understood.

While standing near Face/Off back during the Paramount days at KI, i saw a woman scream and freak out saying "the coasters going backwards, oh my god!" after the brake released for it to go back through the layout. Other people were trying to calm her down and a lot were laughing, but she seemed genuinely terrified for a few seconds until she figured it out.

>_< Oh my gosh, that is almost word for word a joke I used in one of my comics, which I considered not using because I figured what the character says is unrealisticly stupid.(It was about one of the local convertible busses)

I'm goiong to bypass all the people who ask me if Haunt mazes are rides, that's not nearly as much of a zinger as I got today. Some lady asked me at the EXIT of Labyrinth, AFTER she had already walked through, "What maze is this?, The Vampire one, right?"

^ Maybe she just didn't read the sign walked through thought it was good and wanted to tell all her friends.

Or call some friends to tell them where to meet at.

Anyways I'll contribute with one from my mom's work she told me about. She works as a pizza order taker over the phone's at Pop Century, and this lady calls her and starts ordering Chinese Food before my mom can say anything. She then politely tells the lady she called the wrong number.

I found this funny, it could've been a slip of the finger onto the wrong number but it's pretty dang hilarious.

In my Principles of Engineering class, we were going through a power point, and a picture of Psyclone from SFMM came up. Everyone was saying things like "Omg that looks crazy!" and "That looks like so much fun!"

I kind of laughed a little bit.

1) That coaster supposedly sucked.

2) It doesn't exist.

3) I've been to SFMM after Psyclone was taken down.

I told someone that it was torn down, and they said: "No it's not! I rode it this summer! It's at Six Flags in Texas!"

^Something like that happened in our chemistry class. A picture of Flight Deck showed up and I nearly killed myself holding in the laughter from the "That looks awesome!" comments. (Someone said, "I bet Dan knows where this coaster is..." and I felt I had to say it after THAT challenge. )

^^What's so stupid about that? If you change to a GP perspective it really makes alot of sense.

^You should have told them it was the smoothest ride ever! THAT would be funny.

That's one of my top pet peeves. . . roller coasters that look like other roller coasters that people think they've ridden. I've shown people pictures of V2 and other Intamin Impulses and automatically their reaction is "OMG THAT'S STEEL VENOM!" It annoys me a LOT.

Friend- "Hey Daniel, did you hear they are changing the name of Chain next year?"

Me- "The name of what?"

Friend- "The Chain at Kentucky Kingdom! They already painted it and everything!"

Recently I was sitting at lunch with a bunch of my co-workers while on break. In the employee cafeteria there are pictures of rides on the walls. One of them is a picture of Flight Deck at CGA. Everyone was completely convinced that it was Afterburn, even though the train in the picture has no decals on the wheel covers and the track is black. They wouldn't believe me even after explaining the difference in the track. They just passed it off saying, it used to be painted black, no, no it didn't...

I work with the gp.

At disney typhoon lagoon outside shark reef there's this ginormous shark jaw that you can actually stand in (Replica of a real prehistoric shark jaw) and the little sign says the shark "still haunts the waters to this very day. On my way out of the shark reef this woman is yelling at the lifeguard going "I didn't get to see the skeleton one!"
