What board do you read first?

Normally just the Donkey board and sometimes the Ask Alvey board.

 

How often do you visit?

Every day, with three or four visits per day. Normally I`ll stay for about 20 minutes per visit.

 

How many pages through each board do you read?

Most of the time only Page1 because there are so many topics!

 

Are there certain types of posts you read more than others?

Only topics that I`m interested in. No TRs without Photos. Topics from people I had some kind of contact.

 

Do you do anything else besides reading the forum?

I used to read all the Japan planning information. That was so helpful!

It`s really great that this forum growed so fast, but on the other hand it`s so hard to follow some stories because the topics are falling down so quick. With the time there are so many topics and you just can pick some of them! Is there a chance to build a new forum category???

 

I`ll often miss the sticky topics. Maybe you can change the colour of the sticked topics or us another font?

 

Normally I`ll enter TPR through the front page.

 

And by the way I never looked at the UK forum, because I`ve to let you ride all the Uk coasters alone (we had no vacation at this time of year otherwise we had loved to join you)

I have the TPR front page bookmarked since I check that first. You guys usually post updates every few days, especially now that more parks and new attractions are opening.

I always check the "roller coasters, theme parks, and donkeys" forums before anything else. Usually, there's a construction update from somewhere or a PTR from somewhere. I always check those. I have OCD when it comes to something like that. Then, I check the games forum to see if the "Paramount Xtreme" park has an update. That RCT2 game looks amazing. Then, I'll either head back to the roller coaster forum or see what's going on at "random, random, random". Regardless, this site keeps me more than entertained while being bored at work.

My TPR visit events come in the following order:

 

1) Check homepage for any updates

 

2)Check the boards, usually from the bottom up (Starting at the Random and ending at the Roller Coasters thread, to see if there's anything new, or anything random.

 

3) Doublecheck if there was anything I missed.

 

4) Reply to anything that applies to me (Such as the TPR Art thread)

 

5) Maybe check out some of the old photos of different parks if there's nothing else to do.

 

6) *Rarely* Maybe if I really have nothing better to do, I'll fish for some really old topics, just to read them for old memories (Like my old Skimboarding TR or Paintball TR)

 

That's what a typical TPR visit's like for me.

I usually log in, check the donkey board to see what's been happening, and then hop through the questions and random board at my leisure. Sometimes I'll go into chat, but I usally end up forgetting I'm in there!

I check in a few times throughout the evening. First to see if there are any new updates on the home page.

Actually that is a good question. How often do you all check the home page? You know the very front of the site: www.themeparkreview.com or do you just come to the forums?

The front page is my computer's home page, so I enter the forums from there.

My visits are usually while I'm at work, 11PM-7:30AM (Sunday through Thursday nights). First stop is the TP-RC-&D, then Random...

 

Lately, on Sunday nights into Monday mornings , I'll usually check the Video contest board first (and about every 20 minutes until that week's contest entries are posted) partly waiting for mine to show up but mostly to view and give my thoughts on the entries). After that I'll go through about the first page or two of TP-RC-&D until I reach something I've already read. PTRs always get my attention, and whatever else catches my interest. Non-photo TRs usually only get a read from me if it's a park I'm interested in (particularly one I've never been to).

 

Next, on to Random. I skim Random more than read it, usually just a few from the first page, but every so often something catches my eye that I need to read closely and sometimes respond to. Random PTRs are always fun, too.

 

After that I'll stop in to chat (usually just to lurk, since I'm only recently active here, despite a more-than-a-year membership, but sometimes I'll throw in random responses or even a legitimate contribution to the discussion). I usually keep either the main board index or TP-RC-&D open and refresh it every so often.

 

When I leave from chat, be it just for a few minutes or for the night, I'll go through TP-RC-&D again to refresh it.

 

The rest of the forums usually only get a read from me if there's something I need to find, plus I'll check for new video uploads, both "official" and "amateur professional" (I'll be adding ot that board very soon) about once a week.

 

Of course, the news on the main page always gets a check for updates, and a quick read if there are any.

Usually I start by checking the home page and then going to the forums and starting at the theme park section and going down. I read a lot of them but don't respond that much unless something really pops out, and sometimes I keep up with some topics. I really like the site, it's fun, and I usually spend an hour or so on it almost every day.

Every day really, sometimes in ICT at school but very rarely. It's the forum I post on the most now these days because I know I will get a friendly response if I do.

I love Photo TR's because I like seeing what parks are like on the whole not just the coasters, I like the funny topics too because they cheer me up when i'm down. (that sounded lame)

I go on the chatroom sometimes but usually no ones on there, or I go on the Photo section because I like looking at the retro TR's because the captions are funny "This coaster features 3 loops!". Man how times have changed!

I just want to say this forum is great! you keep up the friendly atmosphere very well, and it's not all self elitest like other forums which is great. Even new people are treated with some respect! There are also no categories e.g "cool people". I would probably fall into that category.

- Are there certain types of posts you read more than others? Everything involving whichever trip I am going on next. Almost every Photo Trip Report, and usually the Movies and Sexual Orientation threads in Random...

 

- Do you do anything else besides reading the forum - PM's with the friends I have made here - download videos of coasters that I love - will read (and sometimes re-read) Massive Photo Trip Reports because they make me laugh. Don't often chat.

 

- Tell us anything else you want about your TPR visits! - I just like keeping in touch with the folks here. I lived vicariously through the posts, then took the Mid-west trip. Now I look at parks that I will be visiting, and revel in the wit and (usually) intelligent discourse on this site. Since the MOD's and Alvey's do such a good job at keeping this place clean and intelligent, it's the only forum I visit. Others give me a headache just looking at them.

I usually visit the Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, and Donkeys forum, followed by Ask Alvey and then I seldom visit Random or Coaster models.

I visit the TPR coaster photos page, but I usually see the newer pics on the forum, but it's cool to check out older updates. I go into the Chat sometimes, but usually no one is there when I check.

I usaully read the first or last page of topics, hence some stupid posts. But if it's something that really interests me, I'll go through the whole thing.

As far as topics/posts, any TR that is interesting, anything that is related to a park in my area, new coasters, updates, ect. Usually 75% of the topics I've seen.

-I start reading at the top and work my way down hitting each board that has something new since my last visit.

 

-I'm usually online every day. I even check up every now and then in my computer programming class at school.

-I'm sometimes on the chat room, just to pass time when bored. I also check the main page for new major updates every now and then.

I visit the site at least once everyday and the first thing I do is click on 'view posts since your last visit'

 

This brings all the new topics up as well as any updates to topic and if a title attracts me I will go take a look, which perhaps underlines your frequent reminders to make topic titles 'expansive', 'self explanatory' blah blah.

 

When I have reviewed this I go back to the home page to take a look at the 'sticky' stuff particularly just in case I missed something

I think the most interesting part of coaster sites, especially this one, are finding peoples opinions on all the things going on in the coaster world.

A lot of coaster sites can give you an insight on different things, but it's all the laughs along the way that makes TPR, in my mind, the best.

How often do I visit? Pretty much every day because when I check my email, I find Reply Notifiers so I click. Then I hit Login and tab the above, and go through the new stuff.

 

How many pages? Depends. First I see if the topic catches my interest. Then I see the first post and see if I'm interested in everyone's post.

Not especially... I'm quite split about alot of things so I just read posts, then out.
