The Great Zo
To me it seems that Six Flags is 100% on the RMC train (pun intended)... Have to give credit to Six Flags, for all the criticism they get (much of it deserved) -- jumping on the RMC bandwagon right away has them positioned well against their competitors. I'm thinking several years ahead -- what if over half of the parks in the Six Flags chain have a RMC coaster, while Cedar Fair parks remain shut out? Depending on who gets their orders in, that's not unfathomable, and it would put Six Flags in a very advantageous position from a high-end coaster perspective. More than looking at just this one coaster (Wildfire) as a game changer, I think the key aspect from a wider perspective is that it's a continued game evolution that RMC is pretty much all by themselves in right now. It's going to force other manufacturers (and parks / park chains that aren't yet on-board) to find ways to compete, and the winner out of that battle will be the enthusiast. On another note, am I the only guy who wants RMC to build an out-and-back sometime a la El Toro with more hills? Goliath (SFGAm) might be as close as they're going to get to a traditional out-and-back. RMC is pretty twisted!
ajfelice
This is an RMC, not a B&M. Maybe supports like Tennessee Tornado will show up on parts of this coaster. Then the "wood or steel" discussion will start again. Supports were never an issue on the wood versus steel debate. The debate was around whether or not the design of the topper track was still a wooden coaster or not, but we have since concluded it's still a wooden coaster with topper track. And remember, what is making this coaster so gnarly is the layout, setting, intensity, and airtime. If there was something bigger than those characteristics, we would have heard it in the official announcement.
RAWKIN_coaster38
This just looks so amazing. I bet a lot of pants will be shat once this beast opens. I like having lots of notice for this, I might just have to start setting up an account with TPR now to make sure I can go ride this thing. I love the name and theme too, Wildfire holds a special place in my heart because that's what I named my starter on the first Pokemon game I played. coasterkyle
I wonder if they will use a Goliath type of lift hill support? Less foundation work on the hill not to mention how even more bad ass that would look.
_koppen
Wheels: Similar to Outlaw Run No, steel wheels are out of the question. There is lot of animals not to far away, and steel wheels simply make to much noise for them.
Dr. M
I don't think there's much point in analyzing the layout at least until we have a better POV, but I do have one thought... If I were to picture my perfect roller coaster, and it seems like RMC really is trying to build "perfect roller coasters", there's one thing this ride is missing, as awesome as it looks. And that's El Toro's suicide hills, two big ones, back to back. They're special not just because of the speed you maintain going over the top, but their sheer size means that in the back you get that face-ripping airtime practically all the way down to the bottom. This ride looks like it keeps with RMC's tendencies to have lots of little pops of extreme airtime, but I'm missing the one giant hill, one singular moment of extended ejector airtime. It's something I'd really like to see RMC attempt at some point. Bunny hops are fun and all, but you need that height to get airtime that lasts. This is having not ridden Outlaw Run though, maybe if I did I'd forget all about this minor quibble. Does anyone know why with both this and Outlaw Run they have that little hill right before the first drop? Seems like it would be more intense without it, if you hit the first drop at a faster speed. EDIT: One thing I do love is it looks like you hit that last inversion with a ton of speed, which is kind of new for RMC. Ok yes I'm totally analyzing the layout now, sorry. Kenny B
I wonder if they will use a Goliath type of lift hill support? Less foundation work on the hill not to mention how even more bad A$$ that would look. That was my question. Wheres the press release that Wildfire actually looks like "THIS"!!!!! HAHAHA coaster nerds! Fooled you! - Love, RMC
PKI Jizzman
Congratulations Kolmarden, you did it. This is the best wooden coaster ever, and will probably beat most of the other steel coasters out there. Take note, other parks; this is going to set the bar at a whole new level. Right there is (are?) the reason (reasons?) why I like El Toro so much. Those hills are absolutely glorious, and I would trade crazy acrobatics and inversions for those wonderful huge hills any day of the year.
JJLehto
The only possible knock on the RMC's could be the length, and that's no issue here. You're right PKI. It could end up being the best wooden coaster on Earth. Unless of course something even crazier comes along in between now and then
robbalvey
The only possible knock on the RMC's could be the length, and that's no issue here. You have to remember, though, the length is not decided by RMC, that's determined by the budget the park has for a ride. Every foot of track = more $$$ RMC was just fortunate in this case that Kolmarden's goal was to get noticed and had the money and balls to move forward with this. As far as length goes, though, there are only 19 other coasters in the world longer than Wildfire, which puts this in VERY good company. Many of them are only longer by a couple hundred feet. El Toro is only 134 longer than this ride which translates into not much more time. In this case I'm VERY happy with the track length of Wildfire! GrapesLie
^ ESPECIALLY if this ride keeps up the same type of intensity through the whole ride like Outlaw run does! I can only imagine how intense and amazing this will be!
ernierocker
I just watched the POV again...that last drop that goes through the structure of the first drop looks like it could be one of the most insane moments of airtime ever created on a coaster! Isaac Newton
Well the Cliff itself looks pretty small. Would like a Coaster that REALLY follow the Terrain - like down the Rockys... How about pretty small?

gerstlaueringvar
That's going to be a lot of work to pour the footers. Just another reason to make some extraordinary supports.
TBpony414
Great looking coaster! I hope to be able to ride it one day. I could ride El Toro all day long so if this is similar then I know it'll be a hit! What are suicide hills?
Dr. M
What are suicide hills? That's my name for giant hills with extremely steep drops that feel like they're going to kill you.
TyRush
What are suicide hills? That's my name for giant hills with extremely steep drops that feel like they're going to kill you. So so so true. When ever I see a steep cliff and you either look down it or up at it you think..."Man someone could die here" Onto the coaster, holy smokes. RMC is awesome. chickenbowl
I'm incredibly impressed by RMC and this coaster. I'm reminded of a longer version of Outlaw Run, with potential for wooden perfection! It seems to me that Scandi and Sweden specifically will have one of the highest densities of World-Class coasters per area in the world. Within a few hours of each other, we will have Balder, Helix, Wildfire, Piraten, Speed Monster, Twister, and Insane! I will surely need to visit in 2016! GayCoasterGuy
What is especially cool about Wildfire is that it is NOT steeper, taller or faster than Goliath. It wouldn't matter either way, as there is no close "competition," but I just think that's cool. They are going for a nice and long quality ride. We all know that height, speed and angle of descent don't make a ride...

gerstlaueringvar
Look forward to see how the train designs will look like! The existing and the 2014 RMC trains are like NTaG's trains without the side fiber glasses, therefore, Wildfire's seats may look like iRat or Lightning Run's which give more freedom.
