Shavethewhales
wow, that's the funniest looking screamin swing I've ever seen, looks cool though. That drop tower sounds/looks insane though, I dunno if I would ride it. Yeah, they do need to build a big new Powderkeg style ride to showcase, that particular ride has so much potential and should be so sellable nowadays when so many parks are buying lauched coasters. larrygator
If all the rides are made by S&S, I see no reason why the park could not exist as long as S&S exists even with low attendance. Overhead is low for rides that you are already designing and building.
pdon
Nice to see the park get up and running. From the article, it looks like a lot of fun. I just wish S&S would build a medium or large roller coaster to help entice the Salt Lake crowd to venture up to Logan. It would be very cool to have S&S try out some new ride concepts at the park. I hope to try out the screamin swing this weekend. I'll post a trip report next week. Finally some local competition for the thrill seekers. coasterguy618
I see that place lasting as long as Vanilla Ice did. Agreed. Although Sonic Boom looks awesome, they need some major coasters, great themeing, and an all around great atmosphere to survive.

I disagree - If they market it as a traditional park then yes...it will have survival issues. If it is looked at as a testing ground that you can visit and pay to experience or even a FEC with a few up-charge attractions it will do well. As others have said - they have to test their prototype attractions anyway... you might as well use them while you have them!
Jive
How about a 4D and a wild woodie like Avalanche?
Hercules
They certainly aren't going to market it as a traditional park, and I completely disagree with saying that they need major coasters (even if the person that said it agreed with my statement). Not every park needs coasters. There are entertainment and amusement places that don't have rides, and there are places that have rides that don't have major coasters. They seem to do pretty well. However, I just don't see this place being too appealing, and I think it is kind of shabbily done kind of like S&S as a company. That is just my opinion though. I know but what attracts most people to parks today? Coasters. When genral public hears of this, they'll say, meh, there arent any coasters at this park. Roller Coasters are what attract people to parks!!
stormrider
I think they are planning this to be a fun center and not a huge park. Honestly I think it will succeed because there aren't that many competitors in Utah. Nobody seems to like building parks in the western desert that are good, so they don't have to worry about competing that hard.

I just don't think this place has enough to get people to keep coming back, and that is not because they don't have coasters. They will do fine in the beginning just because they don't have the competition and people might be interested to see what they have to offer, but I think after a little while people will go back to the batting cages, arcades and movies for their kicks and not this place. Well at least Utah has one real theme park; Lagoon, as apose to Nebraska which doesnt even have a credit.
okinawaboy11
That'd be cool if they built some sort of 4-D coaster at the park. Doubt it tho.
Guy T. Koepp
I thought this place was supposed to be the testing grounds for all of Stan tha Man's wacky air powered rides. Where's tha Screaming Squirel? Where's the Sky Swatter? Stan has something up his sleeves. Guy "I am so hitting up the "sonic boom" when we pass through Utah on our way up to Yellowstone next year." stricklandCC
no offense to all the repliers, however,i believe we all are probably on this site because we are not Theme Park Busines Gurus. To speculate on wether one man's dream will succeed, and why or why not I think is a bit rediculous. Lets thank the dude for possibly providing some of us with such an expirience and wish him the best. If you want a "powder keg type ride" or a "wild woodie like avalance" or, even the third in the world of 4-D coasters go to the bank get the same business lone that this guy did, and build them. It's called discussion. That's what this forum is for. If the discussion veers off into an area that's not appropriate to the thread, one of us moderators will let you know. The thread is fine, people can discuss what they'd like to see. K, thanks, bye.
FLIPDUDE
What's the sonic boom thing anyway? Anyhow, it may not be as good as many of the parks out there, but It's defnately not anything I would mind have take space in MY neighbourhood! jamesdillaman
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to wear hearing protection just to ride sonic boom?
