upside down
My favorite scary movie is Dead silence, now puppets creep the hell out of me.
Dorneypark_fan
I would now have to say The Mist.
Maximo37
Dawn of the Dead (Remake)... I freak out everytime a zombie dashes at top speed... awesome... Technically not a horror movie, but a psychological thriller, 12 Monkeys gives me the creeps... The original Nightmare on Elm Street is just a classic to me... Manny In England
28 Days Later Silense Of The Lambs Alien Aliens Dawn Of The Dead (original) I'd like to count Shaun of the Dead but it's really not a horror film. EDIT: The Thing too
alpengeist04
If we are counting Jaws and Aliens, then it would be as follows for me. 1.Jaws (1975) 2.Aliens (1986) 3.Exorcist (1973) 4.Poltergeist (1982) 5.Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Satchboogie3
In no particular order: Halloween (1978) The Thing (1982) Alien (1979) Poltergeist (1982) Suspiria (1977) Black Christmas (1974) REC (2007) Event Horizon (1997) The Shining (1980) Ringu (1998) Ju-on (2002) Audition (1999) Kairo (Pulse) (2001) Gin Gwai (The Eye) (2002) Invasion of The Body Snatchers (1978) Honerable Mentions: Videodrome (1983) 28 Days Later (2002) Candyman (1992) I'm sure I've left others out. Probably most notably, I left out Exorcist. Although I think it's a well crafted film, I don't find it scary (or really enjoyable) at all. I would actually rank Exorcist 2 or 3 higher. Also, I don't understand how people consider Jaws a scary movie.
laracroft
I can't deal with the Saw series, and Scream terrified me when I first watched it as a 13 year old. In no particular order: - Cube - Silence of the Lambs (not really scary, but the last scene is great) - The Shining - Dog Soldiers deserves a mention for being ridiculous - Event Horizon - more sci fi, but the uncut version is pretty disturbing - Don't Look Now - the final scene is pretty much the strangest, most disturbing thing I have seen on film - The Omen - particularly scary as I released I share my birthday with Damien down to the hour... Wallfan
The Exorcist. The movie still scares me, but I still watch it.
MayTheGForceBeWithYou
The Host. While it's *technically* a drama, it's still pretty damn good.
imawesome1124
The only scary movie I've seen is not meant to be scary. Zombieland, which rocks. One or two startling moments in the movie, but it is categorized as horror in movie catalogs.
gisco
When I was in high school the go to scary movie was Alien. Great movie to take a date too. For full experience you needed to see it in a theater.
Philrad71
1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The original - not the crappy remakes). 2. The Shining 3. The Blair Witch Project 4. The Thing 5. Alien 6. The Serpent & The Rainbow (the buried alive part just freaks me out) 7. The Omen Trilogy (the first one is still the best though) 8. The Exorcist 9. Jaws 10. The Mist
willthegolfer
Watched the original Scream a while back. Very good, combines a who dun it type thriller with slasher while satirizing some of the horror movie genre. Manages to be very scary without just using a bunch of jump scares. dippindotsguy8
In no particular order: 1. Alien 2. The Thing 3. Insidious (the first film.... they lost me at the second and hopefully will win me over with the third) 4. The Conjuring 5. Blair Witch Project 6. Exorcist III 7. Poltergeist 8. Silence of the Lambs 9. Jaws 10. Just the basement scene from Annabelle. The rest was kinda crappy, but that scene was really good 11. Psycho (not with Vince Vaughan!) 12. Nightmare on Elm Street 1 13. Ok, yeah, the Scream franchise.

mike541x
The Halloween (except for the terrible Rob Zombie remakes) and Friday the 13th trilogies have always been my favorites.
