The Knott's Berry Farm (KBF) Discussion Thread

P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else find it ironic that the park that usually stays open when there is rain falling (SFMM) is closed while the park that normally closes when two drops of rain hit the pavement (KBF) is open? The apocalypse really is at hand, Knott's is open in the rain!

---Brent

Elissa mentioned this earlier, it is really interesting that SFMM is going down and KBF is starting to be good. Haha

^I think the reason may be because the pressure put on Cedar Fair by Q-funding is bringing about change, whereas Six Flags has just had a change in management itself and is still making adjustments. I really would like to see where both corporate level shakeups will affect our local parks. We may not see much of anything this soon, but in a year or two, I look forward to how Knott's will look. Not so much for Magic Mountain...

So, it's been five days of increasingly hard rain, and Knott's has yet to just plain close the park. We've closed early every day, today being the earliest at 2. So anyone hoping to come over the next few days, get there early, and don't expect to do much. We haven't closed in the rain, and I don't see us closing at all this week. But honestly, it's rediculous. We're getting low numbers in the park, and almost all the coasters are down due to rain anyways. Personally, I get why you guys complaint about us closing for rain, but at this point, Cedar Fair is paying employees to stand around and get drenched.

As mentioned earlier, it probably has to do with the X-mas crafts fair. Vendors are paying the park to come in and have booths...probably costs the park more to have to breach their agreements with them than it does to keep the park open and shut down most the rides/cancel most the shows!

I visited the park today and took advantage of the sunlight while it lasts. Really light crowds made it a nice day at the park.

The "Up's"

- riding Xcelerator's new train

- riding Montezooma three times in a row

- visiting Elf Mountain brought back memories

- got to see the Catawumpus in person for the first time

The "Down's"

- Christmas Parade had 95% population of five-year-olds yawning

- Pony Express still has only one train

Also got to see the ice skating show which was "meh", but the whole holiday atmosphere made the visit a bit more enjoyable.

Ride Counts:

Elf Mountain - 1

Pony Express - 1

Silver Bullet - 1

Jaguar! - 2

Montezooma - 3

Xcelerator - 1

Hat Dance - 1

Dragon Swing - 1

Yea, i'll post pics tomorrow. It wasn't packed, but wasn't little crowds. ^ On the Log Ride, did you see the elf before the surprise drop? It looked like the grudge! And when you first enter the mountain, look behind the wall and theres a headless one... Good trip though. The bad thing was that excelerator would "Break Down" every 5 rides! It was probably because they were testing the red train out, which i was so lucky to get a ride on! TR tomorrow!
