David H
Hell, it can be hard to remember details about a coaster you just rode, if it was in the middle of a crazy trip, with lots of other coasters. For my recent big Asia/TPR China trip, I can only remember a lot of the details when I look through my pictures and read other people's trip reports. Double0Kevin
I'm also really looking forward to the results of this one. There have been so many big steel coasters to debut since the last one. Will be interesting to see how they fit in there.
JJLehto
Thanks Robb Same, curious about Skyrush, Leviathan and Shambhala (Which I guess didn't even register on GTA : / )
Swimace
I am surprised at how many people ranked Disneyland Paris' Space Mountain as the worst steel coaster in the world. Was it really running that bad when TPR went? I mean even worse than Goudurix? I really liked the DLP version of Space Mountain! I thought it was a really fun ride! cfc
^Two answers. 1. Yes, it really was that bad. I actually rode the damn thing twice, and it was even worse in the front seat than it was in the back. 2. Part of the reasoning behind my ranking it dead last is that Disney has no business running a coaster that is that bad. Nicely themed, though. larrygator
^It tried to kill me in 2008, then again so did Goudurix.
Swimace
That is interesting. I rode it in October 2011 and it wasn't rough at all! I seriously rode it like 5-6 times the day I was there. Maybe I caught it fresh of a rehab or something...
cfc
I last rode it in 2008. I can only base my ranking on my personal experience with the ride. But if Disney has it running well now, that's great.
SharkTums
^There were mixed reviews from this summer with the people that went after the TPR Europe Trip. Latest I heard was that it is going to be getting those new Vekoma restraints which should help out a LOT.
cfc
^I'd love to see them make this into a decent ride, as I think the theming is great (it's Disney's best-looking Space Mountain).
A.J.
French Vekomas are the worst, it seems? Here's some historical context, maybe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco-Dutch_War
MINICoupe
Seems that Robb and I both agree on our Top coaster (EGF) and our bottom coaster (Goudurix) I can't imagine any coaster worse than Goudurix being allowed to carry riders. I rode Space Mtn last summer and while it was still a Vekoma, it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered from my ride on it about a decade earlier. I actually rode it twice. If it gets the new restraints, it could be a pretty good ride. Elissa... traveling Hi-Miler in your bottom section? I freaking LOVE that ride. I guess folks like different stuff. Top 5: 1. Expedition GeForce, Germany 2. Bizarro, SFNE 3. Texas Giant, SFOT 4. Anaconda, Gold Reef City 5. The Ultimate, Lightwater Valley (yes, I know... I must've hit it on an ultra-rare good day. Everyone else I know HATES this ride) Bottom 3: 3. Roller Coaster, NYNY Casino 2. Viper, SFMM 1. Goudurix, DLP The one thing I hate about the steel poll is how it groups together all the coasters of a particular type. Yes, I realize that a lot of them are too similar to distinguish, but we could group those together ourselves in the ranking. My biggest issue is the Vekoma Boomerang.... I despise most of them, but the one at Prater with the trains that have no shoulder bars is awesome! The poll asks me to put it where my "favorite boomerang" would go, but the end result makes it look like a really dig boomerangs and I really DON'T... except for that single one. Oh, well. Maybe I caught it fresh of a rehab or something... It's actually VERY possible. I've been on that ride quite a bit, and at one point used to be in my top ten (in 1995), but it's so hit and miss. When that ride is running bad, it's really F**KING bad! It really, really beat the crap out of me this past year! Not quite as bad as Gouderix...but bad! --Robb
Gilly
^ It was running quite good in February 2009. I mean, it wasn't really something special, but it also isn''t among the worst I've ridden

A.J.
I've never ridden Shambariumnitrate, but is it really that good? Also, Griffon got ranked higher than Alpengeist?
beatle11
Shambhala making the top 10 in it's first year is interesting. Not really any huge surprises but I'm somewhat surprised to see Leviathan above Behemoth though. I personally like Leviathan a little bit better but I've heard the opposite from more people. Also, Griffon got ranked higher than Alpengeist? I personally agree with that. Alpengeist didn't really do much for me. Meteornotes
I refuse to believe Shambhala is remotely as good as the rest of the Top Ten. It's a B&M hyper, and B&M misplaced their "make forceful" button in their design software many years ago. Was also interested to see Skyrush ending up in the Top Ten, despite endless complaints that it was destroying the legs of everyone that walked past the ride or whatever. Guess perhaps that might have been exaggerated... dt
TheAmazingCP
Shambhala is number 6? Can't say I saw that coming. Glad to see Skyrush in at 7.
Sir Clinksalot
I've never even heard of Shambhala until 90 seconds ago so it obviously can't be that good. Just glad I've actually ridden 2 of the coasters in the top 10 for once.
Mrlittle
That was really fast on the results. I love seeing NTAG in the number 3 spot. Also Skyrush got in at number 7 which is awesome. ALSO INTAMIN ROCKS
chickenbowl
From Mitch's website: Although #6 'Shambhala' had 47 riders take the poll, the majority of those riders had limited track records which caused it to have valid mutual rider comparisons with only 243 other coasters. By contrast, 'Kawasemi' had only 16 riders take the poll but they were more experienced, giving 'Kawasemi' valid mutual rider comparisons with 348 other coasters. 'Shambhala' and 'Kawasemi' had no mutual riders take the poll. It will be interesting to see where 'Shambhala' ranks after it has been ridden by more experienced riders in years to come. I think it's a fluke from inexperienced riders to have Shambhala up there. I also find it very awesome to have I305 and Skyrush up there, both great coasters! It also shows another year dominated by Intamin, but it looks as if RMC is a true contender, very excited to see where Iron Rattler will fit!
