Steve, do you care to share your thinking here?

 

I know a lot of people love Millennium Force, and I agree that it is a fun ride... but I don't get how people keep ranking it #1.

 

Is it a "I love Cedar Point" thing, or is there something about that ride that you really like THAT much?

For me, Millennium Force is the quintessential "throw your hands up in the air and just have fun the whole way around" coaster. You don't need to worry about it being rough, too intense, or too scary. It's just all-out "fun" from beginning to end. It's also probably the "biggest, scariest looking" coaster that is totally accessible to pretty much ANYONE. It's only got a 48" height restriction so kids around 7 years old can ride it, and it's not too taxing on your body that someone older couldn't enjoy it too.

 

For the GP, it's the perfect "BIG coaster."

 

That being said, it probably still only ranks towards the lower-part of my top 20...and I'm a die-hard Intamin fanboy.

I'm actually going to have a hard time ranking Millennium Force after finally riding it last year. It didn't absolutely blow me away like Superman/Bizarro did, but I could easily ride that ride all day long. Just plain out fun.

My top five

 

1. Piraten, because it's the best one out there, IMO.

2. Expedition GeForce, because it's the most fun ride in the world.

3. Insane, because it's the most awesome ride in the world.

4. Stealth, simply because the launch is out of this world.

5. Black Mamba, because it has the best atmosphere of any ride I've been on, and it is really fun.

If this thread is a good indicator, Skyrush is perched for a top five finish in its debut season. Looks like everyone who has ridden it so far have it top five or at least top ten.

 

I also noticed Bizarro isn't ranking as highly on many of our ballots (mine included). It will be interesting if this is the first year in a while it doesn't finish 1 or 2.

I believe that if Maverick had I305's restraints, it would rank higher. And I also have to agree about Millie. She is smooth and has a great first drop, but that's about it. I have yet to ride Biazzro, GeForce, or a Mega lite, but from my understanding, they look wonderful.

See... I know that these boards tend to reflect that sort of voting, but there are a lot of enthusiasts that don't like Skyrush and may throw it down low on their ballot. I will be interested to see how some of the ACErs vote. We usually end up seeing some rides rank really highly that most of the TPR crowd doesn't exactly "love": i.e. Diamondback.

 

 

Another interesting thing to note is how X2 is ranking relatively well on the ballots that are posted so far. We don't hear a lot about that ride, and it's notoriously rough, but it still gets love on the polls.

For Skyrush It will definitly crack the Top 10, im just interested to see where in the top 10. As far as people liking it, I know lots of people love an Awesome Intamin Death Trap, and im sure theres a good amount that love to be on a cloud with B&M. We can sit here all day and predict, but we just have to wait for the final results!

 

 

^if Skyrush had I-305 restraints, then the lateral g's on the Stengel Dive and far turnaround would probably wack your neck against the sides. So i think a lapbar is far better than OTSR.

I think this wouldn't quite be the case simply because the restraints on Skyrush provide so much freedom of movement that you fell like you'll actually fly out but on I305 I felt even on the strongest airtime moments that I was still safe and comfortable due to how cumbersome and restrictive the restraints are, this would sort of kill what I consider to be one of the best parts of Skyrush.
