Looks like it will be a pretty big lazy river entrance

Looks like they are going for some heavy theme on it.

Waterslide tower that isn't steel colored!

^Looks like it's unpainted bare steel to me. Most of those grey support structures are galvanized grey paint to protect the steel from the elements and corrosion. But, I may be wrong in this case, and I welcome the idea of painting the structures with a color other than metallic grey.

I'm curious, and maybe Shane can answer this, with the fairly harsh sun in Vegas, how often will the slides need to be repainted? I assume they would fade at a much higher pace than other parts of the world. Anyone else work at a water park in a dry, sunny region like Vegas and know?

Looks like the water park is coming along nicely. How many months per year does Cowabunga Bay plan to be open?

On the note of water parks being open late, a couple of years ago I went to the Island Water Park in Fresno which was open until 9PM on that Saturday that I visited. We had family business to do in that area until 3PM, and the Island Water Park had an after 3PM ticket that was very reasonably priced, so it worked out perfect for us as 5.5 hours was plenty of time for us there. It was still reasonably warm when we left there at 9PM, and since the water park was by the 99 Fwy noise was not issue. I feel having a water park open to 7PM or later on a hot summer day (especially on a weekend) is reasonable, and until 6PM on a slower weekday or early/late season when the temps are milder is reasonable. After the first year or two, Cowabunga Bay may want to consider being open later (like 9PM) on longer summer days with a afternoon ticket option (after 2-4PM), if it's feasible for the business. I understand them not doing this the first year as there are so many other things/ factors to focus on.

We got these great overhead shots of the park. You can really see things starting to come together. We started hiring our opening crew this week and have had some great applicants. I am getting really excited for opening day!

Wow!!! Awesome update! Thanks for all the pics.

So one question I do have is on the Lazy river. Is that some type of lagoon or wading pool on the inside (bottom right) of the Lazy River??

*edit* Just kidding...I found the renderings. Very nice!

What an awesome set of photos! Can't wait to see similar photos when the place is done!

I noticed that the wave pool is slightly different on both sides, one edge is sharp, while the other is not, is there a reason for that that will make the waves better?

Ha Ha, so funny that you would notice this. It bugs me every time I look at the wave pool. This was a simple mistake made on the plans. it was supposed to be corrected but somehow got built the wrong way. Please don’t bring it up again and let’s pretend it’s there to make the waves bigger and better.

Noted! Won't bring it up again.

Is it an actual Polin wave machine, or is it a wave specific company who makes it, like Murphy's or American Wave Machines?

Are Dippin Dots still the ice cream of the future after 20 years?

Yes, if you buy tomorrows Dippin' Dots today. Then they retain the ice cream of the future monikker. However, if you buy tomorrows Dippin' Dots tomorrow, then they instantly become the ice cream of the present. Furthermore, if you buy tomorrows Dippin' Dots 2 days from now, they become the ice cream of the past. Todays Dippin Dots are yesterdays past, and tomorrows future, while still remaining the ice cream of the present. But tomorrows Dippin' Dots will be todays past and the following days future. And two days from now when purchased today becomes future ice cream regardless of tomorrows outcome while making this days Dippin' Dots a puddle of colored milk cream substance.

So... ...in answer to your question. Yes. And no.
