Angry_Gumball Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 All of my electronic gadgets have some sort of coaster wallpaper, never anything else different...even my Facebook profile pic for the most part has something to do with coasters. You might be a nerd when: -You look at, admire, hold, etc... your Vekoma wheel every day, still in shock that you actually have a piece of a coaster sitting right in your room. -Earlier when riding my bike home, there's these subtle dips in the sidewalk due to 2 driveways next to each other. I've attempted hitting them at just enough speed seeking a pop of floater air -When half your wardrobe consists of amusement park-related shirts (mainly being my home park) -When you see a coaster in movies being cartoon or real life and you see ride controls, actions being done, ride malfunctions, etc..you sit back and say "That's all wrong, the control board looks very 'GP', That would never happen, how did this happen, etc.' -Lastly...people grin at B&M beans due to BM...bowel movement...we grin at B&M Beans because it's B&M, coaster manufacturer (well, I do anyway)...I am also guilty of this when I see "Schwarzkopf" on my hair gel, when I hear the word 'Aerodynamics' (Arrow Dynamics), or when I hear the word "Tacoma" I think I hear "Vekoma."

When you come across a photo of a Rollercoaster in a textbook you automatically know what coaster it is and where it is (was) located. Happened to me 3 times, though for some reason they were all 70s KBF coasters.

You might be a coaster nerd if... –Your "dream job" has ever involved coasters and/or amusement parks. –You call yourself a coaster nerd and it's not a bad thing. –Someone can describe a coaster extremely vaguely (like color and general location) and you know exactly which one they're talking about. -You've ever gotten into an argument with someone about coasters and you ended up being correct. -You've gotten upset because an amusement park commercial showed footage for a coaster not at the park advertised.

Ooh funny storry about these. I was at my girlfriends place the other day and her mom got a pic from a friend of her and her son on a coaster (it was a pic of the monitor for the on-ride camera). All you could see was the seat backs, the restraints. The idea was to show the sons hilarious expression but I knew instantly that it was Goliath at SFMM and pointed it out. My girlfriends mom looked at me with this confused/concerned look and asked "how do you know that?", almost as if it was like I was stalking her friend. My response was simple, pointed both thumbs to my chest and said "nerd".

Ohhhh yes. A friend of mine was talking about Dollywood and how one of the rides looked like it had a butterfly-wing shape to it and I immediately said "Tennessee Tornado". lol They think it's amazing that I know rides in various US parks, but they don't even know about my knowledge of ones outside the US lol. Vicious cycle, it is.

RAWKIN_coaster38 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 You might be a coaster nerd if... --You have more amusement park/roller coaster t-shirts than you can wear in a week (or even a month) but you could never bring yourself to get rid of them, and you constantly buy more. --When you first meet someone and talk about coaster enthusiasm they think it's really interesting, but after getting to know you a little more, they a) obviously aren't paying attention when you go off about coasters or b) cut you off when you start talking about them because they know it's going to be a while. --Your closest friends and family actually know coaster facts from hearing you talk about them so much, but it still really bugs you when they get anything wrong. (They should know better by now! )
forces Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 ^ SO TRUE about the t-shirts!!! You also might be a coaster nerd if you spend upwards of 700+ dollars on event/airfare/hotel/rental car JUST to hang out with other coaster nerds for one day.....

Back in elementary school I used to ride a bike in the same "layout" everyday for a long time....and I'd make up a speil or recite a Disney speil the whole time while doing it. I used to also make "rides" with pushing my siblings in a wagon and do the same. Man, I wish being younger that was fun!

Oh that reminds me, my brother had a huge lot at his old house and I mowed the lawn for a few bucks. After I finished my chore I'd do a Universal Backlot type tour around the yard stopping at certain places for the "events" and driving over logs for the hazards etc. Oh what a nerd I was/am

My coworker calls me over to his computer after downloading it, telling me to check it out. It was a panoramic photo of Grona Lund's Skyline. I immediately picked out Insane and 'geeked out' telling him all about the coaster. I just forgot the park's name at the moment and he told me that it was some park in Sweden. And I'm guilty of staring at coasters to see if it cycles while heading into the parking lot.

If you don't know, you have already figured out within 5 minutes of waiting. OR: You drove through some awesome place, and never visited because there was a park nearby. For example, I have been to Washington DC once, and that was when I drove through it to get from SFGAdv to KD!
