DUINRELL, WASSENAAR, THE NETHERLANDS

On March 15th, Duinrell submitted plans to the local authority build a new family coaster.

In a press release issued earlier today, the park confirmed that the plans been been approved and construction will begin on June 8th.

The rollercoaster, manufactured by Gerstlauer, will be 49ft high, have a track length of 1,184ft and is due to open next year. The coaster will be build between the Falcon and Kikker-8-Bann coasters. The ride is currently unnamed.

From the layout, it looks like it will be a spinning coaster. While it looks a little on the short side, the ride still looks like a lot of fun, and hits nice to see the approval for this coaster went a lot easier than Falcon. That turnaround after the first drop looks like it could be insane if taken at the right speed.

If you look at the second picture, it appears to show the train in the station. Appears to be a standard train, not spinning. Layout looks a nit longer than what you typically see from a "family coaster"' looks like it could be fun.

Yeah, this didn't scream spinner to me. Looks more like a slightly larger version of the standard Gerstlauer Family coaster like CoasterSaurus at Legoland or that new one at Hansa Park.

Really liked this park on our visit last year, glad to see them doing well and expanding!

Duinrell is in a great, actual forested park/campgrounds setting,

so that any new coaster built there will 'look' great.

Wow, this should really help Duinrell stand out as far as their coaster collection goes: that first drop looks insane for a family coaster! It's a shame it isn't that much longer, though. The layout indicates it should be a pretty fun ride, however!

I hope some of those trees are going to stay, i would to see this coaster soar through the woods.

they started testing:

I hope/think they will paint the trains too. Maybe like everything in duinrell in a wooden style

Looking at the layout it looks like this would make a decent little spinner, with all the turns it could have turned out quite nice, if rather dire capacity wise. Still looks like an enjoyable little coaster, with a pop of potential air in the back row on the first drop.

it's great how Duinrell just works around the trees that are already there

Agreed completely.

Parks need to remember that trees and such are very valuable property additions- and leaving them up adds to a ride's ambiance as well as to the 'thrill' factor to said ride.

And this does look like a nifty junior coaster- Gerstlauer has finally found a ride to break the Vekoma/Zierer 'cookie cutter' approach to these rides. I can only hope that this style catches on- as it would make for a wonderful- if not thrilling- addition to many smaller parks needing something with a bit of 'oomph' to their ride lineups.
