Geauga Lake Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I also just want to put it out there that Kat's site has still not been updated since October 20th. There has also been no communication from them to any of the people who made donations.

I find it even more insulting that she would call Prince Desmond a "scam" when so far the only person that would appear to be a scam, is her.

Seriously, if someone were to donate $50 to TPR, I would immediately email them and say thank you!

Robb, if what you said above doesn't just about prove that she is either scamming people or REALLY doesn't have a clue what the heck she is doing, I don't know what is. Seems like she took the little money she raised and ran.

Just for kicks, I did an internet search last night on this gem of a project using multiple filters and whatnot. In the last month, not a single article has been written or updated on this project. Heck, I got more hits on Prince Desmond than I did the "official" project. I wonder what those trains look like all covered in snow...

Publicity stunt is more or less what it's starting to feel like. A guy from the other part of the world merges with someone who's never ridden the ride much less been to the park, gets in the news papers, forums, chat rooms, and tv, puts up a half ass website with a picture of her holding a ring (which by the way qualifies her to buy and run a coaster) and then both basically disappear. What a joke.

I agree with Wes. Continuing to discuss this in circles is sort of pointless. We know there hasn't been any update since mid to late October. We know that none of the people who donated money have been contacted in any way. And the only thing really to talk about is the lack of updates, which seems a bit pointless until there is an update.

I have to agree with what has been pointed out a few times now. There really hasn't been a need for the past 17 pages of talk about nothing.

Edit: In retrospect, there was really no need for me to once again point out the obvious while adding nothing to the conversation that was going nowhere. Sorry for wasting bandwidth! It's probably better to keep my irrelevant thoughts in my head where they belong.

^Considering there has been 239 pages of discussion about Geauga Lake on a "Geauga Lake Discussion Thread," I think it is fine.

If you're not in the mood for a certain taste, choose a different flavor. If you're not tempted by the cuisine, go to a different restaurant.

In other words, if you don't find value in what has been posted, don't respond.

Just to clarify the context of what I wrote and so that nothing gets out of hand, it just *feels*that way, not saying that was really ever their intent, just what on the surface it feels like, two plus months later. I mean there is an off chance that something is happening we don't know about....possibly, a really off chance...so, with that being wrote, I shall sit back and wait for future developments. I would however have thought at the least they would get the valuables out of the elements or at the very least if they couldn't afford to move the trains, shrink wrap them.

First one to snap pictures of construction crews wins the prize, tho I don't really have anything to hand out other than maybe a morale prize or left over pizza.

I just got this as part of Amusement Todays daily emails of amusement park happenings.

Ohio developers plan April 2011 flea market at old amusement park lot

A group of investors is planning to open the Geauga Lake Flea Market in Bainbridge, Ohio, in the parking lot of a former amusement park, according to a report in the Aurora Advocate. The developers have given a proposal to the local zoning commission, and they are hoping that the body will allow the use of the space for a new market. If the zoning change required goes through, the organizers will need to submit a use/commercial permit. According to the news report:

The market would likely be a bi-weekly event from April to October featuring 200 to 400 goods vendors and 10 to 15 food and drink vendors, according to a written document outlining the proposal. The market could attract 1,000 people to each session. If the group, which has organized under Geauga Lake Flea Market LLP, gets the appropriate permit from the township, the market could open in April 2011.

Kat just posted this:

I apologize for the lack of updates to this site and other forums I have been active on. There have been many events that have called for my attention and I was hesitant to post anything until I knew for certain what was going on.

The owner and the owner’s agent have expressed their desire to cancel the deal we had come to agreement on concerning the sale of the Big Dipper. Harold and I are working together on this project. Our interest at this point is in saving the Big Dipper from the previously announced demolition by the parties that purchased the coaster from the Cedar Fair auction. We are currently under experienced legal guidance so that we may do everything within our power to save an important piece of amusement history.

I sincerely hope for everyone’s understanding as we work through the new challenges we are faced with. Harold and I are completely dedicated to this project and are determined to see this through to the end, which we see as the successful restoration of the Big Dipper to operational status.

Here is what I take out of this:

- The sale wasn't really finalized to begin with.

- WTF is with Kiwi being part of this, then not being part of this, then being part of this again???

- I really hope she's able to get some awesome "experienced legal guidance" with that $384!

The sale wasn't really finalized to begin with.

If Kat bought the coaster, then shouldn't she be the owner? Why is she referring to another party as the "owner"? From her own site:

After two weeks of negotiations, a sale was finalized on September 30, 2010 and Harold Garmonsway and Kat Jones were named the new owners of the coaster.

If that's what's really going on (aka she and Harold never owned the coaster), then they seriously misrepresented themselves when they started soliciting donations. That would be fraud.

Another possibility is that Kat really means the former owner when she says "owner". After all, Kat hasn't show herself to be the brightest star in the sky with her lack of ability to write a credible plan, lack of transparency even though she's happily taking other people's money, and habit of half-assing the few activities that she has performed for this project.

I guess we now know why she couldn't talk about certain aspects of the deal. There was no real "deal" in the first place. She should return the money she's collected, too.

Maybe the flea-market people need lumber from Big Dipper to build booths.
