Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

P. 512: Holiday World acquires Santa's Cottages resort

Recommended Posts

Alright, here's my analysis of this:

This sounds a lot like a Gerstlauer Infinity coaster like Smiler or Karacho, but on a much larger scale. First off, Hansa Park is supposedly building a Gerstlauer hyper coaster, so this could be Gerstlauer's first "huge" coaster on the scale that another manufacturer would normally take on along with Hansa's.

Reading the clues, it sounds like you are in a train themed to a ship (Day 21) which could be a reference to an Infinity themed to a ship or a Mack train. Anyways, you depart, go over PP's ride area over the water or in the channel, and do a small pre-lift section with small twisties (as mentioned before). There are large imposing ride elements beside you (Day 2, Day 5) One of the elements around the pre-lift is probably a barrel roll (Day 7)From there, you approach the lift, and stop for it to kick on as most Gerstlauers do (Day 9, reference to delayed departure), the 102-foot lift and 103-foot drop, probably a few large elements, and from there, it turns into a key to what is to come.

*"Cannot stand upright" (Day 22, Day 38) references invesions

*Each storm discussed represents a launch

*Each "it gets dark" comment represents a tunnel."

Pretty farfetched and we don't have all clues, but that's how I'm reading it.

A few days ago I posted about an Infinity based solely on the idea of it being the first coaster of that kind in the New World and you have now added to my hopes.

Both Smiler and Karacho have small hill heights yet pack a punch. Karacho also has lap only restraints and both Smiler and Karacho have height requirements that in or near Holiday World's other height requirements. And, for the price..I sure wouldn't pass up the opportunity to have the first of a kind of roller coaster in North America...

^Third troll post of the day!... Dor cryin out loud, bann this guy!!!

Anyway, back on topic, what coaster is that in the pic? That looks awesome !

Superdooperlooper at Hershey Park

Awesome! Never really noticed the trains on that one before.

Anyway, agree with what most people have said on this thread. Pretty sure it'll be some kind of launcher with inversions.

It's the only schwarzkopf I've ever been able to ride and I quite liked the trains, pretty comfortable.

I think this is the first picture that I feel like I might actually be seeing something that is meant to be there and not just in my head.

If you take the image and "Stretch" it vertically, I can see a somewhat clear "13" right smack dab in the middle which is a reference to Alton Towers' coaster obviously. I feel like this along with the analysis that some of you have been providing is pushing me more towards a Verbolten-esque ride (which would be awesome). If someone can confirm that they see the 13, too, that would be great because I am beginning to lose my mind with this campaign.

P.S. I feel like the image is easier to look at if you invert the colors.

Double P.S. Paula just said she likes numbers...oh man we are on to you haha.

I don't think those are the coaster's original trains. Weren't those orange trains made by Gerstlauer or another similar company?

Just because I like numbers (and gave birth to a JPL engineer - not that I'm proud or anything), I'll make note here that this is the 500th page of posts about Holiday World.

And this is the 5,000th post.

Huzzah!

Hooray! Maybe when this thread hits 10k, you'd be the one to take that cake as well!

hey everyone! I'm new to the website, but I've been reading all the replies in this thread about the HW 2015 announcement. I wouldn't consider myself a "coaster" enthusiast, but more of a "Holiday World" enthusiast, lol. But in general I LOVE theme parks and roller coasters. HW is my home park, as its only about a 25 min drive for me. I've been going there since I was a kid (pre Splashin Safari days even) and have grown up with the park(I'm now 33) Around here Holiday World gets talked about A LOT by the GP. before HW became famous nationwide, we always thought of it as one of our best kept secrets of southern Indiana. It's awesome to see how much the park has grown and yet at the same time hasn't changed the down home feeling you get and how well your treated when your at the park. The park is applauded around here for so so many reasons I can't even list. But I just wanted you all to know I follow the park like it was my job almost, lol. However, I"m not an engineer and like I said can't really say I'm a coaster enthusiast so If I mention something here that seems off or makes no sense at all, please please do let me know, and I apologize in advanced.

ANYWAY... I was thinking about all the clues on 66daysatsea and just how HW loves to surprise their guests at every chance they get. Now I KNOW we all want a new coaster.... and from what I can tell/read I do believe there is probably a coaster involved somewhere in this expansion. HOWEVER.... I like to throw this out there for you guys to think about... ..What if, HW has decided to replace Raging Rapids.. with a new white water rafting type of ride.. thats completely unique to HW. One that might actually have lift hills of some sort...and underground tunnels, and moments inside buildings for theming... It would be a MASSIVE ride that would blow any other white water rapids ride out of this world... and something only HW could and would do. Worlds longest rapids ride anyone? THe new rapids ride would go in the area everyone is discussing around the Voyage/Hyena Falls/Giraffica area... and this type of ride could indeed reuse parts of abandoned Giraffica ride. I then see them tearing out the old Raging Rapids and putting something super cool and new there in its place. If they were to build such a ride, then it would go PERFECTLY with the theme of all of the 66daysatsea posts. All those things could be implemented. I know its probably NOT what they are doing... but I could FOR SURE see them doing something like this. So my question to you guys is... would something like that be possible as part of this project? Is it possible from the engineering sence? Am I crazy for thinking that all the clues would fit perfectly with such a ride? Just something I came up with and wanted to throw it out at some of the experts. Do not be afraid to tear my little theory a new one. PLEASE DO! I want to hear what you guys think. Just please remember, I'm not at the same expert or even coaster enthusiast status of you guys, lol. Anyway, thanks for listening to my first post and its a pleasure to be here and meet you all!

^ Welcome to the forum! First off let me say that none of us are really experts, nor do we have any real idea of what is being built at HW. We're just making guesses on what we've read and have seen so far. So your guess is just as good as ours. Let me go ahead and correct you and say that the website is www.66daysatsea.com. Now to answer your question, I personally don't think this is a new rapids ride with a roller coaster. I'm guessing that it's a steel coaster with a water park attraction by Hyena Falls.

^Your guess truly is as good as ours. The only reason I would think it would not be a rapids ride is because of those "shredded documents" that were sent out that were found to be a small part of the "blueprint" of what appeared to be a steel coaster. This could all just be HW sending us on a wild goose chase, but that is one of the best pieces of the puzzle we have received so far. I also personally feel that their most recent additions are more than enough for the "water" side of the park. Mammoth and Wildebeest are absolutely awesome as I'm sure you know. I'm sorry to hear about your stroke, by the way ... I hope you are feeling better.

Very interesting theory. I will say I doubt that it is a rapids ride, but IF it was, and they did demolish the Raging Rapids ride, it would open up quite a bit of space in the 4th of July section. Then they could build a coaster there. If this happened, a major launch coaster would fit wonderful, themed to fireworks and things. Rockets Red Glare?
