Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

P. 512: Holiday World acquires Santa's Cottages resort

Recommended Posts

I look at it in a weird way i guess. To me it doesn't seem like many of the gp will be visiting 66daysatsea. Honestly it seems like this whole teaser program was geared toward the enthusiasts. Its gained them widespread attention so far on several sites, like the very popular site with many enthusiasts, Screamscape, Coaster Radio and many more. Honestly i dont see them leading the enthusiasts on a big journey for a family-oriented coaster. To me it seems like they are going to big before they go small with this project. But i could be wrong. Who knows. It could be a launch, a mega lite, a B&M, or a ride like Divertical. It could also be a massive roller coaster like B&M hyper and a bunch if family flats, to appease both groups of people. But im sure Holiday World has it figured out. But tbh there is know telling how much money they have to spend. From a fanboys point of view I could hope for a B&M giga like Leviathan(Intamin has been having issues recently). I mean the possibilities of what rides they look at are endless. We could be anything from RMC to Mack to B&M. And as for flats, there are so many they are lacking. Not that HW isnt great, as they are obviously my favorite park ever, but they could definitely use some more. For instance, if they were to build a 200+ coaster, a drop ride(Intamin reimbursement for PP) of 180+ feet would fit better. They have Liberty Launch but its not a drop its a shot. Maybe something like Falcons Fury could work. I would like to see speculation of not just roller coasters, but flat rides too. Who knows, Raven Maven may see a theming idea or type of ride and mention it as a possibility to Matt. I think the possibilities are endless though, and just because HW has been small doesnt mean they will stay under 200 ft. They are a growing park, and especially with KK reopened, they are going to have to ensure they have the best pull of rides, which they already have a grasp on. So all in all, im going big with some flats. Feel free to tell me what you agree with or disagree with. IM on almost 24/7.

Wait - some of you guys think the clue was literally "You'll be disappointed"?

I don't think this would be a good marketing strategy for sure!

Exactly! No park would set up a huge 66 day marketing campaign for a ride that people will be disappointed by, and they surely wouldn't come out and say "Don't get your hopes up too high, you'll be disappointed".

Based on today's clue, it may not be popular with coaster enthusiasts on what they're building:

"A growing number of passengers whisper concerns that we made a poor choice in joining this voyage. How do we help them find courage? - See more at: http://www.holidayworld.com/66days/#sthash.StEW6xFR.dpuf"

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's my whole interpretation. Just like the year they were building up to the Mammoth announcement which turns out to be a bigger version of Wildebeest.

I interpreted this differently. I interpreted it as the ride is massive or intimidating, so the riders are doubting their decision to ride.

I thought it was that people on-board were starting to regret joining the journey and think that it's all a lost cause, or that some people would be losing hope in the new attraction being promising (I still have hope/courage!). They did just go through the first storm on the trip. Also, hearing that footers are being put in is like music to my ears!

I'll be there on Wednesday, so I'll try and see how many footers are visible at this point. With footers already being poured, I'm gonna go ahead an assume that the first supports will be put in place on the July 24th announcement or the day after. They said at that point in construction, it would be very obvious what they're building.

This seems more likely to me, especially because all along we've been assuming "the children" are us enthusiasts, and it doesn't say the children are having doubts. Plus, remember when she talked about having trouble staying upright, she also said "The children laugh and clap their hands." We will not be disappointed by this announcement. I agree that this whole site is mainly for the sake of enthusiasts and there's no way they'd bother going to all this trouble if it wasn't something big.

^^ This sounds like the most logical case. Its a tell tell sign of what is coming. The only thing we would have to wait fro after the supports is the theme amd name, which has to do with Thanksgiving

I love the fact that the park decided to fill PP's old splashdown area up. This way, it doesn't totally look like a bunch of wasted concrete, which in essence, it really is, but hopefully to be replaced with something much better.

It looks like the coaster is coming down that far by Hyena Falls and PP. No way they would start pathway work this early in the process. That's usually the last thing that is done. If this is the case, it looks like one long ride, with what's already been cleared.

here's a what-if that I just had after reading today's clue..... a wooden roller coaster with no splash down at all, and a new log flume with a ship voyage theme using pp's splash down and removing frightful falls, that would give them space in Halloween that they could expand Halloween to.

When I look at the deck of the ship, I remind myself that this wood was once part of a towering tree. And I remind myself that we will one day see trees again when we reach the New World. - See more at: http://www.holidayworld.com/66days/#sthash.NcrVmh73.dpuf
