LBIJim
Bill beat me to the photos. In addition to the BAFF, they had the secondary entrance to the park (for those looking to enter from 537 eastbound) closed off, so anyone looking to get into the park from that direction had to drive past and turn around. You think the jughandles suck on a normal day? The secondary entrance was open on Monday, September 30, (Rosh Hashana) which also was a BAFF day. Park was fairly quiet from 11 am opening until 1 pm, then hordes of people started pouring in. Weather was nice and I suppose many people decided to attend at the last minute. I may check out the park tomorrow, October 9. Open during Yom Kippur. Cooler weather and possible rain, so it should hold down attendance.
Mike240SX
Be warned, from 6 years of working at the park, the Orthodox Jewish days were some of the busiest at the park. Not sure if that has anything to do with Yom Kippur but if it does...yeah have fun. I'll reserve my comments about the behavior of those attendees as to not offend. michaellynn4
^^ That's good to know. To be honest, I've never heard of them closing the secondary entrance; there really isn't a valid reason to unless the park itself is closed.
YoshiFan
Although the park is open because of Yom Kippur, it's more because of schools being closed. The large Jewish groups that attend the park a few days a year will not be there (it's the holiest day of the year so they are going to be at a Synagogue and not at the park), they usually visit during Passover in the spring and a day in the fall. This year it is October 17th, a buy out ( http://www.ncsygreatadventure.com/ ). I miss when that same group used to buy out the park on Easter. The park was closed to the public but season pass holders were allowed in for free even if not part of the group and it was basically no lines all day. LBIJim
^^^^^ It looks like the general public can just buy a ticket at the gate for $45 on that buyout date. Season pass holders can for $15. I haven't seen the secondary entrance closed in at least 10 years. Sometimes it would be in the fall. I don't remember when that jughandle about 1/2 mile east of the entrance opened. When the secondary entrance was closed, you needed to go another mile and turn around at the Wawa/McDonald's jughandle.
Kanakoonthecoasters
Am I the only one who likes Cyborg Cyber Spin? Sure, it had some downtime when it first opened, but all in all it's a solid experience.
coasterbill
No, I enjoy it too. I really don’t get the hate for it. Edited October 13, 2019 by coasterbill
thesman
The weekends after fright fest and before holiday in the park is the entire park open?
Mike240SX
It was two years ago in 2017, except for the Safari I think. EDIT: I should clarify. Yes, the entirety of the park was open to walk around. Many food stands were closed, as well as some ride closures, due to staffing if I had to guess. 3Mutts
The weekends after fright fest and before holiday in the park is the entire park open? Yes pretty much everything is open and unlike freight fest that weekend is DEAD. BTW the Safari is open but if you want to do it you have to buy a ticket for the Grape Adventure whine festival. Jason Maier
So I'm going up there from 10/31-11/3 and staying overnight at Days Inn Windsor/Highstown about 13 miles away. I'll very likely get the Flash Pass (gold should be sufficient enough?) and the Flash pass for the Fright Fest attractions Edit: I think Diamond and Diamond Elite members get a Flash Pass discount? RaceBoarder
The FP discount is just $5 off per person.
Jason Maier
Ah, fair enough. I've been told/read here that crowds are nucking futs during Fright Fest at GAdv. I likely won't blow too much on Flash Passes; maybe just for the final day of FF on the 3rd (figure I can hit up some on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and go all out on Sunday)
jamesinclair
Halloween is Thursday but fright fest continues until Sunday with full hours. Anyone been to fright fest after Halloween before and know what kind of crowd it is?
coasterbill
Crowds are impossible to predict at this park. Given the forecast for nice (but cool) weather where it's Fright Fest but after Halloween something like Kingda Ka's line could be anything from 15 minutes to 150 minutes Saturday and neither would surprise me. I'm serious... Note that there's a Grape Adventure event going on and that the Safari is only open as an upcharge as part of that event. Everything else is open as normal. coneyislandchris
I'm taking the Saturday plunge. (And yes I mean that literally, as apparently for some unknown reason they haven't drained the log flume yet; besides, I've always wanted to ride a flume in November.) Since for the majority of Americans spooky season immediately ends at 11:59 PM on October 31st, and then it's Black Friday doomsday prepping time / Hallmark Channel Christmas, I'm hoping that translates into low crowds at the park. But as Bill says, ya never know. Wish me luck.
coasterbill
I'm really proud of them for running their flume this late. It's very unlike them. ... now just stop the stupid grouping.

Is this the first year they've been running the flume post Labor Day weekend (when it usually closes)?

YoshiFan
I hope this also means that they will open the flume earlier in the season as well. It was always fun seeing it open in March/April even if it was barely above freezing and hoping no one was at the coin operated sprayers to get you soaked. Zand
Meh...SFNE had Blizzard River open last year in early April the day after 3" of snow fell (and hadn't melted yet) and it was 35 degrees. And people rode it for some reason. A Log Flume in the 50s? Childs play. Lol

Im actually more curious about the lines for fright fest mazes (and staffing for them) Also, the link says "What better way to span the gap between Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park? " but the fright fest website says fright fest wont end until Sunday! The gap is next weekend (9-10) As for the log flume, not only should it run year-round, but it should be extended to provide transport between the main park and the water park. coasterbill
Is it possible for them to be any more understaffed than normal? Yeah, I can’t help you with the houses because I don’t ever do them because they’re absolutely awful. jamesinclair
Is it possible for them to be any more understaffed than normal? Yes, they dont even open 2-3 of the mazes for the first couple of fright fest weeks due to staffing.
thesman
Looking to head to the park this weekend but its going to be cold. What rides don't operate in the cold, im guessing Ka?
