neil009 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 How about it's not a coaster at all? I don't see them making a big investment on a ride and then totally wasting the opportunity to hype it up and maximize their return. It just doesn't make sense. My money is on we've been totally wrong about this from the beginning. I mean, clearing a big area of land and then proceeding to fill it with nothing, it's not like this park has ever done that before OH WAIT.
Superbatboy Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Wait so the 10 inversion free spin is supposed to be twice as tall as the one at SFFT???
woolandmammoth Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Wait so the 10 inversion free spin is supposed to be twice as tall as the one at SFFT??? 67m = ~220ft. Batman is 120ft, so not exactly double. But dang close!
neil009 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 ^Can someone explain to me the point of the longer version? Obviously all the drops have to have the crap trimmed out of them so they don't kill you (you'll notice the max velocity doesn't change), and it looks like it's all just more of the same, except longer. So it's like you're riding a zipper with a cycle that's twice as long. Is that really worth such a larger investment?
thrillseeker4552 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I believe the purpose is to have the ability to add a block brake during the ride, allowing more cars to run at once, hence increasing capacity. That's what first came to mind. And SFGAdv is a much larger park than SFFT so I see the larger version being plausible.
strz Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 So no clues, leaks, etc. and "change the skyline of an untouched area of the park" has me believing that a "game changer" is coming to the park (in the same category as a Nitro and El Toro).....that said: - I understand why many have stated that there is no way another $20M+ ride is getting built, as that is no longer the business model (so we think) - I also understand those who have stated that "we" haven't gotten a major new addition in what seems like forever (and I agree with those who say that the parking lot stand up doesn't count) My two cents on all of this...... - a 4-D ride (yup, I said ride not roller coaster) would be a letdown (spinning, looping, etc. doesn't do it for me) - a version of "Lighting Run" seems too small for a park this size - some sort of significant/unique launch coaster or 300+ feet coaster is what would make me - lastly, I remember all the speculation for rides like El Toro (not enough room in that section of the park), Kingda Ka (no way SFGA would spend the $$$$), and look what happened We'll find out soon enough......

KBrylczyk Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 ^ and ^^ I'm realizing extremely quickly that I hate you and you suck as a person.
Genx24 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 The lack of clues from the park is making people lose their minds, it seems. The arguments are just silly at this point. And I'm just sitting here as one of maybe three people that are actually excited for the potential addition of a 4D.
RollerManic Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Not every park can have a prefab, Kingda oKAy, and 5 B&Ms. You guys need a GCI or maybe something like twister at Grona Land but with a larger capacity.

A GCI along the lakefront would be the best case scenario. However, it would be a timebomb the way that SF has been taking care of woodies. The only reason ET is still in great shape is because prefabs can take the extra abuse and stay smooth. If the rumors are true that SF has purchased a freespin for this year lets take a look at where it could go Magic Mountain: Nope, they have GL Fiesta Texas: Already has one New England: Just got WC, probably not getting a new coaster this year Great America: Getting Justice Leauge Discovery Kingdom: Getting RmcOAR Over Texas: Fiesta Texas is close, probably not Mexico: Possible La Rond: Possible Great Adventure: possible Regular America: Please lord, send it there Great Escape: lol This new addition has about a 1/4 chance of being a free spin. If the rumors of Centerline being at the park are true, then perhaps a GTX is possible. A premier launcher is in budget and would fit nicely in the area. For the Premier launcher to break the worlds tallest inversion record, it would have to be taller than 170ft. Since only the loop-tophat would be infront of the lake, it would have the same, if not better, 'transparent' effect. This would keep the lake visible.
neil009 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 While it's still nowhere near the coaster SFGAdv should be getting at this stage, Full Throttle is a pretty beautiful coaster. Put that in front of the lake, please.

And I'm just sitting here as one of maybe three people that are actually excited for the potential addition of a 4D. It's not so much the ride for me. It's the location. Wasting the wonderful lakefront for a ride they could really make room for anywhere else, and then save lakefront for a flagship style ride.

Now make it into a roller coaster and it's perfect.

I'm not trying to come across as a local "spoiled brat" who needs $20M+ rides year after year (though that would be just fine by me!).......however- if SFGA is tearing down so much/adding to a focal area like this, it better be "big" in my opinion!

It's nice but not beautiful. Also, the land has already been wasted for over 20 years.

It was quiet and a sort of escape from the crowds. I know I've had a lot of memories there over the years. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

I loved the area too for its peaceful nature, just a quiet shady place to walk through, but you are right beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I just consider beautiful lakefront to have a different color lake and more diverse collection of trees.
woolandmammoth Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I always thought the lakefront was a charming area. Id go as far as saying its beautiful. Will be even more beautiful without ancient rotting structures hiding it.
RideofSteel Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 This isn't really related but I found it interesting... Really shows the level of some of the people the park attracts. CAR STOLEN FROM SIX FLAGS OVERTURNS ON NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE, 2 INJURED RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Two New York City residents traveling in a stolen car were injured when the vehicle overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike as they were being pursued by police. State police say the crash occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday in the local northbound lanes of the highway in Ridgefield Park. The 17-year-old driver was ejected from the car and was hospitalized in critical condition, while 18-year-old passenger Steven Fermin was hospitalized in stable condition. But further details on their injuries were not disclosed Sunday. The car had been reported stolen around 7:20 p.m. from a parking lot at the Six Flags Great Adventure theme park in Jackson Township. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. It's not yet known if Fermin or the teenage driver will face any charges.
Superbatboy Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Now watch the parents of the two teenagers try and sue the owner of the car. Good ol' 'Merica
