P. 778: Pantherian project update!

Hoorah! Hopefully the drop stays clean and the ride is trimless before the third hill again. I'll be excited to ride it in that state again, and to see the reactions of those who only got to ride the trimmed version before.

This is great. The only thing the trim really killed was the first drop and 2nd hill, and the rest of the ride after that was still VERY good. So the only question that remains now is how much speed will be bled off in the first turn and how much airtime will remain on the 2nd hill.

i have only ridden the untrimmed version, so i don't have an informed opinion on how the trims affected it, but i believe in its untrimmed form, i305 has the greatest first drop of any coaster in the world. the lift hill is very fast and throws you out of your seat for some quality air as you crest the apex, and you remain airborne for the entire 300-foot decent.

^ I really need to get out and ride this thing. I have a feeling Millennium Force may still be my favorite first drop because the view is stunning and I305 doesn't really have that but then again... never know until you ride it.

Of the woodies at KD, only Rebel Yell is worth riding, right? I mean for people who aren't too fond of headaches and/or vomiting?

My recollection is that Hurler and Grizzly are both extremely rough, right?

Posted

^ Rebel Yell is great in spring but after hitting the summer almost unrideable... Grizzly, in my opinion, isw the most underated coaster in the park. Front seat is an epic, airtime filled ride!

Hurler could do a MS and burn for all I care...

^No, Cedar Fair decided against that I believe, they are both forwards now. It is still an awesome ride, and Grizzly really can't be beat for the night rides which are totally insane!

Nice. We'll be there the week of April 18, so I guess both will be in play.

Does Rebel Yell still run backwards?

this is pure rumor, but what i heard was the philladelphia toboggan company told them to knock it off, sadly.

As long as the insane night rides don't end up putting us out of commission for the next day, I'm all for it. Unfortunately, the park closes at 6 on the weekdays we're there, I think.

What are the tips for economical or cost effective dining (aside from bringing a cooler in the trunk) these days?

Posted

Depends on the car.

One slice of pizza and a drink at the park costs around $6-$7

And the last time I went to the Burger King across the street their prices were higher than the usual Burger King.

Hmm...now what was that I was going to say? Oh, right...now I remember...

I TOLD YOU SO!!!

People that don't lisen to Elissa or I are stupid.

Coming in late to the thread... exactly what changes were made to the ride profile, besides the removal of the trims?

basically, the first turn is wider and angles upward towards the first hill.

Coming late to the thread also I'm glad to see the drop untamed again that was truly a thing of beauty being slung over the top and the out of your seat 300 foot free fall. I never rode the trimed version either so I can't judge that version, Millie's drop is still great and has a stunning view but I350 scared the total crap outta me lol

Forty-six inversions and a ring of fire was added.

I can hear the Angels singing now...

But I can only hope those lovely, forceful, blackout-inducing G's will be there... although I have severe doubts about that.

Damn GP. If it LOOKS like it's TALL, and it's a top-five speed coaster, it's going to be intense. If they can't handle it- go ride a junior coaster. Leave the REAL rides for the grownups.

Awesome! Now we have to hope that the changes reduced the forces enough that they won't have to trim the drop AGAIN. Looks great, and I hope to ride it sometime soon.
