rcjp Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 ^Oh, really? I would expect the intamin one to be cheaper as they've built several and Mack hasn't.
gerstlaueringvar Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 ^ I thought they asked Mack to do the job because the Intamins model was to expensive. Price tag are almost the same. Extreme thrill rides can't fit into a park like Nigloland. I think it had been mentioned in this thread a few pages ago.
Loefet Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 It could be that simple that they already have a good business connection with Mack. Alpina Blitz will make the parks 4:th Mack coaster and they also have several Mack flats as well, so why go with some new company that they have little/no experience with? Â I have to say that this ride look delicious, much better than any Intamin
SuperShawn Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 ^ That makes sense to me. If you like working with a company that clearly you have a good relationship with. Why fix what isn't broken? Â Â The ride it's self is looking great, and give how fun Manta's zippy little transitions are I can only imagine what forces this ride should produce.
CPmillenia94 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 It makes me angry that this is a knock off.. If it was nearly the same price there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be intamin.
DoinItForTheFame Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 IMO It doesn't matter who built the ride. It looks like a great addition to the park. So... Mack built it and not Intamin... It's not the end of the world. Mack needs customers too.
medoman Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I prefer MACK's seats to intamins, also the trains are bound to have different efficiencies so cant judge the airtime yet
AstroDan Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 It makes me angry that this is a knock off.. If it was nearly the same price there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be intamin. Â No need to get angry! It isn't a "knock off" - it's not like Mack are some third rate amusement ride manufacturer. Â As has already been mentioned, the park already have an excellent relationship with Mack which goes back to the parks beginnings in the 1980's, where you will notice that some of the original rides are very similar to some of the original rides at Europa-Park - this has continued through the years, just look at Spatiale Experience and the similarities to Eurosat. Â This new ride is clearly based on the Intamin Mega-Lite, but the park owners obviously didn't want to go to Intamin for the ride, so they asked Mack to build it. No brainer. Â It probably won't be as insane as the Mega-Lite, but it will suit the park very well, and the build quality of the Mack coasters is higher than the Intamin coasters, plus the trains are better. Â
_koppen Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 If it was nearly the same price there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be intamin.  Mack is a very high quality ride designer, and the price is not why this ride is not from Intamin.  and the build quality of the Mack coasters is higher than the Intamin coasters  Alright, let's not get too carried away now..
GeorgeT Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Is it so hard to see it once from the parks perspective ? Mack ist above Intamin when it comes to quality AND reliability !  And if the coaster is a bit tamer than the original megalites doesn`t mean that it won`t be an amazing coaster !  Maybe you need to have ridden Blue Fire to have an idea how good the Mack Concept is  Looking forward to riding it this summer
coasterfreak101 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I do think it's a little odd that it's so similar, unlike the other Mack mini-hyper that was a bit more unique. Â Either way though, after riding Manta last summer I'm a firm believer in Mack, and I know this thing will be great!
BDG Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Comparison... Â Intamin source: http://data.sphosting.ch/Intamin/Media/Mega-Lite%20Coaster/Mega_Lite_Coaster.pdf Mack source:
_koppen Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 ^ Looks awesome! Â A lot more footage in this video.
simon8899 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 If Nigoland wanted a ride quite similar to an Intamin Mega-Lite from Mack its fine with me. And Mack is just doing what the costumer ordered. Â I hope there are no grudges from Intamin here as I think it would be very bad for the whole coaster business if the manufacturers start and be able by law to copyright layouts or elements. Imagine Arrow would have copryrighted the corkscrew or Schwarzkopf the vertical loop...
Tiborlando Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) The french website http://www.ameworld.net/forum/ has published a review of the Alpina Blitz construction tour. They explained why Nigloland has finally chosen Mack rather than Intamin: " Intamin has designed the ride. Even if the price between Intamin & Mack was approximately the same, the maintenance cost is bigger with Intamin. And also, they preferred the design of Mack train. They finally asked Mack to build the coaster." Â We also learn that the schwarzkopf coaster "La course de Bobsleigh" will probably leave the park in 2015. But fortunaly, Nigloland has a new project for 2018: a new big coaster ( with inversions ! ). The contract would have been signed, but we don't know more details. simon8899 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Hope the Bobsleigh will get a new home at a smaller park not too far away...
_koppen Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Sad about the Schwarzkopf, but oh well, that's how it is. I can imagine that the popularity of the ride has declined the last years. A Zamperla Giant Discovery would fit the footprint very well if you ask me  Interesting to hear about the new ride for 2018, hopefully it won't be delayed for two years like Alpina Blitz. When the owners of the park was in Denmark and rode Piraten they also visited Fårup and rode Lynet. A medium sized launcher would be the right addition if you ask me. The park have good relations with both Gerstlauer and Mack, but if it was my chose I would chose Mack.  You can actually see the video of the owners of the park riding Piraten Here. Sure it's all in French, but I think it's just amazing to see how they are all blown away by the ride. It's also pretty funny, because you can also see him on the phone with his brothers afterwards, and he's pretty much saying that he should open the checbok.  Some people also call this hill under the lift a Stengel dive, which is bullcrap. larrygator Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 It makes me angry that this is a knock off.. If it was nearly the same price there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be intamin. Â Â Yep, I'm pretty upset that so many restaurants copy idea such as hamburgers and pizza that were created by others.
crazywolf88 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 ^^ if that ride runs anywhere near that speed, it would be freaking insane. Possibly on par with intamin's model
KBrylczyk Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Mack's Blue Fire trains are, IMO, the best trains in the business for airtime. This is going to be nuts.
coasterfreak101 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Man, this just reminds me of how great these trains were on Manta.
