Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

That would be the amphitheatre that will house the sea lion show.

I loved the Zeppelins when I was younger, glad to see the ride refurbed! It is interesting that the decision was made to relocate it to another area of the park. At first I was thinking they might have relocated it to help with the almost certain congestion that area of the park is going to have with LR, but that doesn't really make a lot of sense considering the ride is not a major thrill attraction.

Perhaps they need a little extra room for the merging of Twisted Twins and Thunder Run that article mentioned a while back...

This is the Sea Lion show that will be a Kentucky Kingdom. It is called Sea Lion Splash by a company called Squalus. These pictures are from their website. It's from Splash Adventure Waterpark this past season. It was actually a REALLY good show and our guests LOVED it.

When the Zeppelin first opened it was located where the current entrance of Lightning Run/Greezed Lightning Run is located. The original queue line still exist today for this ride. It is to the left of the entrance of Lightning Run/Greezed Lightning. The Zeppelin was later relocated when Twisted Sisters opened.

It looks cool, I was just wondering because it was inside. Thanks!

It says that Squalus is a traveling sea lion show. But Kentucky Kingdom is having a Sea lion show for the whole operating season. How is that going to work out?

^They will just be at KK instead of traveling. We had them at Splash Adventure last year from May 9-July 21. They will be at KK from June 2-September 1. A waterpark in Illinois had their second traveling show for several weeks last year too. Assuming they have kept the show the same as last year you will get to meet Zoey, Sparky, and Alicia if you visit KK this year

Oh Boy, the Zeppelins are still there. Whew, that's a relief! What? You didn't think I was going to Kentucky Kingdom just to ride the Roller Skater, did you? Noooo . . . I'm going there to ride everything that's up and running, and then I'm going to do it again and again. By the end of my visit, I want to be waterlogged, tired, and so sick of the Roller Skater I will need lots of time to recover. Then I'll be ready to look forward to the brand new T2 and Twister Twins.

It is still so unreal that KK is actually opening! I did not think we would ever see it operate again! I look forward to a visit in a year or two!

I had doubts that it would ever reopen too. Glad to see it happening and hope the locals embrace the park so it can continue to expand and improve.

Ok, IF Six Flags still owned KK. Do you think they would have made Thunder Run into something similar to Goliath?

I doubt it. Just wondering.

What are you talking about? Do you mean renovating it like NTAG or iRat?

And to answer your question, it would be very doubtful for an RMC makeover as Kentucky Kingdom was never really at the top of Six Flags' priorities and the ride was not really declining in quality nearly as much as Texas Giant or Rattler.

Yeah, I also had massive doubts it would ever reopen. I really hope it does better this time around!

I have no doubts that it will. I imagine the season passes at $59 are being snapped up quickly and it's definitely a no brainer for us locals and the other thing is too is that there was so much popularity for the hiring fair that they had to shut off the application process because so many people applied. I think it'll be back and have nothing to worry about as long as Hart doesn't decide to sell it again to someone who'll take his hard work and run it into the ground like Six Flags did.
