Guy T. Koepp
The question on everyone's mind is how the massive dump went? Can you beat 3 lbs in one sitting? You go (to the bathroom) Robb! robbalvey
Day 12 - So this was kind of a bad weekend for me.... Saturday was our anniversary and we had made plans to go to Buca Di Beppo. Now I'm not sure if you've ever been here before but it's *NOT* diet friendly!!! Even something as simple as a salad would have put 5 lbs on me! Heck, I think they got the placed rigged so that when you walk through the door you automatically gain at least one pound! Regardless, it was awesome! So that was Saturday night and on Sunday I just knew that I would get yelled at by WiiFit so in an effort to reverse the damage done by Buca's I ate very, VERY lightly on Sunday (let's face it I was still full from Buca's most of the day) and I worked out almost all day with a extra gym workout in the evening. It at least seemed to pay off! According to WiiFit I dropped 2.4 pounds since my last visit! Still not on track for a pound a day for my goal, but still better than gaining anything from Buca's! The moral to the story? If you're dieting you can take a day off and eat, BUT you gotta work HARD the next day in return! Anyway, here's today's report... Starting weigh in - 260 Today's weigh in - 252 Total weight loss - 8 pounds in 12 Days Today's weigh in....252 pounds! While I would have liked that to say "Lost 3 or 4 pounds" I'll take the 2.4 considering how much we ate at Buca's!!! Wow! I'm actually shocked! Trust me, WiiFit, I've eaten ENOUGH this weekend!!! Yes, yes, WiiFit I know, I know.... I like how Elissa is checking me out!
Chris Benvenuto
I'm kind of doing the same thing losing weight, but without WiiFit. I weigh about 270, and I plan to lose about 50-60 more pounds before next spring. I could barely fit in some rides at CP this fall, so it's time to drop a LOAD WAIT FOR IT OF POUNDS (I've lost 10 so far!)
disneygurlz2s
I have lost and kept off close to 40 pounds in the past two years. I know exactly what you mean, Robb-you kick yourself mentally when you go and "pig out", even if it's for a good occasion. (To that, Congrats on the Anniversary.... can't believe I have been stalking your photo gallery for that many years....) The key is exactly what you are doing. Compensate for it over the next few days. Really, when you think about it, that's the premise behind Weight Watchers "point" system. Shari
robbalvey
Who is the new family member in the Wii Fit plaza? That's Ashley, KidTums' babysitter on the weekends. --Robb
niiicolaaah
Who is the new family member in the Wii Fit plaza? Oh, and great work! I have no idea what Buca's is but I'm sure we don't have one in Alabama and I'm sure it's great. Good job losing weight. 2.4 pounds is great, especially considering the circumstances. Oh, and Wii Fit makes me cry when it bitches at me. Buca di Beppo is an Italian restaurant where they force you to eat loads of food. They serve everything "family style" which means they give you a lot and you're supposed to share.
nay
The moral to the story? If you're dieting you can take a day off and eat, BUT you gotta work HARD the next day in return! Exactly. I can never stay with a strict diet, but I try to eat sensibly and if I have a pig out day, so what? I'll just run a few extra miles the next day. Looks like you're doing great so far! supermanrosfan0810
Ahh yes Buca di Beppo. We went there as a team to celebrate the end of the week I was in New Jersey for Rowing Club Nationals! That place is pretty wild, our team just called it biccadipiccadiboccitabeppo (or words to that effect) Glad to see that crazy place didn't cause a gain Robb! TheRapidsNerd
Oh, and great work! I have no idea what Buca's is but I'm sure we don't have one in Alabama and I'm sure it's great. No, sadly no Buca's, but there is a Carabba's in Huntsville...and it's 10 minutes away from my flat. Considering the weekend, that sounds like a reasonable recovery and staying on track. You could've done much worse, so hey, it's another victory on the road. Way to stick with it.
coolhandluke
Entertaining updates so far, Robb. Well done and quite consistent given your schedule. I'm quite impressed you managed to record a loss after a Buca weekend. I've been to the Columbus OH one a few times, and it's easily one of the greatest atmospheres in a restaurant. Oh, and the food is just ridiculous. Buca's pizza. Served on pepper cans, as always.

U2Rox
Hey been really busy!! Just wanted to say losing the pounds you did this weekend is Very good! Especially considering the circumstances! Congrats by the way! My weigh in was also good! Two weeks ago I was at 150, Yesterday, 146! A day history for me, I haven't been this thin (if you can call it that) since.... well ...I can't quite remember!! I've lost 22 pounds since Aug. 18th!! Keep up the good work Robb!! You can do it!! I'll be heading to Phoenix tomorrow, so will see if I can fight temptation! I don't know, between McDonalds breakfast, Waffle House, and In & Out Burger, I might have to spend some extra time on the track!!
robbalvey
Day 14: Today was another one of those days which made me doubt the Wii Fit. Over the last 2 days I've eaten very lightly and worked out quite a bit. Did a 30 minute work out at the gym both nights plus time on Wii Fit. My bathroom scale says I've lost 1.5lbs but Wii Fit says I've gained 1lb. Hmmm.... Well, like I've said before, we'll see where I'm at after 30 days. If I analyze every day it probably won't help much. It just bums me out a little bit because I *feel* like I've made progress yet it doesn't show. *sigh* Anyway... Anyway, here's today's report... Starting weigh in - 260 Today's weigh in - 253 Total weight loss - 7 pounds in 14 Days
terrancew_hod
^^That's why I don't weigh myself that often, I usually go by how clothes fit and reactions from others. Usually I end up weighing more but slimming up, because I'm weightlifting more than anything else. But even when I do my aerobics only, I won't weigh myself because it's not really an accurate depiction of my goal. Besides now I have to change the type of pants I wear soon because my thighs are bigger and my waist is getting smaller.. straight leg jeans are out of the question! But keep going and don't get discouraged! Terry
Guy T. Koepp
Today is going to be a tough day for everybody. Good luck to Robb and everybody on the weight loss bandwagon. I personally may have to add 1 or 2 days back to when sexy returns. Dinner is at 3-4ish pm, Alana and I have been making preparations since yesterday morning. I am making my world famous beer brine rotisserie turkey as well as a hard cider and brownsugar brine ham. They both have been living in their respected liquids since 10am yesterday. At noon the ham will hit the oven for 3 hours and the turkey will be in the rotisserie for 2+hours at 1. I expect by 1:30 the house will be filled with all the sweet smells that accompany this wonderful gluttfest! Happy Turkey day 'erbody! I expect to see you all on the elliptical rider on Friday! robbalvey
Well, we don't really "celebrate" Thanksgiving so for me it's just a normal day. We may go out to dinner, but if we do I probably won't eat any more or less than any other day. I'm really getting frustrated with Wii Fit. My bathroom scale weighed me in at the same as yesterday, but Wii Fit said I gained 1.3 pounds! I think I'm going to try it again later today and see if that does anything. --Robb
AllenA07
Robb are you by chance using the WiiFit board on carpet? I've read that can lead to some strange results. If you are you could always try adding the feet extensions or better yet move it so somewhere in your place that has hard floor. As far as I've been able to tell the Wii has pretty good range (I find myself running around my apartment rather then running in place, and I've never had a range issue) so you could try moving into another. printersdevil78
Great job, Robb and Roxanne! I lost 40 pounds between last March and July; it's not easy! It's not too difficult to gain back, either, unfortunately. I'm up 11 pounds since the Behemoth/Flyer trip (OK, so 10 of those pounds were probably because of the Behemoth/Flyer trip...). My plan is to wait until after the holidays, when we're past our busy time at work and past the party season, and I can get back to maintaining a fairly healthy diet. I've got to drop another 40 before the West Coast Trip so I can look buff for all those California girls the Beach Boys are always singing about! robbalvey
Day 16 - Ok, so I'm a little bit happier with WiiFit right now. I did a little bit of reseach and found that many people who had been playing it with the balance board on carpet were seeing the similar problem I was...their home scale was telling them one thing, but WiiFit was telling them something else. It was reccomended to not have the balance board in the same spot every day. I figured "what the hell?" might as well give that at try! As of yesterday, my home scale had me down like 5 pounds over the past few days, but WiiFit had me gain weight! So I moved the board about 2 feet back, and BAM! I got my pounds back! Err....Lost! Or whatever! Anyway, the WiiFit now seems to be consistent with the bathroom scale, which is a good thing! So then fast forward to today....I'm not sure what happened, but I woke up at 7am with a horrible, horrible stomach flu! Let me just say that today would NOT have been a good day to hang out near our bathroom!!! Let's just say that had I actually eaten traditional thanksgiving food yesterday, our toilet would have looked like this: But the amazing thing about all my BFT (Butt Force Trauma) was that I lost a whopping FOUR FREAKING POUNDS TODAY!!! OMFG! All I can say is that while I'm very happy about this, I DO NOT reccomend this as the way to lose weight!!!! I basically couldn't move until about 5pm today...and right now, I'm sore...I mean, I took a four pound dump!!! I could probably sell that in some cultures! Anyway, here's today's report... Starting weigh in - 260 Today's weigh in - 244 Total weight loss - 16 pounds in 16 Days I'm pretty happy with the new progress!!! Now I just need to keep this up! And today's stomach flu or "BFT" led to a FOUR POUND weight loss!!! (Kids, don't try this at home!!!) Yesterday's weigh in made me very happy! WiiFit was finally consistent with the hobbit feet bathroom scale after about 3 days of weirdness. Elissa and I are checking out our progress...KidTums looks slightly annoyed and Jahan is asleep...as per usual!
coasterdude5
That's the one good thing about getting sick! This is somewhat of an off-topic question, but it's been bugging me. You said that you all don't really have a traditional "Thanksgiving". Is that common on the west coast? It'd be fine with me. I think Thanksgiving's become (for some) all about seeing how much food you can cook and stuff in your face in the least amount of time. Keep up the losage. Is that even a word?
robbalvey
^ No, most people on the west coast celebrate it traditionally. Just that most of my family here lives hours away in the LA traffic, and Elissa's family lives in Florida. We are seeing her family in like 2 weeks so it just made sense for us to basically "have a day to ourselves!" And Elissa with her weird eating habits doesn't do traditional Thanksgiving food, and the only thing I really like is the turkey, and quite honestly, I'd satisfied getting a turkey leg at a park every so often! --Robb
thrillgeek
Glad you figured out a way to get the scale to work correctly. I'm sure it will get even easier as time goes on to lose more weight. Keep it up!
robbalvey
^ Yeah, it was really frustrating that WiiFit was showing little to no progress or weight gain yet my actual scale was showing loss almost every day, and I can *feel* that shirts and shorts aren't fitting as tight. But we'll see how it goes the next few days. I actually did eat a bit more today after I was feeling better just to get some food in me, so I don't expect a huge loss tomorrow or the next day, but honestly, that's fine! My health as to come first!!! --Robb
