Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Basically taking all of the coaster rumors that have been posted, adding in the fact that CF likes to ride the wave one year after said coaster addition. Then the idea that has been thrown around that they won't add more than 2 dark rides a year.

Not exactly rocket science and I did explain that up in the original post

Or any kind of science at all.

In most cases, posting to forums does not rely on science.

I realize you're just being rude so please feel free to enlighten us on your opinion of what will happen

In general, on this forum I post about what I have done and what I would like to do. When I talk about park futures, it's mostly in the sense of what I would like to happen. I do not post wild, baseless speculation as though it's fact or logical deduction.

What I would like Worlds of Fun to do is continue re-tracking Timber Wolf and to get a dark ride. Those are truly the only two areas where is needs improvement.

Well I can confirm that Timber Wolf will continue its retrack/re profile the next two years. So I guess that part of your wish list is coming true.

As far as your posting tendencies that is your prerogative. But nowhere did I claim my list as "fact"

See that IMHO? That means "in my humble opinion". I can't help if deduced my post as fact, but that is solely on you.

Anyone else think that the park could use an S&S Screaming Swing? When I was at the park last summer, I noticed how many centrifugal force attractions the park has (Zulu, Finnish Fling, Bamboozler, etc.) and a good swing could really round out the flats line-up at the park.

I'd like a good Frisbee style ride, preferably a Zamperla Giant Discovery.

I'm still not sure how excited I am about the potential new dark rides. Most of the newer dark rides lately have been based on those awful cutouts instead of real props - I don't know who thought that was a good idea. The new SF rides sound interesting, but the operational issues have been worrisome. Seems like they are having to reinvent the wheel to get proper dark rides back to the regional park level. I miss the Bill Tracy craziness.

Most definitely. While the park does have a good collection most of them spin. I'm not as young as I used to be so I can't ride spin and spews like the youngsters can.

Am I the only one on this thread who remembers Dominator, the S&S Tower at the park?

The detonator is more of a launching ride, it doesn't really go very fast towards the ground. It'd be cool if one side became a dropping tower, but I don't even think that is possible.

Worlds of Fun had officially become Dorney Park. Everyone is at Oceans of Fun and the ride park is dead.

They really need to add to the waterpark as it's way past capacity. I would be fine if the next two seasons they add some more slide complexes to help with capacity.

Next two years are for WOF additions. An OOF addition would be nice though.

^ That makes sense though. This is the first hot day the area has had in quite some time. Perfect for visiting a water park. Plus, it keeps the lines down for the Coasters lol!

As would I, but I am also realistic and can see that the waterpark is where the capacity need is right now. There were suits out there today watching the crowd levels. It was insane.

The next two years are WOF. Although I would live to see another slide complex at OOF.

Do you have proof of confirmation for that?

It's been posted so many times that people have taken it as fact.

Really, the biggest need is at Oceans.

Got confirmation from the GM himself at Coaster Mayhem last year. Something along the lines of "We will be focusing on the WOF side in 2016 and 2017." Sure, things can change, but it's not like we are just making stuff up.

Unless you got it from Bender, himself (regional manager that has his office at WOF) take it with a grain of sand

Sunday also happened to be "bring a friend day", where tickets are $15 if one member in a group has a pass. Oceans of fun has ample room to expand, and depending on where their property line boundary is, they could even build all the way around the eastern side of the lake they have. One thing is for sure though, if the water park gets more attractions, the parking situation needs to be addressed. They added an entire new parking lot literally 2 years ago, and parking for the water park yesterday was a disaster. I've seen people park on the grass before, but. It was crazy. I think ANOTHER issue is that the park is a tad understaffed this year, because there were multiple rides at worlds of fun not open, and there weren't any people directing OoF traffic. Just. It was insane yesterday, and with good reason.

It's not fair to say the theme park never sees crowds though, as more often than not the water park is the dead one. This week is the first KC has had with heat indexes over 100, and that definitely showed yesterday. Each side has their days where it has more people, so one day of 100 degree weather isn't a fair judgement for how the entire park runs every year. Honestly, the water park and the theme park both have their good days. But 105 degrees isn't the most ideal weather for the gp when it comes to coaster riding, especially with a free water park a few hundred feet away. Nevertheless, the coasters weren't completely dead, and most of them were running 2 trains by around 1 pm. On a Sunday. A SUNDAY

The park wasn't ready for yesterday, I wasn't either! Both sides of the park need expansion, but that doesn't happen quickly so we have to just wait and see what corporate is going to do

I know this is kinda something that's off topic, but I couldn't find info on it anywhere else. If you look at the construction photos of Mamba, or photo's of when it was new, you may notice that the crown (top piece) of mamba on the first hill is all red, even under the track, while everywhere else, it is silver. Can anybody explain this, and can anyone name when they changed this? It doesn't seem to be that way now.

Here's a picture of it during construction. (also- Mamba has gotten a lot less red over the years, it seems. Maybe a new paint job?)
