justint87 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 ^ Yeah you would be somewhere around a month too early... give or take a few weeks. Back on topic, just a quick description on whats been happening at the site. Basically more trees have been put in and a lot more work has been done on the exterior of the aquarium/station including the little towers we saw in the artwork. A lot of work is probably being done on the interior of the building as well but that is out of our view.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 ...with a huge pullout. couldn't resist.
palavos3 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 I was talking with a sea world employee over the phone. She said it is possible Manta might open in March!
bgeguy Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 They're moving fast, but not that fast. Count on it being open in late April/early-mid May.
Kalepi_Konei Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Does anyone else think that heartline roll after the pretzel loop looks misshapen?
Speeddeamon128 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Don't count on an April opening. Crap I'll be in Orlando April 14-19 Oh well I'll be back in June for my senior class trip if it isn't open then
4rturo Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Does anyone else think that heartline roll after the pretzel loop looks misshapen? Yes it looks kinda weird, but remember its not about how it looks but about how it feels and how smooth it is
coasterfreak914 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Does anyone think/wish/hope that Sea World, in the future, might replace the mcbr with a more exciting element? I doubt they will, but I think that mcbr is a real waste of space, considering that all the other B&M flyers don't have one.
larrygator Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Does anyone else think that heartline roll after the pretzel loop looks misshapen? OMG - you're right! B&M, SeaWorld and the contractors all screwed up and people are going to die. Do not ride Manta, repeat do not ride Manta.
Xmeister Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 ^ I never thought I'd call an inanimate object that is hundreds of feet taller than me and is several thousand times my weight sexy, but I agree. Manta is one fine girl and I can't wait to ride her. Gigitty Giggitty
KrakenKing Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Summer 09 now... Guess they're behind schedule
coasterperson Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Comparing Manta with Tatsu just makes Tatsu look better but the ride does look nice I guess... Even though its not the worlds largest fastest flying roller coaster
WFChris Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Does anybody else find the placement of the MCBR more like an... ECBR? Seems pointless to go through a mid-course then do a lame little helix and end. More like an encore than a second 'half' Chris.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 ^I'm still not 100% convinced it's a MCBR. It's just the safety brake to the Main Brake and just has a huge section of track between it and the Service Brake. The track area behind the shed is where the Transfer block and Service block rest. That essentially would make the Mid-Course block, a Safety Brake, and not it's own block.
KrakenKing Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I kind of wish they did the MCBR like they did the lift, with catwalks on either side, but nothing to obstruct the view below you. If they did have to do an emergency evacuation, they could just use a moving platform like they have on the lift.
alpengeist04 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I was at the park the other day and the pictures on the internet really don't do Manta justice. It's just a really cool looking coaster and that's without the theming in place yet. I just can't wait to see this coaster take form in the coming months. As for the "MCBR", I hope they have it on as light as Kraken's was the other day. The train was just flying through it.
Lenaapple1974 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Yes, such a sexy coaster. That pretzle loop (it is one, right?) is calling my name. I can guarantee if its open when I go in July, I will be there the second the park opens just to ride it without a crazy line! I totally cannot wait for all the theming to go up! The queue should definitely be something interesting to go through! I notice the switched signs back to summer seem to be staying now. Hopefully that changes. (OR, hopefully they consider the first week of July summer!!)
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I really love how it goes over the pathways in places, kind of like Air. That is just a cool looking ride.
alpengeist04 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 ^Yea, it really is cool how the first drop comes pretty close to the pathway. It almost feels like you can reach up and high five someone as the train goes by.
