P. 418: Camp Snoopy expansion announced including new family coaster

Recommended Posts

Is there any difference between the two types of train B&M has used for their hypercoasters? I have ridden Apollo and Goliath (SFOG) but I have yet to ride one with this type of train. So is there a big difference? Or is it pretty similar?

Personally, I don't find the trains all that different. However, I do think the newer B&M hypers (as a group) are a bit different from the older ones.

Which is to say, in my opinion, SFOG's Goliath is much closer to Diamondback than to Apollo, despite the similar trains.

The differences I have noticed between new and old as far as layouts go, the older B&M's have tighter drop and apex to the hill tops due to the trains cars being less bulky. The initial drops are wider on the new ones also.

As far as trains go the trains are now 8 cars long instead of 9, the seating is also more deja'vu'esk. Giving everyone a front row seat for the most part. Added apparently , the new trains give "ejector" air in the front row, prolonged air time in the middle and insane air in the back now. A huge step forward from the floater only.

Diamondback to me has ejector up front, and then floater the rest of the train with the back row being a bit more intense floater air. It definitely isn't the same as the old style trains are in the back in my opinion. That being said, I still love the ride. DB was going to place about #2 or #3...until I rode the front row.

Yes I have never ridden a B&M hyper with this new train style, but from the feel of seeing the one at IAAPA and all the pictures of DB, Behemoth and now this, I think it is safe to say I like the old train style better.

I understand it is meant to give a more open and free feel, but I don't like the fact you are so isolated from your group on either of the two outside seats. I'm not a fan of it on the GIBs either. Maybe it is just me.

Trains still look nice and this coaster should be fun, but I like the old style more.

Just ride the new style train in the very front. You might have a different opinion.

I'm with Jarmor and Skycoastin Steve I often visit alone so this type of seating arraingment doesn't bother me much with or without a group.

Also Imo this type of B&M train seams to provides better airtime over the old 4 across trains, especially on rides like DB and Behemoth compared to like Nitro and RB Imo.

^I don't think Raging Bull is a very fair comparison for airtime...

It's great that a small group of people go to parks alone, but seriously, outside of the coaster enthusiast community (and even inside in most cases), who goes to parks alone? Most people that ride this will be teens with a group of their friends, I don't think they'll like being isolated nearly as much as the few people that go alone.

dude, you are acting like every coaster around has 4 across seating. B&M were really the first company to adopt this as their standard coaster car seating. These same groups that visit the parks dont have a problem riding an intamin, vekoma, arrow, gci, especially the maurer spinners, gg and the list goes on and on of coaster producers who have just 2 seat coasters as their main offerings.

So I ask, wheres the beef?

I'm sure the teens "with a group of their friends" will get over it. If not, then I'm sure they can go ride Vortex or Nighthawk instead.

...Whether you're with a group or alone, sometimes it's nice having a little room when riding a coaster. Personally, I'm glad they're getting these newer style trains.

Nobody seems to mind on Behemoth or Diamondback, which are both the most popular rides in their parks.

I didn't necessarily mean to say that it'd ruin the ride or anything, I just said that most people would prefer not being isolated. For instance, Deja Vu has the same kind of seating, and it's kind of annoying riding with a friend, but not being able to talk to him or her on it because he's a good 4 feet away (and in Vu's case, pretty hidden from your view). I'm just saying that most people would probably prefer a ride where you're sitting next to someone (well I guess that's true for the first seats in each car), especially if they're scared, which the gp will most likely be on a coaster this size.
