Theme Park Review's 2008 Europe Trip

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

Since our 2008 Europe Trip is only a few months away, I wanted to start a new thread to give some of you who may be interested in this trip an update as to new information about this trip, where we are going, what parks we are visiting, etc.

First off, many of you have emailed us and said you really wanted to do the trip, but it's out of your budget or you cannot get the time off work. Well, we listened, and now we present to you a shorter, CHEAPER option for the 2008 Mainland Europe trip! Download the new flyer here:

http://www.themeparkreview.com/events/europe_2008_flyer_tpr.pdf

The FULL VERSION of the trip is $3050 and includes the following 17 parks:

Europa Park, Parc Asterix, Disneyland Paris, Disney Studios Paris, Walibi Belgium, Walibi World, Toverland, Phantasialand, Bobbejaanland, Heide Park, Efteling, Holiday Park, Tripsdrill, Drievliet, Schlossbeck. Movie Park Germany, Walygator Metz, and possibly more!

The CHEAPER VERSION of the trip is $2600 and includes all those parks EXCEPT Disneyland Paris.

You will ride OVER 75 ROLLER COASTERS on this trip!

This trip also includes:

- 14 nights of lodging (11 on the cheaper version)

- 10+ hours of ERT on several different rides and roller coasters (download the flyer for the current schedule)

- All ground transportation

- At LEAST one meal per day

- TPR Trip Shirt

- TPR Luggage tags

- DVD of photos and video from the trip

- Snacks, drinks, goodies, and much more!

- Access to the TPR Mainland Europe 2008 Trip Forum

To register for this trip, your initial deposit of $1750 is due NOW! You may either pay your deposit via the TPR Store http://www.themeparkreview.com/order.htm or download the flyer for additional payment options.

**NOTE - if the $1750 initial deposit is a bit rough on the checkbook, email us. We may be able to work out other payment arrangements.

Post if you have any questions and we hope to see you in Europe!

Hey Robb, listen I really want to do one of these TPR trips (and it's going to be during summer vacation, which for me is perfect timing!) but I'm having a hard time convicing my mom to let me go. The cheaper option sounds great except for the part that said "No Disneyland Paris". Don't get me wrong, the other parks sound like fun, but Disneyland Paris (to me) is one of the headliners of the tour. Is there anyway that I can still go on the trip and not miss out on Disneyland Paris? I'm willing to give up Efteling, Drievliet, Schloobeck, and Tripsdrill.

Thanks!

That would present some serious logistical problems as those parks are in the middle of the trip. Not only would you be stranded somewhere in Belgium or Holland and have to make your way to somewhere in Germany, you wouldn't save any money because you'd have to pay for your own lodging and transport. In fact, you'd probably wind up paying MORE to do it that way.

The reason skipping DLP saves you money is because the trip begins and ends in Paris. DLP is the last park on the tour, so you'd just fly home early.

My guess is this cheaper option is more aimed at Europeans who likely have already been to DLP and aren't paying $1,200 to $1,500 to fly to Paris.

^ Exactly. While Disneyland Paris is an amazing place, it's also the most expensive part of the trip.

For many people they have been there already and don't need 3 nights on property.

This 2nd option is targeted more towards people who want to do more of the 'roller coaster' portion of the trip and don't need Disney or only want to do Disney for one day on their own.

^ Thats would I would like. But the thing is, like people above me, is that I love Disney parks and I wouldnt want to miss out on DLP. But I've been saving my pennies and I have about 1000 dollars saved up, So you should be seeing me soon on one of the trips.

I think this is a great option if you are on the borderline of being able to go. I really would love to, but I'm dedicated to the East Coast Tour this year! (and time off work is already arranged for East Coast...) For those concerned about missing Disney....a single park trip is something you might be able to manage on a non-coaster tour some day. I know friends that are thinking of a Europe trip that I will be hard pressed to get to do multiple smaller parks, but they would be easily led down the Disney path. All of the other parks done the TPR way...a much better plan! I would also prefer going to Disney with TPR, but if it means getting to do the rest of the trip or not...let the mouse wait and go for it!

My suggestion for those budget travelers whom wish to still go to Disney would be to arrive a day or two early, and catch an RER(commuter rail) train to the Paris suburb Fontenay Suos Bois. Once there, get a hotel, for example, there used to be a Holiday Inn 300 ft from the RER station. That just so happens to be the line that goes right to Downtown Disney, from where you walk right to the gate. Then when you are done you take a train back into Paris and then to CDG, and catch the shuttle to that meeting place.

Staying in a Suburb is much cheaper than staying at the resort or Downtown Paris.

Yeah, and right now I have a tough time convincing my parents to let me go on the trip mainly because she has seen pictures of your past TPR trips and she says that "you guys are weird." So...yeah. PLus, she wants to know what the weather's like over in Europe.

--------

Also, I noticed that in most of the TPR Trip Reports and DVD's there aren't really many 16-year-olds. If I do go on the trip, am I going to be the only 16-year-old?

as soon as I move out I am doing a TPR trip. I dont want to ask my parents now because they will also think you guys are weird and think I am weird for even going on a trip just for coasters. Although I probably would not start with Europe and try a US trip first.

haha, your guys' trips always seem so cool, but i'm too lazy to save money for a trip

But, I'm only about 30 minutes away from Holiday Park and it'd be cool to meet up with you guys. Do you know what day you'd be there?

You might want to check with Robb and Elissa before you assume you can attend ERT sessions.

They have addressed this many times before. ERT is for the Trip participants only since they are paying for the sessions.

How comes your not coming to the UK we miss you is it the overall cost??

Because this is the "Mainland Europe" trip, not a UK trip. The continent has more than enough parks to keep us busy.

My understanding is they'll be repeating the UK trip eventually.
