Coaster Palooza
^CGA's Halloween Haunt is open until 12am on Friday, October 3. You could hit that on the way to the hotel. Maybe I could even meet you there!
Ryan King
Also, I know you're just credit whoring, but Gilroy Gardens really deserves more than an hour. It's really nice. I have to second that notion. I tried to go in there just to get my two credits, but i ended up riding a lot more stuff! It is a really beautiful California park, and not to mention its only 30 minutes or so away from Santa Cruz! I would almost suggest you scrap Pixieland and do Santa Cruz. You'd have three credits there, the Classic Giant Dipper Woodie, the Hurricane, and the Dragon Kiddie... PLUS not to mention the Boardwalk stays open pretty late...so you could probably do that park after you do Gilroy Gardens... Did you consider Santa Cruz? -Ryan
Big Mike
I already have the 3 credits at Santa Cruz! That is why I am skipping it I guess this Gilroy Gardens place must be pretty cool! Thanks for the offer to stay at Hotel Pound It, maybe Thursday night. I have to figure the rest of the trip out tonight. Peace, Big Mike
Ryan King
Well then NO SANTA CRUZ FOR YOU! We dont want you anyways! Haha. Alright, cool deal. And let me know about rooming stuff! I confirmed with Dad and he was way cool with it. Ive got a pull out couch with your name on it! -Ryan
Big Mike
Hey Bob and Ryan, One last question: Are either of those two coasters open on a Friday? Peace, Big Mike
thrillerman1
Big Mike I highly recommend Gilroy Gardens too. It almost feels like you're back in one of those parks on the Europe trip, and no other park smells so fresh IMO.

darklingscribe
I wish I could join you Big Mike. Looks like you'll be hitting most of the Northern California parks. Judging by your list I assume you have already gotten the credits at Great America and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. (Though I feel compelled to point out that The Sea Serpent at the boardwalk opened in 2000, the same year as Medusa at SFDK, so if you haven't been to the Bay Area after 1999 you'll be missing a credit.) Also you'll really have to hurry to make it from Pixieland to Gilroy Gardens in an hour and a half, rush hour shouldn't be that much of a problem on a weekend but the freeways around here are always in a state of impending traffic jam. After that I'd recommend taking the Pacheco Pass (rt 152) over to Interstate 5 down to Southern California. That way only takes about 6 hours to get to LA. If you're using 101 (which I tried to do recently) expect it to take about 9 hours from Gilroy.
Ryan King
So No Fresno Stops? Also! Another thing I thought about is that the BIG FRESNO FAIR is currently in town, which means theres a bunch of screwed up carnival rides and normally at least 3 Carnie coasters! This might be something youre interested in? Its always a huge thing here in Fresno...So Id think about it? Heres my report from two years ago - http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29969&highlight=fresno+fair Or their website - http://www.fresnofair.com/fair/
Coaster Palooza
Hey Mike, I just called Rotary Storyland/Playland and Blackbeards in Fresno. Below is their info: Rotary - open weekends only, no operations on Friday. Roeding Park is where Rotary is located inside of. Roeding Park is open daily, not the amusement (Storyland/Playland) area. Blackbeards - Open daily, but no coaster operation until Sat/Sun from Noon-5pm. I was also told that their coaster might not be operating and to call them again on Saturday to check. I wouldn't drive out of my way to Fresno since you are coming back up to San Jose. There isn't a coaster to get at the moment.
Big Mike
Fresno would be that Friday if it is possible, but the rides are not open at that one park on Fridays. Thanks Tim for the great advice! I do already have all of Great America and Santa Cruz. Peace, Big Mike
Ryan King
You might be able to get fair credits...or if youre a fan of Gretchen Wilson Fan...she plays that night!
Coaster Palooza
Rain Friday night in the North bay. It will continue to the South bay over-night and hopefully clear up by Saturday morning. It will also be pretty cool...mid-70s highs. That is your Groundhog Day weather forecast! See you tomorrow...
ILoveRitalin
I may have to see if I can steal away for a little bit on Saturday at DK if you wouldn't mind meeting up. I still haven't gotten my credit on THBS. I'm kind of an asshole, though... No seriously, I am. Ask Robb.
Big Mike
I am sure there are more than a few people that think I am an ass too, but it is all good.
