larrygator Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 What type of enthusiast are you riding Thunderhead (or any highly ranked wood coaster) just once? LAME Thunderhead is one of the few woodies that I prefer in the front row versus the last row.

Big Mike Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 What type of enthusiast are you riding Thunderhead (or any highly ranked wood coaster) just once? LAME Thunderhead is one of the few woodies that I prefer in the front row versus the last row. Larry, That was a looooong ass day. Woke up at 4am in New Jersey, flew into Atlanta, drove 4 hours to Dollywood, had 3 side trips to do, and a 4 hour drive back to Atlanta. We wanted to make sure we did the whole park first and when we made a complete curcuit of the park, Thunderhead is on the total opposite side. I agree we failed, but there were reasons for it. I have a condo or two right in that area, and with all the stuff there to do and a few bigger parks within driving distance, I will be back again. Maybe you can come too. Peace, Big Mike
Coaster Palooza Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 We rode in the front row and the last row. Our opinion of Thunderhead is the same as both of you. It just didn't do it for us. Great TR by the way!

Kennyweird Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I wouldn't mind visiting Dollywood someday if I get the chance. It seems like a nice park with some interesting coasters. By the way, that was good TR, thanks for sharing.
Ibztone Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Dollywood is a really nice park. They have a lot of neat shops and good food too.
Chadley Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Great TR Mike! Will be heading down there in July, and I can't wait. DW is one great park, that's doing a lot as of late to keep the people pouring in. All four coasters, (not including that Veggietales death machine ), rank from really good to outstanding in my opinion. And they are getting quite a good line-up of flats too. But the hospitality and food don't hurt either!
SharkTums Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Oh Wow, I had no idea you guys only spent a few hours at Dollywood. I could LIVE at that park... Although I totally agree that Thunderhead is WAY overrated. I think this is my current GCI List: 1. Ozcat 2. Rumbler 3. Renegade 4. Roar (West) 5. Thunderbird 6. Thunderhead 7. Troy 8. Roar (East) 9. Gwazi 10. Lightning Racer 11. Wildcat
kraken613 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Mine is 1.) Tie between Thunderhead and Rumbler 2.)Renagade 3.)Gwazi I need to ride more GCI's. But Thunderhead is just good to me..... I look forward to my next ride even after 187 rides......
bobafett Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Hey Big Mike, let me know when you are going to hit Clementon Park in Clementon,NJ and Morey's Piers in WildWood,NJ because I would love to tag along with you and I can show a lot of great places to see and eat while down in WildWood,NJ. Just let me know and I will be happy to be your tour guide for the day in WildWood and Clementon. And if we need to take a break while in WildWood, we can make a pit stop at my summer home down there.
Big Mike Posted April 5, 2008 Author Posted April 5, 2008 ^ That is a deal. Thanks for the hospitality This is why I love Theme Park Review, you can always find a friend from here no matter where your travels bring you! Count on a private message when I go there. Peace, Big Mike
DBru Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I completely agreed with everything you said. Though Thunderhead is kind of overrated, it IS better in the front. Just give it a try next time around... I'm heading to the park in about 10 minutes. It's raining, but that won't stop us... yet
DRACHEN_FIRE_FAN-BOY Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 wow, I really wish I had the spare time, and gas money to go to DollyWood. it looks like it would be a lot of fun! great TR can't wait for more ^_^
bobafett Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 ^^^I'm looking forward to being part of Big Mike's Road Trip 2008!
sfne2005 Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 ^^^I'm looking forward to being part of Big Mike's Road Trip 2008! You are? WHY? What is wrong with you?
jkwan Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Hey, does any one know if Dollywood would be packed on the last weekend of May? Because that's when I think I'm going and I've haven't been in many years and it looks like they added some new rides so I'm stoked.
ParkTrips Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 just buy a qbot, its only a few extra bucks (compared to the nearly $50 admission), its easily worth it because Mystery Mine tends to get a pretty decent line
Big Mike Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 I agree, the Q-bot is a must for only $10 more. Peace, Big Mike
Big Mike Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 Hi there good friends!! The Big Mike Road Show keeps rolling along, bringing you as much valuable information, fun times, pictures, and Big Mike as possible. Before we start, I was honored this week by Robb with a link of Big Mike's Road Show 2008 ON THE FRONT PAGE!!!!! When I saw my picture on the front page, I was very joyful My goal to bring everyone that is interested in seeing all the coasters at a certain park and some looney antics must be going over well. My goal has always been to add some important info to this wonderful site, and along the way maybe self promote Big Mike a little. hehe Just in case anyone wants to check out an individual park so far, here they are: 3/15 - Storybook Land - New Jersey - Page 5 3/15 - Steel Pier - New Jersey - Page 6 3/22 - Adventurers - New York - Page 7 3/22 - Astroland - New York - Page 7 3/22 - Deno's - New York - Page 7 3/28 - Nascar Speed Park - Tennessee - Page 8 3/28 - Zuma's - Tennessee - Page 8 3/28 - Sir Goonys - Tennessee - Page 8 3/29 - Dollywood - Tennessee - Page 9 Now we add Six Flags over Georgia to the list. This was a wonderful day as I met a pair of couples from Theme Park Review. Big Mike just wants to go on record to say that Rich (CoasterPalooza) and Scott (Beemerboy) and thier wives are wonderful people. I loved the time we spent together and hope to do it again real soon. Hope you enjoy Six Flags over Georgia everybody: Peace, Big Mike The lift hill, but from a different angle this time. Have to switch things up so the readers won't get bored. Not a bad ride. OK, it was only fair that if I let Scott ride with his wife once in a while, I should let Rick too. Why does it look like Rich is always riding by himself? Thats right, Big Mike opted out early in the day. The train again. Coaster #568, Wile E. Coyote Canyon Blaster! Back to nature. Quick look at the train. Coaster #567, Batman the Ride. Think they knew Big Mike was taking pictures? Rich and Rick having fun anyway. Rick still couldn't ride with his wife yet. Big Mike wasn't feeling THAT generous yet Nice. Just a view of part of the fun. This part was the best. Once again, the lift hill. I guess I had to let Scott ride with his adorable wife once in a while. It was only about a half an hour into the day and this employee had shot his load already. Coaster #566, Superman - Ultimate Flight! The beer mug did not go with the Official Big Mike Road Show T-shirt as well as the Tweety bird hat did. The annual Big Mike wears a stupid hat portion of the report. This was a beer mug. Big Mike is now on Overtime getting paid time and a half. Big Mike is a workaholic for the masses. And working. Still working. Big Mike works hard to bring you all types of pictures of the coasters. Coaster #565, The Great American Scream Machine. I waited until no one was in my picture this time lol. I liked the reflection in the water. Different angle. A few more pictures. Yep! Coaster #564, Ninja! Hey now! Now Scott is looking for face time on The Big Mike Road Show too!!! For all the nature lovers out there. Surprise surprise, another lift hill. Glad Big Mike switched the groups early so he could ride with the hot babes! A layout of the track. Next, #563, The Georgia Scorcher! Hey, Rick is trying to get some face time on the Big Mike Road Show?? Rick was VERY happy after he rode. Lots of air. A LOT of air. Cool element. This was fun! No matter how many times I rode, I never got tired of the drop. Getting ready for the big drop which was awesome. Big Mike seems to really like taking pictures of lift hills. Big Mike LOVES when he can ride when there are no lines!! First coaster of the day and #562 for Big Mike and his favorite of the park, Goliath!!! It's time to check off another place on Big Mike's Road Show, Georgia!! My shirt was a big hit! Rick and Scott was now paired up with Rich. He he he After Big Mike had to do some rearranging, these were the new groups with Big Mike getting the hot babes. Big Mike brought along his beautiful...umm...well... he just brought along Rich (sfne2005). Scott (Beemerboy) brought along his beautiful wife Shannon! Rick (CoasterPalooza) brought along his beautiful wife Gyendolynne! We attended ACE's Spring Fling. How did they know my name was Big Mike for my name tag? Here is your 2008 price list for the park. This is the #1 park on Big Mike's list of most coasters at one park that he has not visited yet! 10 new credits!! The 10th stop on the Big Mike Road Show is Six Flags over Georgia!
Coaster Palooza Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 The pics are looking good Big Mike! I like the captions too.
Big Mike Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 Damn. Big Mike did not know there was a limit to attachments. On to part 2 of the Six Flags over Georgia portion of the Road Show! PS - just in case it was in doubt, Scott, Shannon, Rick, Gyendolynne, and Rich are awesome! Peace, Big Mike I ended the day with an interview. Reporter: Where is the next stop on The Big Mike Roadshow? Big Mike: Opening Day at Six Flags Great Adventure!! Trip report coming soon! Well now that I lost my two hot babes, I had to find two more. Big Mike is lucky to have such awesome friends. You guys are terrific! Thanks for a wonderful day!! Big Mike applauds "his" two coaster buddies today! Rick and Scott are lucky to have such awesome wives. The two power couples check off Georgia on The Official Big Mike Road Show T-shirt! Rich checks off Tennessee on The Big Mike Road Show T-shirt as he was with me in Dollywood! Did I forget to mention the huge storm that rolled in? Got all the credits though!!! No wonder why. Six Flags over Georgia's no bikini policy Sorry folks, this was as close as I got to a bikini picture on the stop. Once again, Thanks for being such awesome people and making this stop on the Road Show the best one yet! Big Mike figured out a way to get more Big Mike into the report. My new friends! Awesome couple! Shannon named her horse, so I named mine too. This is Sandy everybody. Rich not so happy to ride. Scott and Shannon happy to ride! Rick and Gyendolynne happy to ride! Big Mike and his friends. Scott relaxing now that we did not have to hear Rich force us to get all the credits first. Cool! More Big Mike exposure coming soon. Now that we got the credits out of the way, on to more fun rides. I wanted to get my moneys worth Rich must be on a diet. The longest line of the day. Time to eat at the buffet! Time for the last credit, #571, Mindbender. Rich is upset he does not have a Road Show or a Palooza on the site. Woo Hoo!! Big Mike joins in on Coaster Palooza 2008!! Check out his thread in the main forum too! Finally a water ride we could ride! Monster Plantation! Maybe the big boat ride instead. Foiled again. Decided to hit the raft riide. Guess not! Yeah! All fixed! They must have known the severity of the situation as they called some guys over to fix it quickly. Rick is giving this guy the business for getting stuck! "We don't have all the credits yet! Rich is going to go ballistic if I am stuck any longer!" Rick and Gyendolynne. I borrowed this picture since there are not enough pictures of Big Mike so far! Plus I could not let Rich go all day without a ride with Big Mike. I liked the air on this ride. How does Big Mike get so many pictures of empty trains? Coaster #570, The Georgia Cyclone! My 2nd favorite of the park. We hopped on the drop tower as we were walking by too. Big Mike taking a picture of the track which the general public can not see from walking.
Coaster Palooza Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I like how you always talk about yourself in the third person Big Mike! This update was awesome by the way. I need to finish my Dollywood update today or tomorrow.
Meteornotes Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 These various reports on the antics of Big Mike are cracking me up. Great job. Looking forward to the next installment. dt
cfc Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Thanks for the pics, Mike--I need to check out this park, too (never been). I went north last year--maybe I'll swing south this year.
