Big Mike Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 They are coming. Sadly, I have gone to so many parks that now I have what is termed in the biz as a backlog of trip reports! I am sad to tell you that Midway Park is still about 4 trip reports away. Hope you can wait and enjoy all the others first Peace, Big Mike
thepoint4life23 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I maybe there friday. Is it busy a busy day since its coaster Mania. How do i get access to coaster mania
vistaway Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I will be there Friday - 15 years since we started our annual pilgrimage to CoasterMania! This time we will have three generations riding (although my son can't get on much beyond the two kids coasters thanks to CPs restrictive height requirements). Can't wait to see the road show in person! Andy
THE ONE Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Big Mike I'll see you at Coastermania! Friday I will be wearing TPR Midwest Mania t-shirt. See you there.
Reality15 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hey, Big Mike, if you ever make it up to Michigan's Adventure way up here in Michigan, let me know! BTW, love the Road Show, I check back every day to see what's new. Can't escape your craziness!
Big Mike Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 Silver0x3 - I will be making that exact trip this weekend, since I live pretty close to NYC. I will tell you what I find for you. Thepointforlife23 - You need to be a member of a coaster club to get access to coastermania, if not, just enter at 10am with the rest of the crowd. Vistaway - 3 generations, how cool! Hope you have a better time crossing the border than I did lol. The One - I always look for TPR shirts, so I will be on the lookout for yours. As usual, I will be wearing The Official Big Mike Road Show 2008 T-Shirt, but may have the TPR Zipper Hoodie on for the 6am rides Peace, Big Mike
SFOGdude25 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Hey, Big Mike! I coming to CoasterMania as well! I'll be in a maroon ACE shirt. Quick heads up for everybody here. I will hopefully be posting a full trip report with photo and video coverage. To Cedar Point we go!!!
angryemobeaver Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Ill be at Coaster Mania! And so will my cousin gnarkiller (he doesnt get on much)
Big Mike Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Hey Friends!!!! The Big Mike Road Show 2008 continued it's Memorial Day Weekend trip with a stop at Darien Lake near Buffalo New York! The main objective, ride the new for 2008 coaster! I know they call it the Orange County Chopper Coaster, but there is no sign of that anywhere in the park, just The Moto Coaster! As a side note, I still needed the Brain Teaser coaster too! I hope everyone enjoys Peace, Big Mike PS - Cedar Point this Friday everyone! Time for The Big Mike Road Show 2008 to depart and head to Martin's Fantasy Island and Niagara Falls! Hope you enjoyed! Peace, Big Mike I just added this picture because Big Mike has not been in one of the last 6 pictures! I am just adding this picture because I like it What do you think is more of an attention grabber, his hair or The Official Big Mike Road Show 2008 T-Shirt? .... how many of them do you think are pregnant or under the influence?? Get them off the ride now! I want you to take a very good look at these kids riding.... I am jealous of these kids, but interested in the controls here. Brain Teaser. Add this one to the list of coasters I am not allowed to ride I noticed I tend to say Woo Hoo when I am riding a coaster! The drop. The lift. Predator! Mind Eraser! It erased from my mind to take a picture in front of the sign. It's a boomerang, so this will be your only picture! Boomerang! Viper! I still really like this ride! This is a new aspect of Big Mike's Trip Reports, eliminate bikinis, add coaster close ups. Bunny hops. The hard to get picture. 2nd hill. How about that drop? It deserves two lift hill shots! The lift hill. Still the best coaster of the park, Superman Ride of Steel! The Moto Coaster, credit #588 for Big Mike! Finally I got to ride just like these people did! Not until Big Mike gets to show you this EXCLUSIVE photo live from the launch pad!! Again they fix it and I am ready to ride again. Out to the platform, and NOTHING! "We are going to bring you back into the station now" A wasted hour waiting at opening, waiting in line to ride, I am next to ride and it breaks again. Maintenence fixs it and NO KIDDING, this girl hits that water bottle and it falls right on the emergency shut off switch!!! Ready to ride! Fine looking machinery! The Moto Coaster. Who else but Big Mike rides the sky rides and the ferris wheels to get these high shots for you? Here are some stats since I know some Big Mike readers love to read the stats! A pretty cool sign right when you enter the line. Have you seen any Orange County Chopper signs yet? This put an added meaning to Grand Opening, but it did finally open and Big Mike was there to ride it! The Moto Coaster!! (Even though I won the race, the coaster did not open for the 1st hour and I left the line with no hope in sight.) You can kiss first place goodbye little kid! Big Mike wins his first ever rope drop race!!! Everyone seemed to love the ESPN Race Cam last time, so even though it is heavy, I wore it again. I am getting really good at this rope drop racing! I admit half the crowd was heading to Superman, but I headed to the Moto Coaster. I was shocked and stoked that my good friend Bruno Lancetti from right here on TPR was on the cover of the park map! I miss Bruno!! Here is a park map. This used to be a Six Flags park, so you know it is pretty big. Here are the prices this year, unless you find someone selling extra school trip tickets out front for $15 like I did. Darien Lake in Upstate New York! The Big Mike Road Show 2008 continued, but had to try and avoid this tornado heading my way!
OldJJman Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Mike, The Orange County Choppers logo is at the top of the signs. (Notice how the OCC forms the motorcycle?) OCC logo
THE ONE Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I really enjoy reading your TR's , I'm can not wait Coaster Mania is going to be a blast. Keep up the great work Big Mike.
Big Mike Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Thanks Jeff, I did not even notice that! Reality15 - I lived 6 years in Michigan and usually visit once a year, so Michigans Adventure has possibilities! Go Wings!!!! Looks like it is going to be a great turnout at Coaster Mania this Friday!! I look forward to meeting everyone and getting a big group picture to put up on here Peace, Big Mike
downunder Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Looks like Brain Teaser is going to tease all us Behemoth / Ravine Flyer II trippers, maybe a sizeable bribe might do the trick? At Brain Teaser has a sign stating what the ride policy is, Little Titans at Mt O had no sign, and the ride op from hell doubling as a bouncer.
cfc Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Congratulations on finally snagging the Moto-Coaster, Mike. Maybe they should retheme it to Shakespeare and call it Comedy of Errors. "If this e-stop has offended, "Think but this and all is mended. "That you did but slumber here, "While this technician did appear." Actually, I'm ripping off A Midsummer Night's Dream there.
Hercules Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 The Orange County guys probably made that sign with their water pressure machine that they have.
IggyACE Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Add that to the list that Gage and Caitlyn has but you don't, I even got that one back in "99"! Craig---thought Moto Coaster was actually a real fun ride.
silver0x3 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Silver0x3 - I will be making that exact trip this weekend, since I live pretty close to NYC. I will tell you what I find for you. that would be very nice! I actually don't know if we hit your show... at 6/11 we are in SFGA, 6/12 we hit hershey, 6/13 on the road to King Island, 6/14 KI, 6/15 on the road to CP, 6/16 - 17 we're in CP and than 6/18 back to NYC so I think we'll miss the big mike road show. but still if you've any suggestion beside rollercoaster on this way, we're happy to know about it
bobafett Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I was wondering, being in that position on a coaster, does the restraint hurt your back in any way? I can't imagine it being comfortable. Still looks like a cool ride. As always I am enjoying the updates.
Big Mike Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Actually other than when it was closed on you, I did not notice it at all. Clementon and Morey Piers, I can't wait! Peace, Big Mike
Big Mike Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Sometime after I get back from the Mainland Europe Trip!! Can't wait! Peace, Big Mike
Big Mike Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Hey there good friends!!! The Big Mike Road Show kept on rolling through Upstate NY and made a stop at Martin's Fantasy Island by Niagara Falls! Being so close to the falls, I added them into this trip report for any Big Mike readers who have never seen them! I hope you enjoy my friends! Peace, Big Mike PS - Coaster Mania at Cedar Point this Friday! See you there This concludes the report with a night shot of the falls, usually the beginning of a sweet process called Hammer Time! Canada's Wonderland next! Peace, Big Mike Even the Burger King is over the top here. This Sky Wheel is new since my last visit. WWE's drop tower ride is at the base of the street. Clifton Hill is right next to the falls on the Canadian side. There is EVERY gimmick place in the world here, and quite fun to enjoy. Getting soaked for the readers was well worth it. Big Mike hops the fence to get a birds eye view of the falls for the Big Mike readers! The Canadian falls creates this big mist cloud, which rises up, and then dumps the water on you like it is raining! ... this bird decides to attack me for taking pictures!!! Must be some kind of Canadian law against picture taking. I was taking these super cool pictures of the birds in flight when.... Hey, it's Big Mike! Lots of falls pics, not many Big Mike pics. You can see Marineland's tower drop ride over the falls! I will get your credit next time! Who wants to get drenched? The Cave of the Winds Tour is even better, you get to stand under the falls on the Hurricane Deck! The Maid of the Mist is Big Mike approved! The Canadian Falls. The American Falls. There is no doubt the best views and best activities are both on the Canadian side. I can walk over to Canada with no problem at all. Drive a car, different story! This time I did not bring anybody, and there was no Hammer Time I brought an ex-wife named Leslie to the falls and it was Hammer Time! I brought a girl named Maryanne to the falls and it was Hammer Time! Here are some pictures of the falls and a little story too! I brought a girl named Jenn to the falls and it was Hammer Time! Big Mike appealing to the ladies of TPR with a nice flower shot. A quick 5 minute ride to Niagara Falls! When some park visitors started shooting up the place, it was time for Big Mike to hit the road! Root Beer Float too! Have to support the tiny parks. Yeah! Some fried dough for The Big Man! You can see Niagara Falls from the top of the ferris wheel! A picture of the rest of the park. People were coming off of this COMPLETELY drenched! They have a cool log flume just plopped down in the grass. Did you win or lose? Take a guess who I am riding with? Hot Babes, little kids, or by myself? Nice cars. Your typical Crazy Mouse. The Crazy Mouse! Credit #590 for Big Mike! A little glimpse at the rest of the track. Here is the proof on that statement. What goes up must come down. Another lift hill shot by Big Mike! The Silver Comet train. A view from up above. The Silver Comet! Credit #589 for Big Mike! A look at the park map! Here are the prices to MFI. The Big Mike Road Show 2008 makes a stop at Martin's Fantasy Island in New York!
Airtime&Gravity Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Looking at your photos of Darien Lake, along with other TRs, I think I caught the park on a bad day. It appears to be nicer than I remember, but maybe it just seemed bad after visiting SFGADV two days before. If I could go back to upstate New York/Ontario, I would give Darien Lake another chance, and I would make sure I didn't skip the carnival that turned out to be Martins Fantasy Island. lol
coastercrazed49 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Great Pictures Mike, it makes me miss Niagara Falls. It seems like Martins Fantasy Island never has a crowd. How were they when you were there? Great pictures Mike, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next.
Mechanic Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Take a guess who I am riding with? Hot Babes, little kids, or by myself? I guessed wrong. I thought it was for sure going to be hot babes. Very nice report as always Big Mike. Your reports really make me want to visit so many of these places that you're able to get away to. P.S. Although I understand why they're gone, I still miss the bikini pics.
