disneygurlz2s Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 What about "Drop Zone"... that was a movie title?? Eh, I will call them their old names anyway...just like I called "Cinergy Field" "Riverfront Stadium" until the day they imploded the place. Shari "I hate name changes" Shoufler
Coasterlvr_nc Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Howabout Grandson of Beast? You must have read the announcement wrong, they are going to name it great aunts second cousin twice removed's brothers former roommate of the beast. As for the names, I dont see whats wrong with poking fun of the names that obviously took 5 minutes to come up with. Its all in good fun.
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Haha... I cant help to think that if I worked for CF and wanted to rename these rides...the first I would change is Italian Job ---> Plumber or Pizza Maker. Sorry if I offended anybody.

God bless you and your sense of humor. That is hilarious. Who cares if people get offended, they need to learn to laugh at themselves...
Xxhershey818xX Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Amen to that. But for real. Everyone could see this coming. Its nothing to get to upset about. I mean does changing the name make the ride any diffrent?
KoasterKing Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 They did that down here in Va too. I'm like 1.5-2 hours from Kings Dominion and they did all that. Isn't Nickolodeon part of Paramounts? I mean they have the whole Nickolodeon Centeral, maybe like a deal or something with Paramount?
PKIVortex Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Now it seems that Drop Zone has been renamed Drop Tower. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=160
coastrfreak2000 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I was kinda hoping it would be 'Drop Deck'.
astroworldfan1 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 At 315 feet tall, DROP TOWER is the world’s tallest gyro drop. DROP ZONE spins riders on a 30-foot ring of 40 seats that encircles the drop tower to a height of more than 26 stories, and then drops guests in a 67 mph free-fall. They didn't even take the time to re-do the description! -Tatum
scruffy Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Any ideas on Congo Falls? Congo was a Paramount movie. Guess Amazon Falls could come back.
gnewton34 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I thought the name change to Congo Falls was pretty stupid anyway. I still always called it Amazon Falls. I hope they change it back. Most likely it will be called Water Deck.
SFGAm Shock Wave Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Flight Deck just lost its title for lamest name ever. Seriously, Drop Tower? They should have renamed Drop Zone as "Roto-Drop 1"
ginzo Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I can't wait to buy my Drop Tower t-shirt. This can't be real. I imagine this is just a placeholder until they figure out a proper Cedar Fairesque name.
Guest Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Drop Hawk......Force? They should have renamed Drop Zone as "Roto-Drop 1" I'm pretty sure that would have been an improvement on Drop Tower.
robbalvey Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 This can't be real. I imagine this is just a placeholder until they figure out a proper Cedar Fairesque name. This is what I am hoping too.... I mean, at this point they might as well just download a dozen or so RCT parks and steal names that kids made up for their parks....
Coasterlvr_nc Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 ^ yeah I can see it now "ZOMGaCOaStEr!!!!!!1!!! has broken down" Like Robb and many others have aid, i also hope these are placeholder names until they come up with something better. Because honestly.... drop tower?
Angry_Gumball Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Not to jinx us here in CA but I feel a Drop Tower coming on...I'd prefer Drop Deck.
canadianfreak Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Wow, these names suck! I can't wait to ride "Drop Tower" next season. Are CW's Top Gun, IJ, and Drop Zone ever getting the name change treatment? Time will tell I guess.
TheRapidsNerd Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 This is why I've never really cared for licensing/brand tie ins on rides. It just doesn't have the same gusto as SOME of the original names and themes for coasters/rides. Plus, when the contract is up, or there's a change or dispute, it's a mess. This may be sacraligious, but I'd like to see a move away from branding on rides, but that won't happen anytime soon. As far as these names go, it's the same thing we've all discussed before in other threads.
Zen Coaster Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Eughh. Reminds me of Dreamworld with choosing the title for their drop tower: 'Giant Drop'.
Hurricane Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Well... it could be themed to that Giant OIL Drop coming out the side of the building. But Dreamworld can get away with it because it IS the biggest in the world. And Dreamworld also has the"Log Ride".
PKIVortex Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I would have much preferred Gyro Drop if they had to make the name as generic as Drop Tower.
Zen Coaster Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Well... it could be themed to that Giant OIL Drop coming out the side of the building. ... yes, Daniel, I have made that connection! Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I'm not stupid: just saying that IMHO 'Giant Drop' still sounds too generic. Better than 'Drop Tower' though! And Dreamworld also has the"Log Ride". That's true. Returning to the purpose of the thread, I agree with everyone if you're going to have a generic theme of flight, falling, whatever, you can still come up with a good name without having a franchise to fall back on. Even hold a competition to see who can come up with the best name for each... like Beech Bend did for what became Kentucky Rumbler.

PKI Jizzman Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 http://www.pki.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=160 I can't believe they actually changed DROP ZONE.....to DROP TOWER. This is f*cking rediculous....other names are available...Hellivator is open! F*ck you Cedar Fair! At 315 feet tall, DROP TOWER is the world’s tallest gyro drop. DROP ZONE spins riders on a 30-foot ring of 40 seats that encircles the drop tower to a height of more than 26 stories, and then drops guests in a 67 mph free-fall. ......
