That looks really fun, I could imagine going around those curves at over 100mph , it also seems to offer a longer ride time than than most record breakers too.

The new renderings look awesome. It would be really interesting if the cars incorporated a drifting feature for the curving part of the track.

Why?

Race cars (especially F1, which is what this ride is modeled after) don't drift. Drifting is not an effective way to race, despite what you may see on the Fast and the Furious.

F1 cars have no need to drift, as the faster you go, the more downforce (and hence grip) increases. This is why F1 cars take curves at insane speeds and have no problems with grip. This is also why F1 drivers must be in excellent physical shape, because some turns (such as 130R at Suzuka and Eau Rouge at Spa) pull up to 5g's.

I'm pretty sure I have seen the first rendering from an old Arrow or Vekoma site a few years ago. There was an animation of the coaster as well.

To be quite honest I am almost positive that there was an article in an old (please don't hit me) issue of ACE news. That diagram of the "track" with the long straight and the S curves was in something I have read in the past. It has been some time ago like probably 10 years or so but I do remember seeing the exact same pic. If I can find my old issues I will do some searching.

^ Although I'm only 13, the second I saw those pictures I knew that I had seen them before awhile ago, but I cannot figure out from where!

... It couldn't have been 10 years ago, because then I would only be 3...

Just because a coaster company had a concept similar to what this is being described as does not mean that it is any more or less likely to be a reality.

^ Well I'm just saying that those are the EXACT pictures used for a previous concept; They're not S&S's. I have never seen the car concepts before, but I remember clearly seeing the picture of the track leading into the left banked turn.

Here is a picture of the masterplan

The pink line will be the layout of the Race coaster:

Nothing like the Vekoma concept. Me thinks someone just got confused and posted that when they heard about a coaster themed to racing (that wasn't TTD)

So it IS just an oval. Meh.

It's not THAT much faster than Kingda Ka... not even fast enough to really notice a difference in speed between the two. The only true advantage will be the force of the launch.

At least when TTD or KK get going, they do something besides race to a brake run.

If I'm in Germany, I'm sure I'll ride it, but it's not enough to get me to buy a plane ticket by itself.

Although the Ferrari rendering is what I'd most like to see happen, at this point I honestly just wanna see this become a success. Maybe then we'll get one themed to Indy or Nascar on this side of the pond.

^Locked or completely deleted? I knew I posted something there, I thought for a second I was losing my mind...

Of course you won't be able to tell the difference between the speed of this and Kingda Ka, but 2.5 seconds up to 134 is pretty darn intense. I think, for a change, it will just be nice to be cruising at that speed for a nice straight and long amount of time.

And the speed record is now taken away from SF and America...

^It was just locked at first, then deleted later. That's fine, but I think somewhere in the subject of this thread it should indicate that this is going to be the world's fastest roller coaster. As it is now, it's barely noticed.

Are you sure thats the coaster, does'nt look like one.

Whatever it is I will count it as a credit so do the enthusiasts who argue whether this is a roller coaster or not.

Slow down, it could be anything!

Welcome to the site BTW!

I'd say it's a coaster, although it doesn't look like it embodies the spirit of one.
