Hey everyone....

Ok, here's the deal of this thread. Since Elissa got pregnant I've put on a bunch of weight and I need to lose 30bs. She lost all her baby weight, now it's my turn.

Pretty straight forward, right?

I've always been really good about being able to lose weight, but I've always needed a reason or an incentive!

So here's where all of you come in. My goal here is to lose a pound a day for the next 30 days. Some people may say "Oh, well that's not healthy." All I can say is that idiot dude with the horrible movie ate McDonalds for 30 days and this has GOT to be more healthy than that, right?

Anyway, this thread will serve as blog of sorts for me to post on a daily basis how I'm doing and what I did that day to get me to lose the pound.

And hopefully, this may help many of you who have said you wanted to lose weight also.

So here I am today, Friday November 9th - 264lbs

The goal? - 234lbs by December 9th.

Let's do it! Wish me luck!

"In 30 days that readout will say something very differet!"

Yup that's my hairy feet!

That’s cool.

Drink milk when you’re hungry. (If you can)

If you hate drinking plain milk grab some frosted cheerios and have that for dinner.

Also take your multi vitamins and a power bar for when you work out, jogging, etc. You can and will start dropping fast after a couple weeks with out losing tons of energy.

It really does work, but moderate.

Good luck!

Now I just need to quite smoking. "grrr"

First of all i wish you all the best for you plans and think it is the right step.

I have to be a spoiler though, i really don't want to take the winds out of your sails, but please consider the following:

There are 3500 kcalories deficit needed to burn one pund of bodyfat. So losing 30lbs in 30days would require you to have a deficit of 3500 kcalories each day.

You do burn about 2300-2500 kcal. per day if you do sport or heavy work/walking around a lot, a bit more. But never 3500 calories.

So that means, that even on a null-diet you can't reach your goal. If you do LOTS of sport maybe. But that combined with a null diet would be really really unhealthy and about impossible. And it wouldn't last long, thats for certain.

Some are misleaded by the natural fluctuations in bodyweigth about the actual fat loss they can manage in a period of time. The Content of your Stomach, water content and so on are playing a factor here.

I advice you to take much smaller steps. Burning 500 Calories each day is much more a realistic goal. You may "only" lose a pound/week this way, but you do it constantly and that way you are not getting the infamous "jojo-effect". That makes 52 pounds per year with much less effort and pain than losing 30lbs in 30 days.

Still, all the best and good luck if you really wish to do it that way.

I'm guessing in the last hour, he hasn't lost too much weight.

Good luck Robb. Perhaps we should offer incentives, like when you reach 10 pounds, I'll post a picture of my butt. Would that work?

Matt, how about we get a lifesize picture of you fully clothed (like in the movie "Major League")? And then every day he doesn't lose one pound, we remove another piece of it to expose you in a thong? That should do it.

Good luck with your quest.

My B/f lost 5 stone (down from 18 to 13 stone) just by eating cans of tuna, a main meal and drinking water every day for a couple of months.

Don't over feed yourself on choc's and sweet stuff, MD's and your be fine.

Ride tons of coasters with high G's.

Myself: i'm 6ft tall and weight 12.5 stone, don't know how much that is in lbs.

Posted

^ 12.5 stone = 175 pounds

What ever happened to your "sex and water" diet?

What do you think I"m on now?

Seriously, though, the past 15 years of my life I've probably done this 3 or 4 times. I'm really good at losing weight when I need to, I just need a good reason to do it!

So I figured starting a thread where I had to post my progress every day was a perfect incentive! And if anything, it might also help a number of people here who said they were interested in doing the same thing.

Good Luck Robb...

My first bit of advice....dont drink that soda thats sitting in the background of that picture!!

I am sure you know the drill...I am currently dieting myself, trying the whole South Beach Diet...low carb yet not NO CARB. First few days are hardest, but so far it seems ok.

First off, good luck

Second, your goal might be a little high as 30 pounds in 30 days is a lot of weight in a little time. A better end point might be December 31 as your goal will be more reachable. Well actually, do not have an end point. Just do what you plan to do, and stop when you feel like you've lost enough weight.

Just do more of what you did when you looked like this and wanted to get healthy:

...and no, that does not mean quitting ACE

Good luck, dude! You can do it. It sucks, but I've been down that road too. I lost 55 lbs back in 2002 and lost 20 lbs this past summer. Lookin' forward to the updates!
