CP_RULES
I think they need to give Boss another chance when they go to SFStL to get their THBS and EK credits. Ive had some of my best rides ever on it within the last two years, and considering they like airtime, Boss is definitely delivering.
coaster05
I think posting your opinion on what other's opinion of where a ride ranks on said person's list may be one of the biggest wastes of keystrokes in internet history. So to help alleviate this problem I have done some extensive research into ALL the criteria Robb and Elissa use to rank their rides. So without further ado..... The ones they Personaly like the best are on the top of the list and the ones they Personaly don't enjoy are on the bottom. I hope this has helped with all future theories on where people ranked their rides.
robbalvey
I find it hard to believe that Robin Hood from SFH are in both of you guys's top 20. I really think that Robin Hood is just a bleh ride that doesn't compare to anything at all. Just utterly boring and fairly rough in comparison to other non-Intamin woodies. Robin Hood deserves to be ranked with the likes of Mean Streak in my opinion. Believe it pal. We're allowed to have an opinion, you know? --Robb "I really liked the ride! Do I really need to explain further?" Alvey
coasterdude5
I was surprised to see where Thunderhead was on your lists! But I haven't been on the Intamin or GG woodies so I guess that would explain it. I guess when you've ridden as many as you two have it gets hard to put them in a list like that. SharkTums
^It does! Basically for me there are my top 10 rides, then a whole lot of mediocre stuff, then my bottom 15-20. I really never got Thunderhead. The GCI guys and a lot of people here know my feelings on those rides. The rides are all really nice, totally smooth, rerideable and fun, but don't have enough airtime to keep me happy. For me Thunderhead meandered around way too much. I like most other GCI's better than that one!
cfc
^They also might have just caught the ride on a good day. For example I usually hear people say that Hurler at Kings Dominion is a rough ride and people generally don't rank it to high. Now me on the other hand, I didn't find the ride rough at all and I thought it was a great ride. I probably caught the ride on a "good" day. That is why I ranked it as my 5th favorite woodie. Hurler was great in its opening season, but gradually declined. It has improved a bit, thanks to KD retracking sections of it over the last few years (as they've done for Grizzly). Hurler still has more "bad" or "meh" days than "good" days, I think. But to each his own (I've always liked Grizzly myself, but a lot of people hate it). Purplepills
Ref. all the opinions about coasters up there, and whats good and bad. The whole point of the coaster poll is to take the averages and work out what was the most liked in general, thus removing the need to challenge other peoples opinions, or at least question someone enjoying a ride. Some people like one thing, some people like another, I really don't get why people seem to become offended when someone doesn't agree with them! robbalvey
Just for the benefit of those not able to go back a couple of pages... I think we addressed this earlier, but I'm sure it will be asked again so I'll post. The two are very very close...so different, but both nearly equal to my favorite coaster ride on Earth. I gave the slight edge to El Toro because I rode it this year, and did not ride Balder. What she said
verticalzero
Here are my top coasters for wood n steel. I have not been on as many coasters as most TPR readers so the list is quite short: Wood: Colossos - Heide Park (Perfect , please build more of them) Beast - KI (Night-time rides are something to remember) Megafobia - Oakwood (The only USA style woodie with proper in UK) Wild Mouse - BPB (Amazing and brutal) "Nash" at Blackpool (True Classic Twin) Racer - KI (Classic Twin) Mean Streak - CP (Power, height and 1st drop brakes) Robin Hood - WW (Fun ride with some ) Blue Streak - CP (Classic n smooth) Rollercoaster - BPB ( Classic, getting seatbelts and lapbars for 2008 season) SOB - KI (Not my type, but had to do it just to say I've rode it with the loop) Steel: MF - CP ( Power, Speed, Height and Lift Hill night-lights) Goliath - WW ( Amazing layout with tons of , wish a copy was built in England) Magnum - CP (Classic ride, lovely 1st drop with great views) Turbine - WB (Fantastic start and loop in the dark) Nemesis Inferno- TP (Great Inverter, my local ride) Vampire (Great swinning action) Mantis - CP ( Lovely stand-up with strong G's in loop) Raptor - CP ( Best Invertor I've been on) Dragon's Fury ( Spinning freely with good layout) Nemesis - AT (Good theming, but so-so ride) Revolution - B-J-Land (Unique enclosed ride, love the projections n lights) Ultimate - LWV (Fast, mental banking in 2nd half) Air - AT (Fun ride, but slow pacing and no Pretzel Loop) PMBO - BPB (Only the 1st drop is worth the ride) There are plenty of other coasters which I have been on in the UK and Europe but they don't make my list. IMO Boulder Dash is one of the most over-rated coasters ever. I've been on it many, many times and have yet to even experience any airtime on it at all. Perhaps I've only been on it on bad days, I don't know, but I think I've been up there about 10 different times, and it's always just been really "blah" to me. It ranks #44 on my list. --Robb
larrygator
I see where Robb is coming from. While I really like Boulder Dash after 5PM, it is a better than average ride early in the day. It is a 7 out of 10 mid-day, but becomes a 10 out of 10 after it heats up. Such inconsistency should affect it's ranking.

SharkTums
I totally disagree with the Boulderdash night time crap! We even went to OcBoulderFest one year to experience 'the amazing nighttime enthusiast rides'. Yeah, not impressed. And everyone said it was running its finest. King of Ka
This makes me wonder: do coasters really give "better" (faster) rides as the day goes on? Or does our perception just change? Has anybody really ever measured the speed of a ride at both morning and night?
sixflagsguy5
I'd have to say that coasters (especially wooden) have good days and bad days. I think that weather and temperature might have to do with it. The only cases that I've noticed this in are Viper at SFGAM, Gwazi, and Shivering Timbers. I know that I have 'good' and 'bad' days where I feel the slightest bit of airtime or when I don't feel anything at all. I also think that opinion has to do a lot with the coaster experience. Before I rode Manhattan Express or Shockwave at Kings Dominion I was expecting horrible and rough rides. Both of these rides turned out to not be that bad and I actually liked them a lot. There are some people who I'm good friends with that let the general opinion get to them and start complaining about the coaster before they even ride it. I try to ignore all of these factors before riding a coaster for the first time, so that I can give it an honest and unaffected review. Just as a side note I rode Boulder Dash at night a few times and I though it was awesome even though it was a little bit rough.
