Wow, for a family coaster it really had some zip to it. The ride and setting look great! I'm kind of hoping some parks closer to home look at these Intamin family launchers because with some decent theming they look to be a real winner.

Heck, can't that be said about a lot of Intamin designs (MegaLite, Plug n' Play, Zacspin...)? Parks around the world take note!

Juvelen has done a very good job this summer. Despite it's downtime it has given the park a record season, with over 700 000 guests already, excluding the Halloween event.

It should also be noted that the entire summer has been almost always sunny, but the CEO of the park has stated that Juvelen played a very big part in the record attendance as well.

Hopefully next summer will be just as good, since there have been a few rainy summers here in recent years.

Season is over!

The 9 open days for Halloween reached record attendance with 65.000 guests. All in all the park received 752.183 in 2013.

thats up with 21% since last year, and the previous record was in 2011 with 662.500 guests.

So, in other words, thank you Juvelen for making my rather boring coaster year totally awesome for a day, and for the record attendance to the park.

"Pedal boats and canoes are pulled ashore, and the lake is almost drained! Can you guess why?

Psst .. Keep an eye here on Facebook next week"

I really hope it's an expansion for the water park, and if it is, I really hope they chose a quality supplier for the new rides.

Djurs have announced that they will be building a new viking themed area of the park! Thor's Hammer will be integrated into the new area and they will also be opening a new viking ship ride on the lake. (From the quote in the article, this seems to be a pretty standard swinging ship style ride on a platform)

"The Vikings Are Coming!

There is already Pirateland, Mexicoland, Africaland, Waterland, Westernland, Summerland and Liliputland - and now a new area will be added to Djurs Sommerland.

Today, Djurs Sommerland can announce the new attraction for 2014. The park will expand with a new Vikingland area taking up 20,000 square meters.

The largest attraction in Vikingland will be Drageskibet (The Dragonship) which will be a 13 meter long vikingship in the middle of a 9000 square meter lake, decorate with carved dragon heads, viking sails and colourful shields.

- "An attraction like Drageskibet is a really fun experience that will give you a great amount of thrills. It's a really popular classic attraction in all the large theme parks abroad, and I'm sure it will also provide our guests with lots of joy and laughter. When Drageskibet simultaneously is placed on a lake in a large viking themed area, the experience is complete. I am sure that we will attract lots of new families with children to the park in 2014" says Henrik B. Nielsen, CEO of Djurs Sommerland.

The existing rollercoaster Thors Hammer will be integrated into the new Vikingland.

The new area will be ready for visitors when the park opens on the 10th of May 2014."

UPDATE: Djurs have now announced on their Facebook page that they will also be adding another new ride called The Viking Tower. From the description it sounds like a kiddie Heege tower ride.

While I think the whole Family Launcher idea is cool. I've noticed that the amount of "intense" rides being builtrecently has decreased.. Other than RMC, I've noticed that many manufacturers have moved more to the family market.

Anyone know when the worldwide ride intensity drought will end?

It's funny, because I have been thinking of them expanding the area around the bobsled coaster into a viking themed area for a a few years now.

The park will reveal everything tomorrow, hopefully there will be another smaller ride for the children, as well.

I have full faith in Djurs to theme this really well, and make it look awesome.

I have to confess that I would have preferred for a water park expansion to come before this one, but oh well, this will be totally awesome!

I wonder if the coaster will get a repaint as part of this, it starts to look a bit faded.

I've had the same thoughts _koppen, for several years! It's a great expansion for the park IMO, and of course Djurs will make this entire area very beautiful! They are becoming the Europa Park of Scandinavia (Scandinavia Park perhaps? )

Today they announced that they'll add another ride for the area next year. From what they said in the press announcement I'm pretty sure it's a Kid Power Tower like the ones they have in Legoland (And Tivoli aswell)

I don't know if they wanna repaint or even retheme Thors Hammer, but my guess is that they won't. They might expand the theming of the ride, to make it fit in with the entire area, but that might be it

While some parks may have moved to a family market in some senses, I think that the family coasters - especially in Europe - seem to be more intense. In the past/coming few years we've had this one a Djurs Sommerland, Orkanen at Farup Sommerland, Manta at SWSD, Dwervelwind at Toverland, Dollywood's 2014 coaster and even more all look great, but slightly intense for family coasters. Othwerise, Skyrush was built in 2012...but I do think another "coaster boom" is in order.

^^ It will be a standard size ship.

I think the reason the footer looks so big is that the ship is from HUSS, who have a "larger than average" footprint for their ship, thanks to the support being much less vertical than what you usually find on these attractions.

That hole looks mighty big.

Giggle

They say that happens when you follow Guy!

Alas, tis true. I have wrecked many a hole for other men to follow. But in my defense, I have left said owners of these aforementioned holes with a smile upon thine faces, sweat from thine brows, out of breath, and completely satisfied!
