Something new at Canada's Wonderland for 2008

Recommended Posts

Elvis was stationed in Germany - that settles it. It must be B&M.

Except B&M is in Switzerland. Thus, this is obviously a Gerstlaurer Maurer-Sohne, or Mack. Infact, it is 4D Waterhypercoaster Aquatraxxx from Mack. The Dippin Dots guy down the street from SFMM told me.

^interesting idea, that would certainly draw a crowd. Personally, I think we could all be wrong and it turn out to be some Morgan Hypercoaster at 150 feet. We can't tell anything from footers, because any company can use any style footer, or bolt configuration, depending on what is needed to properly support the ride.

I love Goliath at La Ronde, but I want a coaster of at least over 200ft tall in Canada and I believe that CW will have it. I think that an Intamin hypercoaster would make sense and be good for the quality of the coasters at the park.

Of course B&M is Swiss - I'm an

Does anyone other than find it humerous that parks announce when they are going to make an announcement? Think about that for a minute or don't I don't care I'm just sitting here thinking really odd thoughts as I wait for my body to get used to my new meds:)

The only reason I don't think it odd with amusement parks is that enthusiasts know that change is coming once footings and markings are seen.

Why don't the parks make the announcement right away? Probably becasue there are a lot of i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed.

Just gonna throw this out there;

Has anyone considered a Dive Machine? It would still be a hyper coaster if it topped 200 feet, and would be something Canada has never seen before. As far as we know, the Busch contract only extends to the US's borders and not North America. This could be Cedar Fair's way to experiment with the Dive Machine for when the Busch contract eventually expires. The only thing that works against this is that apparently there are footers spread out in a B&M Hyper Coaster design.

I was there about a month ago and it is quite a layout over between Sledgehammer and The Italian Job. You can see my construction pictures here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37830&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 just scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. They are also going to build it over a water feature which has currently been blocked off in sections. We actually saw a park official walking by with 2 construction supervisors (see the guys in the pictures) when we were in the queue for The Italian Job. We asked what it was and he just smiled and said "I really don't know..." YEAH RIGHT!

I'm definitely excited to see what it'll be (thanks for the pictures, by the way). I wish I still worked there, but I told a friend who still does where the construction is, and he said he'll go over there today and pester them about it on his break. I hope he doesn't get fired for it, haha.

Well either way, it's only 6 days until they announce it.

If that is true, then let's hope that just the height and length are similar. Canada's Wonderland needs a great coaster, and not just a similar Millennium Force. I hope something like a giga version of Expedition GeForce or Superman: Ride of Steel is on it's way to the park.

If they got something along the lines of EGF: The North American version, then Canada would have something to seriously be proud of besides......

....ummmm.....

....well, then they'd have something to really be proud of.

Well, with the whole 347 feet in the air thing on the job post... that doesn't necessarily mean the height of the coaster. It could be the height suspended above the coaster that they would need to be in order to get things in place (on a crane, etc.). Also, we can't be sure if the post is even for working on this project... it could actually just be ride maintenance in general and other mechanical supervisor things... as it clearly says. After all, I don't see it anywhere saying anything about supervising the construction of an entirely new ride.

Don't they hire a construction crew to take care of the construction of new rides anyways? I don't think anybody expects Wonderland staff to know how to build a new roller coaster.
