RIP Psyclone
I believe in a Sea World trip report, Robb stated that Journey to Atlantis is not a credit. However, it is listed on RCDB. So, credit? No credit?
ECZenith
"Credits" are all a matter of opinion. JTA has some coaster elements so I would count it, but not everyone feels the same way about it. Go with what you think, that'll work out best for you.
missingmusician
The Coasterfanatics.com counter counts it as a credit and that's basically what I go off of. They also count Dudley Do-Right's ripsaw falls as a credit now though...which is weird, to me.
Xtremecoaster
I count it as an credit due to that is has the regular gravity-powered style. And has coaster track!
jten11
Hell yea its a credit. It's a water ride with coaster elements, hence the term 'water coaster'. And plus its also credited on my CF coaster count..
thomas2
I count Atlantica Supersplash as a credit and this one is almost exactely the same.
CoasterFanatic
Everybody has different criteria on what is a credit and what is not. For me, it has to coaster up a hill on stored energy and run on rails (this would technically disqualify a lot of rides that other people consider coasters). Â For the CF ridelist, I like to try to include everthing and then let people make the decision for themselves. I changed Dudley to a coaster because the ride actually has two different moments where it drops and then coasts back up a "dry" hill on rails. That is one more than Dive to Atlantis which even RCDB classifies as a coaster.
Adrenaline_Rush
Id say if it has rails, supports, speed, and wheels, its a credit. I can see why Dudley Do Rights a credit, it has like 3 drops, and that pop of airtime in the "boom house."

de ja vu
I counted it as a credit since there some coaster elements to it

For me, it has to coaster up a hill on stored energy and run on rails (this would technically disqualify a lot of rides that other people consider coasters). Â So you would count the Splash Mountains? Â Last time I went on Splash Mountain at WDW, I noticed a coaster element in the dark where there was a large drop, a hill, then the splash. Â I guess I'd count it.
CoasterFanatic
So you would count the Splash Mountains? Â That is where it gets kind of weird. Splash Mountain definately has a "coaster" type element (the part where it drops and coasts uphill in the dark), but the ride is primarily a flume ride ... wait ... so is Dudley. Â I am so confused! Â I guess that my basis for Dudley is Dive to Atlantis and the fact that it is manufactured by Mack (who also made all the Atlantis rides and Dudley). I would be VERY interested to see what that Splash Mountain drop really looks like.
CoasterCrazy88
IMO, JTA is most definitely a credit. Splash Mountain on the other hand, is not. Journey is a water coaster, but Splash is a log flume.
Drop-Out
Splash Mountain has no coaster track, it is just a dry ramp with slots for the side wheels to go in. I say Journey to Atlantis at all three parks are credits.
Gav
IMO its whatever your first impression of the ride is and what the ride is mostly about, not the technical features (eg whether has wheels, track and gravity). So stuff like splash mountain I wouldn't count all all because its not like you get off and think "wow what a fun coaster" Its got a section like a roller coaster, but that doesn't make the ride an actual coaster. Something I always think of as a good rule of thumb is that a member of the GP would have to recognise the ride as a roller coaster for it to be a "credit". Â Oh, as for the topic, all the versions of the journey to Atlantis rides seem like coasters more than anything else.
TPDave
Woah, this thread's been here a day and no-ones mentioned Jeff Johnson? Â As for weather it's a credit or not, I don't mind. Either way it's a fun ride.
willski
Well, the model name is "Water Coaster", so I'd say that it counts. Also, it has road, guide, and upstop wheels, like almost every modern coaster (log rides do not have that).
knottslover77
I belive it's a credit, while Splash and Dudley are not. Â --Jay

holyblakbelt
I would count Journey to Atlantis in Orlando a credit knowing that part of the ride is coaster. I'd go back to Seaworld to ride it again (and ride Kraken).
Axman
Orlando and San Diego's are credits, but I don't think that San Antonio's has enough coaster track to make it anything more than a glorified "chute the chutes". Â BTW, Splash and Dudley's are definetly LOG FLUMES, not coasters, and therefore, not credits.
FlyingScooter
While we're talking credits: Â Ted, do you consider Devil's Den a credit? ( i always did, based on this: It has a powered lift, it has one drop, it runs on gravity and it freewheels on a steel track.)
CoasterFanatic
^ For some reason, I have trouble counting those Pretzel Gravity Dark-Rides. Â Long story but there is really nothing coaster-like about the track at all. It is almost like a guided chariot.

Coaster Palooza
^Sounds like you might go down a couple of coasters in your coaster count???
