gotdane Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I didn't realize MOA was getting a Eurofighter! That's awesome! This little coaster looks kick*ss, too. This just adds to the list of why I should go visit my family up there...Renegade and this!
LiquidForce Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Looks like the splat o sphere is going up tonight!
Golfie Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 ^ I agree, even though the Camp Snoopy theme was dropped a few years ago. I am partially mad that MOA decided to go with Nickelodeon (because the shows have gone way down hill since when I watched it regularly). Oh well, as long as we get some new cool rides, I guess I'm fine with it.
steel Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Hey, better Nickelodeon than Disney. But then we could retheme Ghost Blasters to Hannah Montana. Now that would be terrifying. And fantastic. Where else could you shoot Miley Cyrus and get away with it? Maybe that's not such a bad idea after all... Really, though, I pretty much agree with astroworldfan1. It's not that I don't like Nick theming, it's that Snoopy is WAY better.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 WOW, they are really cramming a lot of stuff into that helix. I didnt realize that the Splat-O-Sphere was going to be so close to the coaster track!
gotdane Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 ^Seriously! According to the park's main site, Splat-O-Sphere is a "spring tower"...what does that mean? Is it a double shot? Or what?
jamesdillaman Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 ^ It looks like an S&S Double shot, if you ask me. -James Dillaman
gotdane Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 If it's a Double Shot, I hope it's operated like the one at Indiana Beach. That was one of the craziest rides at that park and SO much fun! Granted, this won't have the location the Indiana Beach one does (right on the water), but it should be cool rocketing towards the ceiling and the appearance of falling back down on coaster track.
palmerleeberry Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Great Photos of the this park. I got This may be a park worth my visit despite the name that is often related to kids. That coaster looks amazing. One last thing, the Mighty Axe: I wouldn't mind to ride that since Six Flags America got rid of theirs (and didn't bother to replace it with something else)
stealth2006 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Looks like splat-osphere is a Fabbri towers, similar to Detonator at Thorpe Park! This park looks great, shopping and a park all in one day= The sex !
Sticky Nicky Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 It is a Moser drop tower. But this is really a trip report thread. I don't mean to be mean, but the thread for this expansion is this one: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37573&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 If you have comments about the actual report, you can post here, but if it is an overall question about the park or new rides, they really belong in the thread above. Great Photos by the way Liquid Force. Thanks.
WildStangAlex Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 AWESOME! It is amazing the kind of design it takes to make rides like the eurofighter fit into such small spaces!
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 ^Seriously! According to the park's main site, Splat-O-Sphere is a "spring tower"...what does that mean? Is it a double shot? Or what? Think more like a roto drop tower It is a Moser drop tower. Thanks. Nick, if people have a thought or question about something that they saw in a picture in the TR, how is that not related to the report itself? They are not going to go over to the other thread and post a question about a pic that they saw here in this thread. Just sayin...
Golfie Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Woah! Hey... maybe they're covering all four sides of the tower with those panels to hide the inside mechanism of the ride? If that's the case, it might be a few more days before the ride is up. However, if they're only doing it on that one side, will a car still be able to travel on it?
FitchCoaster Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Hmm, I'm not sure about the combination of Nickelodeon and all of the trees. Maybe it's just me, but the abundant number of trees and Nickelodeon don't really match. The new additions are looking awesome! They are really cramming everything they can into these small spaces. Hopefully I can get my parents to go on a family trip out to Mall of America.
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Hey, I just went back and read the early part of this thread. You guys who started this thing have really put a lot of time and work and pictures into this. You have a good history here with the press releases and webcam shots. Great job at historically documenting the changes. Since Spongebob and Avatar cams are down (again) I give you the exciting color change happening on Jimmy Neutron's Atomic Collider. Yeah, somebody got a great deal on blue paint for this park.
LiquidForce Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 It was a trip...a 10 minute drive to the mall! lol
LiquidForce Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I can't wait to see them paint the ripsaw orange! Well I'm guessing its going to be orange since its name is going to be Orange Streak...
Sticky Nicky Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Splat-O-Sphere is up. You can see about half the tower length wise from the overwiew webcam. It is not very tall. I hope it will still give a kick-ass ride though. look by the camp bus.
Vffreak07 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 *For the halfpipe webcam* Is that how tall its gonna be? Ehh I sure hope not. . .
ScubaSteve442 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 It is rather underwhelming at first glance. Is this a drop, shot, or combo tower? I hope it's similar to the one at IB.
dr.gumbo Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 ^A double shot (or whatever type it is but I'm sure its a double shot) always look small and tame but the ejector air-time on them from what I heard is of an epic scale.
