Have got time for only one trip this summer. Going in mid July. Me, wife two kids, 12 and 11. Where should we go....Holiday World or Six Flags over Georgia. I've been to both, but kids have not been to SFoG.

Do we go with the family friendly Holiday World with it's awesome water park, or to SFoG, which has nice rides but employees with a "could care less" attitude"?

I also would usually be very biased toward HW, but in this case, since your kids have been to HW before, and they are 11 and 12, I'd say take 'em to SFOG this time.

Though nothing is nearly comparable quality-wise to HW, you do have more options close by SFOG.

- More rides/attractions to choose from at SFOG, (I'm personally thinking Goliath, Mindbender, and Monster Plantation esp.)

- Though it's a separate admission you do have "Whitewater" nearby.

- If you're going to be there several days you have the Georgia Aquarium, Braves Baseball, as well as, tons of other sightseeing ideas.

- Restaurants, (and civilization in general)...one of my favorites is "The Varsity" a definite Atlanta-favorite too.

...But the one big negative that still remains about SFOG is that it will never, ever be Holiday World!

I am a SFOG local, and as much as it hurts me to say this, I have to go with holiday world. I absolutly love SFOG, but Holiday World in my oppinion is a much more fun park. If you are into woodies, then I say definatly Holiday World, but if you are more into steel, then mabey SFOG is the way to go.

Assuming your kids are over 54", I'd say SFOG; but it's a matter of what your kids want to ride. If they're more into thrill rides, SFOG is the way to go. If they want just a waterpark and a few good woodies, head up to HW again. If I were a tween again though, I'd probably want to go to SFOG. Besides having more rides, there's also lots of other stuff in the area to do; World of Coke, The Underground, Atlanta sightseeing in general. Plus you may actually be surprised by the attitudes of employees at SF this year if they keep along the path they've been going so far this year.

Last time I went to SFoG, I just kept thinking to myself what a great park this would be if they would just "sweat the details", as it really is a nice looking park...it's just the little things....things that really stand out compared with Disney.

The I'm bored out of my mind attitude by the employees was a bit of a turn-off....but I'm guessing that's what you get when you hire seasonal employees...but I shouldn't be that way....management is ultimately to blame.

We've been to Atlanta many times and have done all the touristy things.

After Six Flags took over WhiteWater, this park seemed to go downhill a bit, but last time we were there, things seemed to be much better.

We're hoping to escape the heat and humidity of the Gulf Coast by heading north....maybe we should just head on up to Knoebels and Indiana Beach...Love these two parks.

I'd go with SFOG. Holiday World is great and all, but I personally think it's a little overrated. There's by far not enough to keep my occupied for an entire day in the amusement park, and the water park is always way too crowded when I go there.

Plus, I know when I was 11 or 12, I would have rather gone to a place like SFOG because of it's big thrills and larger selection. I love SFOG and it's definitely one of the nicer parks I've been to. I've never really had anything to complain about. Plus, I could easily spend an entire day there.

I think you'll have that just about anywhere except a handful of parks, honestly.

We were really happy with the service/employees at our last visit to SFoG. They were running the coasters really well, plus the Deja Vu was actually quite awesome with the whole "Raise your hand and swear that you will not pull down on the OTSR when you first sit in your seat." While I have never been to Holiday World, I would probably choose SFoG simply because it is much closer to Pensecola than HW is. Plus, next to SFGam, its my favorite SF park I have been to so far.

I Love HW but i also live 15 min from sfog...

If your kids wanna thrill and are over 54", go to sfog

if not over 54", just no BnM for em

Well with the price of gas, I'd say go to whichever is closer!!!

In all seriousness. HW is a much better value than any Six Flags park, but your kids, especially having already done HW, would probably like SFOG much, MUCH better. Guy's advice is the best, if you have the ability and moolah to do either one, ask your kids, they're old enough to make their own decision.

I would say HW, it's cheaper to get in, free parking, and free drinks. If . your going in July you might appreciate the free drinks " Gatorade" plus if you have the time Louisville is only 1 hour away and there's SFKK and the Louisville Zoo, we have a baby Elephant now, he's 3 months old. Whichever you choose I hope it's a great vacation for you and your family.

I see a lot of people rave about SFOG but when I look at the stats and the height and elements of the coasters, it seems like a kinda lame park. GOLIATH is the first coaster that I have seen there that might interest me. I dont see a really good up to date woodie there and I dont see a mega steel coaster either except GOLIATH. It kinda reminds me of ASTROWORLD. Holiday World seems to be a nicer park with 3 nicer coasters. SIX FLAGS parks are too cloned to me.

^ because we all know the stats are what make the coasters

I say SFOG as well. Of course, the height of the children is a good point to look at. As long as you don't go on a Saturday SFOG should be ok. The new World of Coke opens tomorrow and its gonna be amazing. You could do SFOG one day and then the World of Coke and GA Aquarium the next.

I did exactly that (old WOC though) plus the zoo(BABY PANDAS!!!) and CNN tour with my family last month. Great times were had by all. If you do more than the Aquarium and WOC, get an Atlanta City Pass. And, if by chance you could throw in D'wood, don't forget Lake Winnie on the way.

Well, on paper, SFoG is the better park, Voyage or not. However, the summer heat in Atlanta would be a huge factor for me if I was deciding which trip to take.

SFoG will be crowded in July (not packed to the gills, but still crowded), which, when combined with 100 degree heat, high humidity, and smog, can make it a really not fun day. For me, it gets to the point where a 30 minute wait is the most I can bear, especially since a few lines aren't covered (Goliath right in front of the station, S:UF).

Holiday World has the free water park and free drinks to help you combat the summer heat, even if it is only 85 out. For that reason, I would pick Holiday World, but it really depends on what your kids want/how tall they are.

The coasters at Holiday World are one thing. They also have an awesome, awesome water park, cheap food prices (and GOOD food), free sodas, free sunscreen, free parking and my goodness, a funnel cake for $2.50, wtf.

SFOG is one of the better SF parks, so I certainly wouldn't discourage that visit either.

The new World of Coke opens tomorrow and its gonna be amazing.

We went to the old World of Coke...were not really impressed....we paid money to look at advertising....we did not drink enough free Coke to make it worthwhile.

My kids aren't really into coasters yet...but mom and dad are...and dad want's him some Voyage.
