Erik Johnson
I have not been to BGA since October, so I figured it was time to return so I could look at the newly repainted Montu (yeah I am a nerd). Ok, onto pictures, in which I will post in two different batches. Have you ever seen these guys before? Lets go over here. Montu through the trees. "Hey Wes!, How is it going?" Vultures picking off the reamains of Python. Do you ever feed this thing Wally? While the trim before the batwing was turned off, this was turned on. Its Montu. The queue area also recieved some touch up. The new Busch team members drinking area. Just like Sheikra, the new Montu ones falls in the same "bad Tshirt artwork" category I really think Busch needs to find someone else to design coaster shirts. Aboyt 99.825% of the items for sale were not Montu related. But you can always spend your money in the gift shop. Yep, no more onride Montu pictures. They closed up the on-ride photo booth. Side loop through the trees. "We are ready to experience the terror of Montu!" Here is the original style. The third train looks a bit different than the other two. Vertical Loop with new paint. See.....new paint. Hello Montu....with new paint. Old building, "Colony House" through the trees. They also ripped out half of the Congo. They have ripped out the old ticket machines. Check out the new ticket/scanning machine. These work a lot better than the old ones. We saw this last June at Busch Gardens Europe in Virginia. I think it just re-opened last week. Montu! With new paint. On my way to preferred parking. Yeah! Montu has re-opened. Just like Disneyland, there is a theme park smack dab in the middle of the city. You sure there is a theme park less than a mile from here? If you are bored, go to RCDB and look up Six Gun Territory. This is where it used to be. One of the world's greatest foods. Yes, it has its own entry in the new TPR dictionary.

Xtreme-me
That has to be one of the most amazing re-painting jobs Ive ever seen before! I love the wheel covers on that ride too, both the new and old ones.
Slacking
Nice Pics! Â You would think that for a park I live across the street from, I would visit more often. Â Haven't ridden Montu since it reopened, but have driven past it a few times, I am super impressed by the paint job. Both Montu and Kumba are looking fantastic these days. Â I've seen both the giraffe (maybe I've only seen the giraffe costume backstage while being fitted for Howl-O-Scream, not sure) and koala characters before. But, I have never seen the koala as a pirate, I've only seen him in outback-type clothing. I believe there is also a female hippo character (once again, could be completely wrong on this). Jayjay719
Montu looks amazing! Montu is by far my favorite invert. But I can't wait until I ride Alpie this summer. Great Pictures! I love how Busch paints there rides every few years....unlike Six Flags. I really love the giraffe picture!
cprocks22
Wow Montu looks amazing, it didnt think it looked bad when i was there a year ago. I miss Bush Gardens

Erik Johnson
Ok, I need to post the rest of them....here they are: Montu's new paint job at night. No more flashing light for pictures means that Montu's tunnel at night is super dark. Again, lot of walls everywhere. The Congo area is changed forever. Must get food. Everyone was smart enough to stay out of the water's way. Yeah, its a lot of fun. This could be the day I rode these trains for the last time. Sheikra......Mmmmmmmm. The Stanley Falls Flume ride is cover with a lot of walls for its annual rehab. I hope its digging a foundation for a future Intamin drop tower. This view is just plain weird. This occured after I rode....but, 2 trains with stacking equals pathetic coaster crew. A super rare photo of the intense final helix. More Kumba. Kumba through the trees. Its ok, it still is a good ride. See what I mean? But its starting to already get some of that familiar crap on it. Kumba received a new paint job last year. Yes, Busch has the controlling interest in Corona. I guess Busch closed these water jets because it was pretty cool out today. Congo River Rapids. This is what it looks like the other direction. Now this is just plain weird. Awww....You can't see the White Tigers anymore. Yep, there is a lot of dirt. Poor white tiger area.... Hey, maybe we can get a peek. See what I mean? Lots of walls everywhere. Oh yeah, there is a lot of stuff going on around the Congo area. The trims are still off during the first half of Cheetah Chase. It has been years since I have seen Scorpion with a line like this. I rode it much later in the day.
bulldogmom
Beautiful pics. Nothing more photogenic than a sunny Florida sky, palm trees, and a freshly-painted coaster. Loved the captions, especially the one about Python. Beautiful Kumba shots too- especially the one through the trees. That's coaster pinup material. Good close-up of the dirt on Kumba (please don't come to my house and take pictures). You're right- those T-shirts are awful. Looks like one of those wannabe Flashdancer torn sweatshirts I had circa 1983

Homer
Montu looks sexy again, however no on-ride photos bugs me. Bravo Busch, now do what I've been asking for like the past 3 years... RETRACK GWAZI! Â As for those weirdo mascot thingies, I've seen them a few times before over the years. Genericized mascots Busch must have made up before they decide to toss in Elmo and Co. Â As for that Scorpion picture. Erik, you should have came to the park on December 27th, 2006. It was organized chaos. That queue house was like, 3/4 full! Also, other infamous moments where I could rant on about that day was the congested pathways, even some stupid mom changed her baby in the middle of a congested pathway... Â Great update, Erik. You reminded me to stay away from Busch for another few months.
Sue
Great pictures, Erik! I read somewhere that they were also doing "queue adjustments" at Montu. Did they change anything with the queue line, or did they just touch it up?

cobra_roll06
wow....Montu looks great! Even better than when it first opened. Really makes it stand out from the other coasters at the park.
Slacking
For the last year plus, I have avoided riding Gwazi, I hate hassling with the short seat belts, plus the loading is so slow and painful. Â BUT, I have now ridden it twice in the last two months, and enjoyed riding it much more than I remembered, I think its a fun woodie. I love GCI's twisted creations, but even then, Gwazi may be my least favorite coaster of theirs I have ridden. It doesn't need to be retracked, but I could definitely agree with new trains (hasn't that been rumored forever?)
KrakenKing
I went there on Valentines day...  One train Operation on Montu and Kumba... the line for Kumba got to about 40min and they still didn't add another train.  Scorpion's line did get about that length as well.  Great Photo:TR though  Montu looks sexy again, however no on-ride photos bugs me. Bravo Busch, now do what I've been asking for like the past 3 years... RETRACK GWAZI!  Sadly, both sides were just recently retracked this past summer Lion is much smoother than Tiger though. Golfie
Ooh! I hope they'll be putting those new wheel covers on all trains eventually - when I was there last spring, the old ones were all faded and gross. Sad to see Python gone... I just rode it last year! shesaidboom
I enjoyed this post because of the mass amounts of Montu. Thank you
SharkTums
Great pics Erik! Â I can't believe how busy the park was though! (Or how bad the operations were!) Â Seriously, I don't understand how parks can just let coasters rot away with no paint when they look so amazing with a fresh coat. Good for Busch, their coasters all look awesome now! larrygator
Erik - I have been to Six Gun Territory. I can't say I remember it well since I was only 5 years old in 1972. On the famillies first trip to Florida in addition to DisneyWorld we went to Six Gun Territory, Busch Gardens (pre-rides) and the Orange Tower is Clearmont - what a bunch of carpetbaggers.
