TheBannedKid
I walked through New York street today. I went on a walk and walked around the rubble. I got to what seemed like a dead end but there was a narrow sidewalk by the fence that led into the area. A security guard spotted me and helped me to the other side. It was pretty eerie to see cars and props mangled all over the place, but fun to have the chance to walk through.

alicia_ruby
This was a very sad day for me. I had to work an event at Paramount Studios and on the way I saw the fire. I must have cried for hours. Universal is my home away from home. Some great sets were burned. I'll put up my pictures later.
Destination
I miss King Kong. He was so cool. But it's like weird how it doesn't even seem real. Like it's a dream or something that this happened.

typo86
Interesting...I thought it was a joke but this seems to be in the works. It's suppose to replace Backdraft at USH... UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Oct. 20 -- "Transformers," the electrifying blockbuster celebrated for its multi-generational appeal, inventive storyline, spectacular action sequences and special effects, will now be developed as a new theme park mega-attraction in a partnershipbetween Universal Parks & Resorts, Hasbro, Inc. and DreamWorks Pictures. The attraction will fuse 3D-HD media, mega special effects and stunning robotics with a ride system that will transform perceptions of theme park experiences. The rides are scheduled to make their debuts in early 2011, first at Universal Studios Singapore and then at Universal Studios Hollywood. In "Transformers," Earth's humans are caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between the friendly Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations. Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO, Universal Parks & Resorts, said: "'Transformers' will be a jewel in our collection of world-class rides based on great movies. We're thrilled to be collaborating with Hasbro, DreamWorks, director Michael Bay and the film's executive producer, Steven Spielberg, who has been responsible for so many of our signature rides and attractions." Steven Spielberg serves as creative consultant to Universal Parks & Resorts and has worked closely with the company in the creation of some of the world's most innovative theme park attractions. Those attractions include Jurassic Park-the Ride, a featured attraction at UP&R parks in Orlando, Hollywood and Japan, the E.T. Adventure at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Japan, and the "War of the Worlds" sets at Universal Studios Hollywood. Larry Kurzweil, President and Chief Operating Officer, Universal Studios Hollywood, said "'Transformers' represents a perfect match for our theme park: an exhilarating blockbuster with a great story, clever humor, non-stop action and flawless special effects. It has all the elements necessary to become one of the world's most exciting theme park rides and a centerpiece attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A." "We are thrilled to be working with Universal Parks & Resorts and DreamWorks to create this 'Transformers' attraction because we believe it will deliver an ultimate one of a kind immersive 'Transformers' experience for our fans around the world!" said Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro, Inc. Tan Hee Teck, Chief Executive Officer of Resorts World at Sentosa, the mega resort that is home to Universal Studios Singapore, said: "It is great that Asia will be the launch pad for the first Transformers attraction. Transformers was introduced in the United States in 1983 but traces its roots to Asia. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron are familiar names to Asian audiences, who grew up with the robot toys and love the movie. When Transformers opens in Universal Studios Singapore in 2010, it will be the first of its kind in the world. We may see a surge of Transformers mania. Director Michael Bay and Executive Producer Steve Spielberg presented "Transformers" in 2007. "Transformers" broke box office records on its way to gathering worldwide gross revenues of over $706 million -- the highest non-sequel gross of any movie in 2007 -- and three Academy Award nominations. The sequel, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures in the U.S. on June 26, 2009. "Transformers" is a Paramount release of a DreamWorks Pictures, Paramount Pictures presentation, in association with Hasbro, of a di Bonaventura Pictures production. Produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Ian Bryce. Executive producers, Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, Brian Goldner, Mark Vahradian. Co-producers, Allegra Clegg, Ken Bates. Directed by Michael Bay. Screenplay, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci. Story, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, John Rogers. Wes
Are those ride vehicles in the concept art? Holy shit, is this the Spiderman themed to Transformers?
coasterbadboy
^ I thought so at first, but they aren't wearing 3-D glasses in the art. The article DOES mention high def 3-D. Maybe an artist oversight? Transformers + Spiderman Ride Technology =
jarmor
when I first read it I was think robo coaster but then saw the concept and I see this as being a spiderman spin off with transformers... Bout time for you hollywood!
Top Thrill Dragster
It sounds very interesting, but Hollywood will probably end up with the scaled back version of this ride. Just as we did with Mummy.
UberBeavis
It sounds very interesting, but Hollywood will probably end up with the scaled back version of this ride. Just as we did with Mummy. It's the same ride as going into Singapore - nothing scaled back about it. But better say goodbye to Backdraft and the Special Effects Stages before Labor Day 2009. coasterdude5
Awesome! I was hoping this was gonna be a robo-coaster but it still seems cool.
Homer
Wow, this looks jaw droppingly awesome. I doubt it will make its way to Florida since we already have Spiderman, but it might motivate me to go to SoCal just to ride it.
sam06pr
WOW!!! this will be an awesome ride...I was hoping for some other vehicle type of ride, so we can get one here in Orlando. Oh well I love the whole idea of this ride, I will def want to visit this park
Jew
Optimus Prime better tell us to get out of way of fire trucks (because they're not going to the movies) or I will be severely disappointed.
haiderodes
^ Haha. I know right? But seriously, even though its a few years away, I'm excited about this new addition as its been a long time since Universal has gotten something this big. I wonder if they will be rebuilding those soundstages from scratch.
montezooma
2011? 2011? it is only 2008, why are they announcing a ride three years in advance? Boy this is going to be a LONG thread if we have three years to speculate what it is going to be. All I can say is it better be something good...no, GREAT... if they are going to keep us in anticipation for three years! 2011? By the time it is open I will have to do an update on the announcement in Shane's Amusement Attic
RIP Psyclone
^I agree, Shane. A nice dark ride is just what the park needs, though, after the loss of E.T.

Wes
Everest was announced in 03 and opened in 06. This is probably a massive project in terms of scale and needs a long lead time.
sixflagsjunkie88
I just became the happiest little Transformers nerd on the face of the planet! YAY! If they DARE screw this up, I will unleash 'The Thirteen' on their arses so they NEVER ruin an AMAZING MOVIE AGAIN! If Shia LeBiotch has his voice in it=failure! ECZenith
I know this is a little vague but the announcement states: "When Transformers opens in Universal Studios Singapore in 2010, it will be the first of its kind in the world. We may see a surge of Transformers mania" I wouldn't be surprised if this ride DOES NOT use the same ride system Spiderman and Darkastle use. The announcement says HD 3D effects will be part of the ride but that doesn't mean Kuka providing some kind of ride system is out of the question... With Kuka and Universal teaming up for the Potter ride in Orlando, I'd say maybe there's still some kind of chance it will use robocoaster technology. What an opportunity to incorporate robotic ride technology!
Jew
"First of its kind in the world" could be a reference to any number of things on the ride. Spiderman uses film (don't know what Darkastle uses), so simply using digital projection can be the first they are talking about...we will see in 2010. ahecht
But better say goodbye to Backdraft and the Special Effects Stages before Labor Day 2009. Honestly, that's a shame. In a park with fairly low capacity, Backdraft and the Special Effects shows were huge people eaters (since they can each have three shows going at one). Plus, in a rather shade-less park in Southern California, these were two of the only large air-conditioned shows (the only ones left are Shrek and T2:3D). "When Transformers opens in Universal Studios Singapore in 2010, it will be the first of its kind in the world. We may see a surge of Transformers mania" All that means to me is that it will be the first Transformers ride in the world.
