Johnny Upsidedown Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 New photos to look at. Doug over at http://www.pointpixels.com has posted up another big update of 80 more photos of the construction site. Here are the photos http://www.pointpixels.com/4images/categories.php?cat_id=360
methylene Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 There's elements already constructed that don't seem to jive with screamscape's artistic rendering. Matt
coasterdude5 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 ^^^^ I was wondering about that, too. Maybe some theming?
jarmor Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 ^ What's with that really pointless flat part??? your talking about the whole coaster right...lol Jarvis "J/K" Morant!
dandaman Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Anyone know what this might be? Not being on the forums for a week and a half has officially gotten me lost in this thread. Just one question about it all, though... where'd that model come from? Is that the Screamscape artist rendering talked about... somewhere? // Being in WDW for so long sometimes has its drawbacks
Twister II Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I'm wondering, if it is going to have a mid-course acceleration, will the train stop, or slow down before getting launched?
robbalvey Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Yay! New Theme Park Review update!!!! http://www.themeparkreview.com/cedarpoint2007/cedarpoint2007.htm Again, thanks to the guys at: http://www.pointxtreme.com/ Please be SURE to check out their update too as they have EVEN MORE photos!!!!! So, to me it looks like...... - Couple of really cool drops (could be vertical) - Lots of random track with a few inversions - Low to the ground bits - Straight bits (which I assume is the enclosed LSM part) - And some curvy stuff and maybe some water effects? - I don't see this being a record breaker of any kind, but is that really a bad thing? Please discuss now.... --Robb
Screamomatic Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I think that the Artist thingy in that picture is exactly what the ride will be, a lot of effort went into obviously and it would be pointless to do something like that unless it's 100% correct... Of course, animations and can't be 100% correct, so naturally some things wont be totally right. Anywayzzzzz.. I'm looking forward to riding this, and I hope I get to ride during the Midwest Trip! I also can't wait 'till Thursday.. I say screw the ride, I want to know what the trains will be like, I'm hoping anything but normal looping trains.
Reality15 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Remember that sexy guy in the official update? He posted his trip report today here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=247819 You wouldn't want to go like, visit it and comment on it, would you?
CD Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Are these the cars? http://www.pointpixels.com/4images/details.php?image_id=8212 Look like aquatrax cars to me.
ECZenith Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 ^ Well, I mean they could be anything but they aren't the cars because of the shape of the tarps... They would be WAY too big. It is possible the cars are under there somewhere but it could also be possible that it's nothing more than 27,000 frozen burritos... The trains will probably arrive once the structure nears completion as usual or maybe not at all this year considering they don't need to open it for another 8 months.
LiVeToThRiLl90 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Those things, they look to large to me at least, well at least too long for some of those tight twisting corkscrews. anyone else think that?
CD Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Oh, now I see it ECZenith. Thank You Hold the phone! Thats not 27,000 burritos, its OMG OMG... 27,000 Lemon Chills, Duh!
goleafsgo Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 they forgot to add the aquatrax section in the model.
Guest Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 That tarp is cover a big thing of wood. The person who took that picture mentioned it on another forum.
Cheesey Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 ^^^^^They do look very similar... Compare that poicture of the thing on the truck to the car in the picture of this. and this. The tarp on that truck looks very well like it could be holding an aquatrax car... -Keith "yeah, maybe now I finally do think it is an aquatrax" Perez
dawgs396 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 So, basically, because they spent MILLIONS of dollars on a ride and put in hundreds of hours designing it, you have to complain because it isn't the biggest or the baddest??!! Honestly, that is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard. Ever. My bet is that this is going to be one of the best rides at the park (none of their rides are amazing, and only a handful are very good. The rest are mediocre). And all you do is sit and complain. PATHETIC. Really mature and thoughtful too. You have no idea how it is going to feel, but you decide to complain anyway. Now, this isn't directed just at you, as I'm 100% sure more will complain. Your post was just the first one that I saw, and that's the only reason I quoted it. It's the same with Griffon. Hey man, sorry for having an opinion... my bad, I'll never say whats on my mind again because its "pathtic", "stupid", and "immature". Your right, I shoulda said this will be the best coaster I have ever seen, that woulda been a lot more "mature" right? What was I thinking?!?!?! ...yeah and Cedar Point has no amazing rides, your right again... that 400 foot tall coaster that launches you over a hundred miles an hour in a couple of seconds is definitely mediocre at best. 200 foot and 300 foot hypers? Psh, REAL original cedar point!! One of the best inverts in the world, meh I'd rather ride Batman, and theres like ten of those! All those huge woodies and that enourmous standup coaster... subpar at best... Simply given the layout and footprint I feel like the ride could have been better. What if the ride dropped 95*, and then went straight into a Immelman? That woulda been a fun and easy substitution to the design. Over the lake a cobra roll would have fit in nicely. I never said this coaster wont be fun, of course it will, I was just expecting a little more. SORRY
LiVeToThRiLl90 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 like i said those trains can't flip through those corkscrews there two compact, and there only one car per train, i think cp would need many cars coming in. The majority of the ride looks like it's not gonna be over that water.
BrownStreak Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 This may be old news or unrelated but I am not going to read all 231 pages to find out... I went on the CP website to look at their fall hours and up in the banner with the CP "skyline" there is a Snoopy flying along on his doghouse pulling a sign that says "The Secret's Out in 3 Days." Just thought I'd mention it. It is 1:30am Cedar Point, err, East Coast Time- so I don't know if its 3 days from today or yesterday- but it could be something.
Jeezus Juice Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 ...yeah and Cedar Point has no amazing rides, your right again... that 400 foot tall coaster that launches you over a hundred miles an hour in a couple of seconds is definitely mediocre at best. 200 foot and 300 foot hypers? All those huge woodies and that enourmous standup coaster... subpar at best... I actually totally agree with everything in this paragraph! While they have an awesome assortment of coasters, nothing there is "the best of it's kind". Millenium Force is pretty good but it's not like it hasn't been done elsewhere better (Thunder Dolphin, the SROS's, Goliath, GeForce). like i said those trains can't flip through those corkscrews there two compact, and there only one car per train, i think cp would need many cars coming in. I'm not sure what you mean. The corkrolls don't look any different than the ones on Colossos or Speed Monster, both of which use standard sized trains. Maybe it was a weird camera angle? I'm expecting Mark to have trains similer to what Speed Monster's running. Double loading with a separate unload area should move people through just fine. -Don Yes thats "MARK"...MAveRiK - 'vei'=mark!
GMAN962 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I dont really get why everyone is kind of spamming and saying AQUATRAX like nuts, I'm sorry, I know i'm going to get flamed for this.......anyway, I think we should just trust cedar point to make a good ride so I can ride it if I can get there this summer! I guess we'll have to wait 3 days until we could find out what it really is....

There not gonna tear down a new coaster everytime something bigger comes out. People are so unappreciative of the incredible rides at this park it blows my mind
waterviper Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Ya this doesn't look like it's going to bust any biggest, baddest, longest, fastest, wettest, or greatest records. But it does look like its is going to be one fun coaster to ride!!
